Changes at both ends with Ben Stokes coming in for Matty Potts.

He over-steps with his first delivery, and Latham adds a further two by clipping the ball off his toes into the leg side.

Regardless of new ball personnel England are more aggressive with their lengths in the first 10 overs than New Zealand.

They've perhaps been slightly unfortunate to not be rewarded this morning, drawing a false shot rate of 26% without making a breakthrough.

First change for England as Carse replaces Atkinson.

His second ball is a half volley and Young smears it through the covers for four.

Will Young scores his first run that doesn't come from a four, knocking a single into the leg side.

Potts then delivers another ball that hoops as it comes past Latham and Ollie Pope collects by diving to his right.

Atkinson bowls to the left-handed Latham from around the wicket and wide of the crease, angling the ball in and just over the poles.

Latham squeezes the next but one delivery off his toes for a single through backward square - the sole run of the over.

Lucky, lucky, lucky.

Will Young offers a chunky leading edge while trying to turn Potts squares and sees the ball fly past a diving gully for four.

Two deliveries later and he's at it again, edging the other side of gully this time, with the ball slipping between the fielder there and the cordon to reach the ropes.

Since the start of 2020, Tom Latham (31%) and Will Young (30%) have the highest leave percentages against pace among openers in Test cricket - England's wayward lines early on played right into their hands, allowing them to leave 40% of deliveries.

Latham faces the entirety of Atkinson's fourth over, striking the ball through mid-on for two.

For the second over in a row, the final five balls of Potts' over pass without a run scored.

Will Young has scored just the one four from his first 21 deliveries.

Potts find's Latham's edge and the ball scuds towards the cordon.

It's moving low and at pace and just about stays in air as it reaches Ben Duckett at third slip, diving to his right and seeing the ball rebound off his hand.

Latham takes a single to move to 13.

Solid over from Atkinson, just a single coming from it as Latham drops one into the covers and rushes through for a single.

I must confess, until the run-up to this Test I'd managed to miss that Tim Southee had earned the nickname "The Sexy Camel."

I don't know the origin of the title - I'm not sure I want to.
