  1. 50 runs

50 for Clarkpublished at 11:24 British Summer Time 18 May

    Surrey 404-7 v Yorkshire 255

Jordan Clark has epitomised what is so good about Surrey with this knock. The number eight batter takes a single and moves through to his half-century.

Surrey just seem to bat from top to bottom. Number nine batter Nathan Smith is 20 not out at the other end.

Matt Henry finds the edge of Matt Coles' bat again. And it runs away for four again.

Sussex need as much luck as they can get at the moment.

  3. Postpublished at 11:21 British Summer Time 18 May

    Durham 339-4 v Notts 407

Good start to the day for Durham as they continue to inch closer to Notts' first innings total.

Ollie Robinson has added 12 to his overnight 25, while Emilio Gay has moved to 81.

The deficit is down to 68 after the first overs of the day.

Worcestershire's lead is 267 with four wickets in hand.

  5. 'A nice partnership'published at 11:18 British Summer Time 18 May

    Surrey 402-7 v Yorkshire 255

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

Smith looks like a very useful number nine batsmen.

It's a nice partnership between these two, Surrey have built partnerships well in this innings.

  6. 300 runs

400 up for Surrey and 50 partnershippublished at 11:17 British Summer Time 18 May

    Surrey 402-7 v Yorkshire 255

A lovely shot from Nathan Smith as he hammers one back down the ground past Yorkshire bowler Jack White for four.

White almost gets instant revenge as he finds the outside edge but it runs off Smith's bat for four.

And with that, Surrey move past 400, securing their fourth batting point of the match.

That's also a 50 partnership for Smith and Jordan Clark.

    More hope for the Bears...

Brad Wheal plays back to Ethan Bamber and edges through to second slip where Beau Webster takes a regulation catch at tummy height.

Three wickets left and the lead is 275.

James Fuller is in and can be destructive. He got a rapid half-century in the first knock.

  8. Postpublished at 11:15 British Summer Time 18 May

    Lancs 458 v Derbys 118-4

Jack Morley does his job admirably to Anderson Phillip's first over of the day to survive the final three balls after Brooke Guest pull adds a single to the total.

Brooke Guest plays uppishly to James Anderson's ninth ball of the morning, but defends the next on the front foot

There's a conflab between the bowlers as the ball is scrutinised by the umpires who call for the box of balls.

Will the change work any better? Anderson immediately gets noticeable swing, but it's down legside. That one's on the stumps, but Guest gets behind it. Maiden.

    Somerset 338 v Sussex 152 & 133-6 f/o

Matt Henry almost strikes again for Somerset as he finds the outside edge of Matt Coles' bat but it doesn't carry to the slips and flies away for four for Sussex's first boundary of the day. Not convincing, though.

  10. Postpublished at 11:12 British Summer Time 18 May

    Somerset 338 v Sussex 152 & 129-6 f/o

So, in the blink of an eye, Somerset are four wickets away from a mammoth victory.

Unless Sussex can score another 57 runs, which on current form seems like a tall order.

    What are Sussex doing?

James Coles looks to get off the mark with a quick single but James Hayes is completely caught on his heels.

Hayes tries to rush through but it's an excellent piece of fielding by Tom Banton with a pick up and throw for the direct hit.

The nightwatchman is a good yard short of his ground and he's gone for just two.

  12. Postpublished at 11:06 British Summer Time 18 May

    Warwicks 194 v Hants 300 & 166-6 - lead by 272

Ethan Bamber gets lay under way at Edgbaston with a maiden to Brad Wheal.

Toby Albert is up and running straightaway as he drives Beau Webster's first ball to the rope.

He repeats the shot through the covers to pick up three more.

  13. 'An excellent spell'published at 11:06 British Summer Time 18 May

    Lancs 458 v Derbys 117-4

    Dave Fletcher
    BBC Radio Derby Sport

Five overs from James Anderson yesterday, an excellent spell.

He's picked up two wickets and looks dangerous, Derbyshire tried to attack him yesterday and to a degree, it worked.

He had the last laugh, though and gets us underway today.

What a start to the day for Somerset!

Craig Overton's first ball of the day and he gets Tom Alsop with the first one he has faced this morning.

A great ball from Overton as it nips away from Alsop, catches the edge and flies into the hands of skipper Lewis Gregory at first slip.

Sussex are still 57 behind with only five left back in the hutch. This really could be over by lunch if they aren't careful.

  15. Postpublished at 11:04 British Summer Time 18 May

    Somerset 338 v Sussex 152 & 129-4 f/o

Just a couple off the first over from Matt Henry for Sussex's nightwatchman James Hayes, who normally bats at 11 but came in to see out the day for the visitors last night.

  16. Sir James gets us up and runningpublished at 11:04 British Summer Time 18 May

    Lancs 458 v Derbys 117-4

No surprises to see James Anderson take the ball for the first over of the day at Old Trafford.

He bowled just five overs yesterday as he returns from a calf injury. What can he conjure up early doors?

Brooke Guest and nightwatchman Jack Morley are at the crease. Play.

The Derbyshire wicketkeeper flicks the second ball off his hip down to the fine leg boundary as Anderson strays onto the pads.

The fourth is worked to short midwicket and they scamper through for a quick single.

Morley looks solid in defence as he sees out the rest of the over.

  17. Postpublished at 11:03 British Summer Time 18 May

    Surrey 384-7 v Yorkshire 255

Jordan Clark leaves the first ball of the day from Ben Coad and then has a wild swing at the second and completely misses it.

Four more dots from Coad to start off with a maiden.

  20. Can Lancashire turn the screw?published at 10:59 British Summer Time 18 May

    Lancs 458 v Derbys 112-4

A dream day for Lancashire fans as they welcomed back Sir James Anderson and saw their side take a firm grip on this game.

Resuming on 250-5 after a hard-fought first day, the Red Rose went through the gears, led by the runs of George Balderson (73), George Bell (57) and Tom Hartley (42).

It all laid the groundwork for the main act as Anderson steamed in for the first time since retiring from Test cricket last summer.

After an expensive start, the 42-year-old removed both Derbyshire openers in a five-over burst of 2-24.

The spin of Tom Hartley and Luke Wells did the rest, picking up a wicket apiece to dislodge two more batters and leave the visitors four wickets down and still a daunting 346 runs in arrears.

Much work to be done for Brooke Guest (14 not out) and the Derbyshire lower order, with 196 more needed just to avoid the follow-on.
