  1. Postpublished at 17:11 British Summer Time 31 July

    Yorks 545-9d v Sussex 222 & 66-3

Sussex have recalibrated somewhat since that rather frenetic start and Danial Ibrahim (27) and Daniel Hughes (32) are leaving a little better and waiting more patiently for the bad balls.

  2. Rain at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 31 July

    Durham v Surrey 135-3 - target 176

There were some thunderstorms forecast for the afternoon at Chester-le-Street and the weather has closed in with Surrey needing only 41 more.

  3. 17:30 BST start at Canterburypublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 31 July

    Division Two latest

Good news... they're planning to get back under way in about 20 minutes in the game between Kent and Leicestershire. They've been off since before lunch.

Keaton Jennings and Luke Wells have steadied things for Lancashire since that early Phil Salt wicket. They're now 64-1 against Glamorgan, still needing 409 for victory.

Luke Procter has broken through for Northants, removing Caleb Jewell, to leave Derbyshire 13-1 in their second innings and still trailing by 160.

    Smith c Allison b Snater 8 (Essex 602-6d v Warwickshire 345-7)

It is leg side and Kai Smith looks to chip it to midwicket but gets a leading edge which pops up to Charlie Allison at cover.

Allison takes the diving catch and Warwickshire have lost two in 10 balls.

  5. 'They'll find themselves in a relegation battle'published at 17:05 British Summer Time 31 July

    Durham v Surrey 135-3 (target 126)

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

With the way Yorkshire are going at Scarborough, it looks as if they will climb above Durham.

They will be finding themselves in a relegation battle after this match is over.

In theory, it will be in their hands as they are still to play teams all around them, but they still have to actually win those games.

  6. Surrey need 48 to winpublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 31 July

    Durham v Surrey 128-3 - target 176

Durham go to dual spin to try and find a breakthrough to maybe make this interesting.

But Colin Ackermann sends down a half-tracker that Sam Curran pulls for four.

An hour to go at Chester-le-Street and Surrey need 48 more.

  7. Notts leadpublished at 16:59 British Summer Time 31 July

    Notts 439-5 v Somerset 438

Lyndon James will be cursing himself after being involved in his captain's run-out but he's still there on 46.

Liam Patterson-White alongside and the pair take Notts into the lead.

How far, and how quickly, can they get ahead to put pressure on the Somerset second innings?

Ethan Bamber leaves the field after scoring a century

Ethan Bamber slumps over his bat, disappointed with the mode of dismissal but also looking as though he is cramping after his long stay at the crease.

Looking to turn Matt Critchley into the leg side he gets a leading edge and pops it back to the bowler for the easiest of catches.

Bamber has never made it to 50 before (his previous highest first class score was 46 not out) so has has knocked that out of the park.

He looks exhausted and has looking in bother physically on a couple of occasions but a debut first class hundred is quite something.

He is congratulated by teammate Ed Barnard, incoming batsman Kai Smith and Essex captain Tom Westley.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:55 British Summer Time 31 July

    Weatherley lbw b Waite 25 (Worcs 249 v Hants 293 & 37-1)

Joe Weatherley gives a long hard puzzled look down towards the finger but replays show that is a good decision.

Angled in by Matthew Waite from wide of the crease, the opener has not taken much of a stride and missed it in front of middle and leg.

  10. Northants declarepublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 31 July

    Northants 550-9 dec v Derbyshire 377

Northants captain Luke Procter calls time on his side's first innings with a lead of 173.

Rob Keogh finishes 125 not out, but it was Justin Broad's 171 which really put the hosts in the driving seat.

  11. Postpublished at 16:45 British Summer Time 31 July

    Yorks 545-9d v Sussex 222 & 57-3

Danial Ibrahim has hit four fours in the over off Will Sutherland.

The third flew between gully and third slip and was very nearly a superb grab with Matthew Revis nearly getting a hand to it.

But the last, off the final delivery, was a glorious on drive, advancing forward and holding the pose.

Sussex have doubled their score since tea.

  12. Postpublished at 16:44 British Summer Time 31 July

    Durham v Surrey 107-3 - target 176

    Yer, about that Surrey charge...

Dan Lawrence is always going to play his strokes and he pulls Matty Potts just over the head of deep square for six.

And follows up with a punch through mid-on for four.

Even 20 minutes of Lawrence and this is over.

    69 to win.

  13. 'Durham halt Surrey charge'published at 16:38 British Summer Time 31 July

    Durham v Surrey 94-3 (target 176)

    Kit Harris
    BBC Sport commentator

It was a top edge and went straight up in the air, a simple catch.

He would've been embarrassed if he didn't take that.

It's another one for Durham, but they don't have many more runs to play with.

Durham have halted the Surrey charge a bit here here, very good from them.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 31 July

    Burns 24 (Durham v Surrey 94-3 - target 176)

Maybe this won't be a coast to victory.

    Rory Burns is now gone.

He advances at Matt Parkinson who throws it well wide of off stump and Burns walks past it to be stumped.

Not the smartest stroke having just lost a wicket at the other end.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:34 British Summer Time 31 July

    Patel c Clark b Potts 28 (Durham v Surrey 94-2 - target 176)

Ryan Patel is very strong on the pull but falls playing it here.

One gets big on him from Matty Potts and he spoons it up to midwicket.

82 to win in an hour and 24 minutes.

    Essex 602-6d v Warwickshire 314-5

Warwickshire bowler Ethan Bamber celebrates his hundredImage source, Rex Features

Ethan Bamber's previous highest score was 46 not out so just how high can he go having brought up his maiden first-class century before the break.

He has already added a single to his tea total having raised his bat just before the break.

It is worth noting that he would have been batting at 10 had he not been pushed into action as nighwatchman late last night.

  17. Postpublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 31 July

    Notts 416-5 v Somerset 438

What a player Haseeb Hameed has become at Notts.

A highest score of 122 made for his home county, Lancashire, back in 2016 helped him earn a Test call-up and 10 matches for England.

But he stagnated badly at Lancs and it's to their discredit that a player so talented had to move away to revitalise their career.

He now has scores of 196 and a career-best 247 not out for Notts.

And just this season - 138 not out back in April, 206 not out in May and now 208.

He'd be a way down the pecking order, if he's on it at all, for England given his struggle in Australia on the last tour but he's certainly in tremendous form.

England Lions play a shadow series at the start of the Ashes. He could well be involved.

  18. 'A fantastic knock from Hameed'published at 16:29 British Summer Time 31 July

    Notts 415-5 v Somerset 438

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

A great piece of fielding from Tom Lammonby.

It was a fantastic knock from Hameed.

  19. Should Hameed be given England Ashes chance?published at 16:27 British Summer Time 31 July

Haseeb Hameed is now the leading Division One run-scorer this season with a shade over 1,100 runs at an average of 80.

Do you think he should be brought back into the England fold this winter in Australia?

The 28-year-old's last Test was more than three years ago in Sydney.

Thumbs up for yes, thumbs down for no.

  20. wicket

    Hameed run out 208 (Notts 406-5 v Somerset 438)

    Oh disaster for Haseeb Hameed!

Lyndon James drives Archie Vaughan hard into the covers and immediately sets off for a single.

But Tom Lammonby makes a great diving save, gets up and throws at the non-striker's end.

There was hesitation but James called Hameed through and his dive ended up being too late.

What a shame but what an innings.
