Summary

  1. WI 2-1published at 1 over

    Matthews 1, James 0

New batter Zaida James is beaten by more swing from Lauren Bell.

But West Indies get off the mark with a leg bye.

A great start from England here, but they will need to get rid of the dangerous Hayley Matthews swiftly.

What a delivery! The in-swing to the left-hander is a ball she's been working on and it just shaped beautifully. It is the perfect start for Lauren Bell.

I said Qiana Joseph had had a poor series and now it has got even worse.

Anything you can do, we can do better!

Lauren Bell opens the bowling for England and cleans up West Indies opener Qiana Joseph with the first delivery.

Joseph tries to play across the line but is beaten by the swing.

It is really boring to keep saying that West Indies will be relying on Hayley Matthews, but it is true.

England players are out on the field and are huddled up.

Qiana Joseph and Hayley Matthews will open the batting for West Indies.

The chase will be under way shortly here in Chelmsford.

Heather Knight went through the gears expertly. She had to rebuild with Nat Sciver-Brunt, once that was done she was able to put the foot down but then a couple of wickets fell again.

But she's such a smart player, she is so good at hitting the gaps and finding the boundary to keep the pressure off herself.

I think England would've wanted a few more than 144 but it's an 'OK' total.

We've also had an update on Heather Knight.

England say she has a tight right hamstring and is being assessed.

Tammy Beaumont will be the substitute fielder.

There was a bit more in the pitch, there was a bit of turn and the ball was just holding up in the surface.

I think that first innings belongs to the West Indies. I would've said 155-160 was par.

Their bowling and fielding improved so much there but I don't know why Zaida James only bowled two overs, when she has figures of 1-4?

    Thanks, Elizabeth.

A much-improved display from West Indies to limit England to 144.

They will rely heavily on their captain Hayley Matthews to get going with the bat to claim a first win of the tour.

An excellent innings from the England captain but she will need some treatment for that injury during this interval.

  15. Eng 144-5published at 20 overs

    Knight 66, Arlott 2

Heather Knight finishes England's innings in style, pummelling Aaliyah Alleyne over extra cover for another boundary.

She finishes unbeaten on 66 (47) and West Indies will be chasing 145 to win.

West Indies have to bring an extra fielder into the circle for the final six balls because they haven't bowled their overs within the allocated time.

The tour has provided very few positive moments for West Indies so far, but that is one of them, 19-year-old Jahzara Claxton taking 1-15 on her international debut.

  20. Eng 132-5published at 19 overs

Em Arlott, batting for England for the first time, and Heather Knight trade singles to finish the over.

England are 132-5 with six balls remaining.
