  1. No hat-trickpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 31 July

    Essex 602-6d v Warwickshire 202-4

No hat-trick for Shane Snater as Beau Webster gets in behind a full pitched delivery and blocks convincingly.

But a double wicket maiden which has tipped the balance of a match which was heading seemingly for a draw back in the hosts favour perhaps.

    Malik c Walter b Snater 0 (Essex 602-6d v Warwickshire 202-4)

And another in replica fashion as Paul Walter holds on to the edge at second attempt at first slip.

Zen Malik pushed forward in authoritative fashion but just got his geometry wrong and the nick flew to Walter who fumbled then grabbed it at the second go.

    Hat-trick ball for Shane Snater....

Second ball after lunch and Dan Mousley has edged one to first slip.

Shane Snater has the breakthrough which probably owes plenty to the break in concentration at lunch.

  4. 'Evenly poised at New Road'published at 13:44 British Summer Time 31 July

    Worcs 204-5 v Hants 293 - lunch, day three

    Frank Watson
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

Great first session for Hampshire after a delayed (12.30 BST) start at New Road.

Kyle Abbott bowled with faultless accuracy from one end while Sonny Baker picked up 3-5 at the other.

Jake Libby added only seven to his overnight score in an hour to be 77* at the break but saw Adam Hose, Brett D’Oliveira and in-form Ethan Brookes all fall to Baker.

Disappointing from The Pears but great credit to the Hampshire bowlers for a short, disciplined spell of measured, testing seam bowling.

The game is absolutely evenly poised now.

  5. 'Session dominated by Yorkshire'published at 13:38 British Summer Time 31 July

    Yorkshire 453-6 v Sussex 222 - lunch, day three

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Another session completely dominated by Yorkshire adding 161 in 32 overs as the increasingly ragged Sussex attack was put to the sword.

Matthew Revis with his third century in as many matches, and George Hill have added an unbroken 133 in just 26 overs have ensured that only Yorkshire can now win this game.

Sussex will take comfort from a pitch that still looks a good batting surface, but they’ll need to bat with more resolve than in the first innings if they are to escape with a draw.

A win for Yorkshire will take them to within a point of Sussex, and leave the south coast side anxiously looking over their shoulder when the Championship resumes in September.

  6. Lunch at New Roadpublished at 13:36 British Summer Time 31 July

    Worcs 204-5 v Hants 293

A fairly disastrous morning for Worcs which started late and has seen Hants take three wickets for just 17 runs.

Sonny Baker has done the damage with three wickets (two coming from average balls and one belter) and he has turned the dial of the game back to honours even.

Jake Libby is still there on 77 and Matthew Waite, who struck the only boundary of the morning in the final over before lunch, is on 7.

  7. 'Some very dull cricket'published at 13:26 British Summer Time 31 July

    Notts 271-3 v Somerset 438 - lunch, day three

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

A thoroughly enervating session, in which Notts added just 82 runs to their overnight 189-2 in 33 overs, for the loss of the wicket of Joe Clarke.

This is the fault of neither side.

It is the use of the unresponsive Kookaburra ball for four mid-season County Championship matches, and the grass disease which has thwarted the best efforts of Steve Birks, the Notts head groundsman, to produce a result pitch.

But it has made for some very dull cricket, which is doing the reputation of four day red-ball cricket no good at all.

  8. 'I'd bat until tea'published at 13:23 British Summer Time 31 July

    Lancs 137 v Glamorgan 261 & 239-2 - lunch, day three

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

An impressive first session from Glamorgan with Kiran Carlson reaching a lively 108 not out off 136 balls and Sam Northeast unbeaten on 91, as they aim to strengthen their second place in Division Two and halt the Lancashire momentum, with the batters managing to get the hang of a spin-friendly pitch.

Glamorgan started the day at 95-2 with a healthy lead of 219 and strengthened the position steadily in the morning session as they saw off the opening overs of seam and then went on the offensive against the spinners, who had caused so many problems on both sides over the first couple of days.

Carlson dispatched both Chris Green and Tom Hartley over mid-wicket for maximums on his way to reaching three figures off just 120 balls, adding to his first innings top score of 77 and a key innings of 89 not out the previous week against Kent in a purple patch of form.

