Surely it's all or nothing from Jos Buttler now?

Jofra didn't get hold of that one but it was a nice innings from him and he helped to build a partnership.

It will be interesting to see how Jos handles this now.

    Archer c Jansen b Mulder 25 (Eng 171-8)

It was fun while it lasted. In a way.

Wiaan Mulder's medium-pace has troubled England throughout, and he gets his second breakthrough as Jofra Archer miscues a shorter delivery to Marco Jansen, who takes a smart catch diving forward at mid-wicket.

That wasn't the conventional way but it gets Archer four runs.

That was a wayward over from Jansen. He has a knack for getting wickets but in between, he gives a lot of extras and bowls a fair amount of loose balls.

Aiden Markram being off the field does deprive South Africa of a second spin option, however, and they are quite far behind the over rate.

Two wides in this Marco Jansen over won't help, as Jofra Archer top-edges the final ball of the over for four.

Archer nearly took England over the line in their last match. He can hit it when he wants to, towards the end of a game. He looks in good form.

This is now Jofra Archer's longest innings for England in ODI cricket. He's actually been doing nicely with the bat - in his last 10 ODIs, he's scored 122 runs at an average of 41, with a few not outs giving him a boost.

  10. Eng 159-7published at 32 overs

Marco Jansen returns, three wickets to his name already, and Archer and Buttler manage just a couple of singles from a tidy over.

England were desperate to perform today and it just hasn't happened for them. They haven't found a performance, confidence is low and they are on a bad run of losses.

South Africa captain Aiden Markram is off the field with a hamstring injury, and will bat if necessary.

Heinrich Klaasen is leading the side in his absence. If only England were batting well, that could actually have been significant.

I remember being told back before his international debut that Jofra Archer fancied himself as a Test number six…

That was not a bad pull shot, he pokes it through mid-wicket. A great shot from Archer, he's enjoying himself out there.

Jofra Archer isn't going to hang around, and fair enough.

A misfield at mid-wicket brings him four more from a crunching pull shot, which doesn't impress Kagiso Rabada at all.

The next ball, unsurprisingly, thumps into Archer's ribs.

Buttler might be tempted to play a few shots now after seeing Archer have a go.

This is an opportunity to put some sort of score on the board that they can have a decent bowl at.

  18. Eng 147-7published at 29 overs

Keshav Maharaj has been brilliant. He has figures of 2-31 from eight overs so far, but he can also thank Marco Jansen for the wicket of Harry Brook.

Buttler to score 150 and Archer to crash a quick 50.

Two fours to Jofra Archer, the first slapped over mid-wicket and the second is carved past point despite Marco Jansen's village attempt to stop the ball with his foot on the boundary.
