  1. new ball

New ball was takenpublished at 11:49 British Summer Time 31 July

    Yorks 341-6 v Sussex 222

Word is that the new ball was taken by Sussex first thing this morning/overnight although there was no relaying of that information to the crowd.

Might explain why Sussex have got it moving and why Matthew Revis is getting the ball racing off his bat having moved through the 50-mark to 57.

  2. Division Two latestpublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 31 July

Derbyshire made an early breakthrough against Northants with Ben Aitchison removing George Bartlett lbw for 66. Justin Broad is still going nicely for the hosts and is up to 80 with Northants on 292-6 - they still trail by 85.

Glamorgan are building a bit lead at Old Trafford against Lancashire. Kiran Carlson has just passed fifty with his side on 125-2 and 249 in front.

Kent nightwatchman George Garrett has now faced 42 balls for his three not out. Kent are 215-3 against Leicestershire.

There's no word on any start time between Gloucestershire and Middlesex at Cheltenham College where it is still raining.

  3. Continued delay at New Roadpublished at 11:45 British Summer Time 31 July

    Worcs 187-2 Hants 293

Umpires will have another look in 15 minutes (at 12 noon) with a view to getting play under way in what remains of the first session.

  4. 'Maybe Worrall can do something with the new ball'published at 11:44 British Summer Time 31 July

    Durham 153 & 247-5 v Surrey 322

    Kit Harris
    BBC Sport commentator

Dan Worrall tends to take the wickets with the kookaburra ball when these two sides have met this season.

No wickets or maidens for him so far, which is definitely not like him.

Maybe Worrall can do something with the new ball.

  5. new ball

New ball availablepublished at 11:43 British Summer Time 31 July

    Durham 153 & 247-5 v Surrey 322

Durham lead by 78 as Surrey take the second new ball and back comes Dan Worrall - expensive in this innings so far, 10 overs, 0-50.

Can the new nut crack open the lower order?

  6. Under way at Chelmsfordpublished at 11:40 British Summer Time 31 July

    Essex 602-6d v Warwickshire 140-2

Ethan Bamber takes guard to face the first ball from Sam Cook as play starts on day three at Chelmsford. Dan Mousley is at the non strikers' end with 54 to his name.

  7. Start imminent at Chelmsfordpublished at 11:32 British Summer Time 31 July

    Essex 602-6d v Warwickshire 140-2

Covers are being rolled off and the umpires are happy to start at 11:40 BST so we are eight minutes away.

  8. 200 runs

up for Nottspublished at 11:32 British Summer Time 31 July

    Notts 200-2 v Somerset 438

A quiet opening half hour to day three at Trent Bridge but it's dry and the home side have raised 200 with a dab and go into the covers from captain Haseeb Hameed.

He made his third century of the season yesterday and has moved onto 110.

Joe Clarke is alongside on 30 as Notts try to build a stand to get them back into this game.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:28 British Summer Time 31 July

    Sutherland b Sandhu 2 (Yorks 320-6 v Sussex 222)

Three fours in the over from the bat of Matthew Revis as Fynn Hudson-Prentice gives up 12 in the over.

But Gurinder Sandhu exacts perfect revenge to remove partner Will Sutherland with a decent delivery second ball of the next over.

That is a nice enough ball which just nips back off the seam but there was a big, big gap between bat and pad and it has sailed through to rock back off stump.

  10. Play under way at Canterburypublished at 11:22 British Summer Time 31 July

    Kent 207-3 v Leics 471

After a short delay, they've started day three at Kent.

Ben Compton is 104 not out for the hosts with nightwatchman George Garrett for company.

  11. 'A quiet start for Durham'published at 11:21 British Summer Time 31 July

    Durham 153 & 239-5 v Surrey 322

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

It's a nice quiet start for Durham, it's just what they wanted.

Sai Kishore will probably take the new ball and he might get a bit more purchase and bounce on it.

  12. 300 runs

Second batting point for Yorkspublished at 11:15 British Summer Time 31 July

    Yorks 300-5 v Sussex 222

Second batting point for Yorkshire duly banked as Will Sutherland punches a single off the backfoot to Danny Lamb on the cover boundary.

  13. Postpublished at 11:14 British Summer Time 31 July

    Durham 153 & 232-5 v Surrey 332

Dan Lawrence probing away in the early overs of day three at Chester-le-Street.

He almost has Codi Yusef caught at leg slip as the right-hander went to turn a ball to leg and almost clipped it straight into the hands of the catcher. It just evaded the fielder and went for four.

Then another boundary via the outside edge for Yusef from the off spinner.

Eight overs until the second new ball is available for Surrey.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:08 British Summer Time 31 July

    Duke c Simpson b Hudson-Prentice 21 (Yorks 293-5 v Sussex 222)

Harry Duke might look back on this and wonder why he played at it.

It was on the wide side but, credit to the bowler Fynn Hudson-Prentice, it swung away from the batter late.

John Simpson takes a simple catch behind the stumps to give Sussex a great start.

  15. Delay at Chelmsfordpublished at 11:02 British Summer Time 31 July

    Essex 606-6 dec v Warwickshire 140-2

The covers were coming off at Essex, but a light shower has just arrived and there will be a delayed start.

That's four games not getting under way on time now.

  16. Under way at Scarboroughpublished at 11:01 British Summer Time 31 July

    Yorks 292-4 v Sussex 222

John Simpson has elected to stick with old ball despite a new one being available but Gurinder Sandhu has opened up against Harry Duke at Scarborough.

Possibly just getting a warm up over into his seamer before taking it.

  17. 'Durham know they need runs'published at 11:00 British Summer Time 31 July

    Durham 153 & 222-5 v Surrey 322

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

Durham will have to decide if they go for the two spinners before the new ball comes.

Durham know they need runs and they need to make a decision.

The only thing is that there could be some rain about today and tomorrow, so that could have a say.

It will be a very interesting first hour.

Let's see how the morning session pans out...

    Division One table

Leaders Surrey look likely to beat Durham at some point today, so any first-innings lead Notts or Somerset get at Trent Bridge could be crucial.

Warwickshire's game at Essex seems to end in a draw on a featherbed.