Northeast survived a sharp chance to short leg off Green on 64 and an easier opportunity to cover off Hartley, but continued to knock the ball around in mostly unhurried fashion as he pondered how quickly his team could put the match beyond Lancashire while giving his bowlers every chance to finish the job.

Lead 363. I’d go until tea if I were in Northeast’s shoes.

  10. Lunch at Old Traffordpublished at 13:16 British Summer Time 31 July

    Lancs 137 v Glamorgan 261 & 239-2

Kiran Carlson (108 not out) and Sam Northeast (91 not out) have batted the whole session and taken Glamorgan's lead to 363.

All eyes will now be on when the visitors decide to declare at Old Trafford.

  11. Lunch at Chelmsfordpublished at 13:09 British Summer Time 31 July

    Essex 602-6d v Warwickshire 202-2

A few delays and interruptions for rain have rather taken the oomph out of this game with Essex's bowling attack struggling to build any pressure.

Dan Mousley has moved to 75 and Ethan Bamber 41 and the game has moved another session closer to a draw.

  12. Lunch at Scarboroughpublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 31 July

    Yorks 453-6 v Sussex 222

Matthew Revis (101) and George Hill (73) have really put a ragged Sussex to the sword this morning with a 133-run partnership for the seventh wicket.

Two wickets fell early as Fynn Hudson-Prentice and Gurinder Sandhu made best use of the new ball.

But as the session progressed it was all Yorks who will look to kick on until tea but in truth they have already taken a Sussex win off the table.

  13. 'Still a long way to go'published at 13:05 British Summer Time 31 July

    Durham 153 & 305-6 v Surrey 322

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

Well played Durham, they've done a terrific job in this session.

It's still a long way to go, but it's a brilliant effort only losing the one wicket.

  14. Lunch at Trent Bridgepublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 31 July

    Notts 271-3 v Somerset 438

A very good morning for the home side.

Joe Clark, for 42, the only wicket to fall and Haseeb Hameed extending his third century of the season to 137 not out.

Still work to do to get on terms this afternoon as they trail by 167.

  15. 100 runs

Yorkshire all-rounder Matthew RevisImage source, Rex Features

Matthew Revis has three centuries this season

Matthew Revis is a talent for the future and has batted beautifully to reach a fifth first class hundred of his career.

It arrives with with a firm clip off James Coles and two runs.

That is a superb run of form for the all-rounder and the third time he has raised his bat this season.

His run of form has been red hot with 93 at Trent Bridge before 150 against Essex at York followed by 110 and 15 against Surrey here at Scarborough.

And now he walks off at lunch unbeaten on 101.

Interestingly, Revis has not been dismissed for single figures in 14 innings this season.

  16. Lunch at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 31 July

    Durham 153 & 305-6 v Surrey 332

An excellent morning for Durham as they try and set Surrey a challenging fourth-innings target.

Just the one wicket to go - that of Graham Clark for 42. Otherwise the second new ball hasn't brought any joy for Surrey.

Nightwatchman Codi Yusef has got through to lunch and walks off 38 not out to help his side into a lead of 136.

A frustrating session for Surrey but plenty of time left to win the game.

  17. Lunch at Northantspublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 31 July

    Northants 347-6 v Derbyshire 377

Northants all-rounder Justin Broad goes to lunch on 99!

I wonder how much he'll be able to stomach?

Either way, he's led a superb fightback by the hosts at Wantage Road.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:59 British Summer Time 31 July

    Brookes c Brown b Baker 0 (Worcs 189-5 v Hants 293)

And Sonny Baker has a third of the morning... and his celebration shows that that was a delivery that deserved a wicket.

Fired down the fourth stump channel, it leaves Ethan Brookes at the last minute and takes the edge.

Baker wheels away in an arc to celebrate.

  19. 300 runs

up for Durhampublished at 12:57 British Summer Time 31 July

    Durham 153 & 300-6 v Surrey 332

Codi Yusuf runs Dan Lawrence down to third man for four before a single raises Durham's 300 and takes the lead to 131.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:52 British Summer Time 31 July

    D'Oliveira c Middleton b Baker 1 (Worcs 189-4 v Hants 293)

And Sonny Baker has a second of the morning as Brett D'Oliveira reaches for a wide, full pitched invite and lashes it straight to Fletcha Middleton at point.

Not the best start for Worcs and even Baker will admit his luck must be in to take two wickets with those two deliveries this morning.
