A promising stand of 62 between Joe Root and Harry Brook followed but they fell in successive overs to leave England on the back foot once again.

South Africa didn't take a step back from there.

England were never in the game, and there was very little fight from anybody to get themselves back into it, either.

Marco Jansen stole three top-order wickets thanks to horrible shots from Phil Salt, Jamie Smith and Ben Duckett.

That also confirms that South Africa are definitely through to the semi-finals now, even if they lose this match, because Afghanistan can no longer overtake them on net run-rate.

A win would see them top the group, though. They are in a great position.

There's no pressure on South Africa now. England are trying but they are mentally shattered by the two narrow previous defeats.

There was never a moment in this match so far when you felt like England were at the races.

Bat under the arm and Rashid marches off to end a pretty horrendous England performance.

It feels flat as a pancake.

    Rashid c Klaasen b Mulder 2 (Eng 179)

Well, at least that puts us out of our misery.

Adil Rashid edges behind to give Wiaan Mulder his third wicket and England are all out for 179.

If (when) England are bowled out in this innings, it will be the 21st time it's happened under Buttler's captaincy, 48% of the matches he's captained. Under Eoin Morgan, the figure was 26%.

It's been a walk in the park for South Africa. It's almost felt like a practice ahead of the serious games to come.

Just a single from Wiaan Mulder's over as England's last pair just goes through the motions.

South Africa have been excellent but haven't really had to work for any of their wickets.

The dismissal of Jos Buttler has taken another 5% off England's chances of victory.

    Always bringing the good news.

It has been such a cruise for South Africa. They have been excellent in the field and taken some superb catches.

Jos Buttler tried to do the right thing in his final game as captain. He was rather sedate and he didn't look liberated today. The situation was hopeless when he came in today though.

  17. wicket

We said it might be all or nothing - unfortunately it is the latter.

Jos Buttler falls softly, driving Lungi Ngidi straight to mid-off for 21 from 43 balls.

    England have fallen apart.

With 15 overs to go it has to be them or me for Jos Buttler.
