Van der Dussen has found the gap. That was very similar to the boundaries Archer was conceding against Afghanistan.

He just used the pace to help it race away.

  2. SA 16-1published at 3 overs

    Target 180

On the whole, a positive over from Jofra Archer, bringing the wicket of Tristan Stubbs. He's pushing the speed gun consistently into the high-80s.

However, the final delivery is a bit loose and Rassie van der Dussen makes no mistake, punching the short ball for four.

Not really any celebration from Jofra Archer but Stubbs has not lasted long.

He got a good bounce on it. Stubbs was trying to play defensively and it went straight back onto the stumps. The idea to bring Stubbs in first has not worked for South Africa.

    Stubbs b Archer 0 (SA 11-1)

Tristan Stubbs plays onto his stumps to depart for a duck. It's a back of the length delivery and Stubbs get his timing all wrong.

The wicket brings a smile from Jofra Archer but England's celebrations are understandably muted.

Teams have lost chasing totals such as 180 before. But this game certainly doesn't have that feel about it.

  6. SA 11-0published at 2 overs

    Target 180

Ryan Rickelton takes six runs off the first deliveries before seeing out the rest of the over with dots.

Saqib Mahmood has found some movement in the pitch, however.

That's a lovely shot from Rickelton. It wasn't quite a half-volley but he hits it straight over the bowler's head.

    A remarkable shot.

  8. SA 11-0published at 1.2 overs

Ryan Rickelton gets South Africa's first boundary. A nonchalant chip over Saqib Mahmood's head for four.

Are we going to see an overhaul of this team? I can't see how Salt, Smith, Livingstone, Overton, Wood, and Archer can keep their places.

    Alex in Cheltenham

Salt, Smith, Livingstone should all hang their heads in shame at letting Buttler down on his last parade. Really poor. The way things are though, I bet they get picked for next game.

Jofra Archer is certainly testing out Phil Salt. The umpire has had to spread his arms a lot this over as all five runs have come from wides. That says a lot really for England.

  12. SA 5-0published at 1 over

    Target 180

An untidy start from Jofra Archer. Umpire Rod Tucker gets an arm workout in, signalling wide after wide after wide. A 10-ball over.

There's also an lbw shout against Ryan Rickelton but England opt against the review. It was missing the stumps.

England are not looking as though they are buzzing out there. They probably know the inevitable is around the corner but they have got to try and get some wickets.

  14. SA 2-0published at 0.1 overs

    Thanks Ffion.

England will want a big powerplay from Jofra Archer if they're to pull off a surprise win.

He starts with a couple of wides.

The teams make their way out to the middle as England have one last attempt to help Jos Buttler say farewell to the captaincy with some pride.

South Africa's target is only 180, which should be comfortable for them even without Aiden Markram through a hamstring injury.

Tristan Stubbs and Ryan Rickelton are opening, and Jofra Archer has the ball in hand for England. Here's Elizabeth Botcherby to take you through the beginning of the chase.

  16. Teams facing unusual Dubai travel plans for semispublished at 12:20 Greenwich Mean Time

In terms of next week's semi-finals, South Africa and Australia won't know who they are going to play until the conclusion of India v New Zealand tomorrow.

They have both also qualified but that game will decide who finishes first and second in their group.

That means travel chaos for the teams' preparation, because India are playing all of their games in Dubai.

It raises the prospect of Australia taking the three-hour flight from Lahore to Dubai on Saturday, only to have to fly back on Monday if they do not meet India.

Similarly, South Africa will fly to Dubai in the early hours of Sunday and could return to Pakistan 24 hours later if they do not have to face India.

A promising stand of 62 between Joe Root and Harry Brook followed but they fell in successive overs to leave England on the back foot once again.

South Africa didn't take a step back from there.

England were never in the game, and there was very little fight from anybody to get themselves back into it, either.

Marco Jansen stole three top-order wickets thanks to horrible shots from Phil Salt, Jamie Smith and Ben Duckett.

That also confirms that South Africa are definitely through to the semi-finals now, even if they lose this match, because Afghanistan can no longer overtake them on net run-rate.

A win would see them top the group, though. They are in a great position.
