Summary

  1. Eng 96-3published at 14.5 overs

This has been an impressive debut from Jahzara Claxton so far. A mid-over wide is a slight blot on her copybook but she's mixing up her deliveries nicely, displaying both a slow yorker and a short ball in her latest spell.

  2. Eng 92-3published at 14 overs

Jannillea Glasgow is putting a shift in in the field for West Indies. She seems to be single-handedly guarding the offside.

That has been absolutely pummelled by Amy Jones. That made a violent sound off the bat.

  4. Eng 91-3published at 13.2 overs

Amy Jones thwacks the ball through mid-wicket for her third boundary of the day.

  5. Eng 87-3published at 13 overs

Amy Jones has injected a bit of oomph into England's innings. 11 runs off the over.

And it's looking quite sunny at Chelmsford. The rain is (so far) staying away.

You know Amy Jones is at her best when she plays those inside-out shots.

Amy Jones is up and running. She skips down to the Afy Fletcher and strikes the ball down the ground for four.

And she follows it up with another boundary, pulling through a huge gap in the leg side.

It doesn't look like the easiest surface to bat on, even though it's normally such a high-scoring ground.

West Indies have bowled nicely but it's hard to tell whether it's just that, or if England have got themselves a little bit stuck.

  9. Eng 76-3published at 12 overs

A cheeky paddle from Heather Knight adds another boundary to her tally.

  10. Eng 72-3published at 11.1 overs

Ashmini Munisar comes into the attack and starts with a front foot no ball. Fortunately for West Indies, Heather Knight can't capitalise on the free hit.

The partnership between Sciver-Brunt and Knight was threatening to take the game away for England but West Indies have hung in there, haven't let their heads drop.

Nat Sciver-Brunt was trying to play the same shot as Heather Knight from a couple of balls before, but just hit it a bit too straight.

I don't mind that, though. I like the intent, England are trying to get on with it.

An excellent catch from Gajnabi because Nat Sciver-Brunt did get hold of it.

Hayley Matthews, again, is the biggest threat for West Indies.

    Hayley Matthews breaks the partnership!

Nat Sciver-Brunt goes after a slower delivery but it doesn't have the distance and plops safely into the hands of Shabika Gajnabi.

Amy Jones comes out for her first bat of the series.

Oh, that would've been a blinder. It was a terrific effort.

So close to a third wicket! A back-pedalling Afy Fletcher gets her fingertips to the ball but it's just too high. A lifeline for Nat Sciver-Brunt.

It's been a good start from West Indies. The powerplay belonged to them.

England are building a bit of a partnership now but they will need to accelerate a bit and go for 10 an over from now on.

The 24-2 that England made today is their second-lowest score in the powerplay while setting a total in T20Is at home.

England's lowest powerplay score at home while batting first:

    • 23-2 v Ireland, Loughborough, Jun 2012
    • 24-2 v West Indies, Today
    • 28-1 v New Zealand, Chelmsford, Jun 2010
    • 29-4 v Pakistan, Birmingham, May 2024
    • 29-3 v India, Derby, Sep 2022

England have won three of the previous four games on the list.
