'What a way to do it!' - Duckett hits back-to-back fours to reach century

Ben Duckett goes to his century with back-to-back boundaries!

After just a single from Adam Zampa's over, plus the big wicket of Joe Root, Spencer Johnson keeps the pressure on with three dot balls to start this one.

However, Duckett is unfazed and backs away before flat-batting the next delivery down the ground for four.

And he goes again, same shot to reach three figures from 95 balls.

Here comes Harry Brook, who had a pretty miserable tour of India.

Joe Root will consider himself a bit unlucky there. He played fantastically well there, that's the first time he's played a sweep shot this innings.

That was vintage Root, he's put England in a fantastic position.

Root dismissed LBW for 68 after umpire's call review

Clipping leg and that is enough for Australia, Joe Root has to go.

The England man does not look best pleased as he trudges off but once Adam Zampa got the on-field decision, he was always in a bit of bother.

A fine knock from Root comes to an end. Harry Brook is the new batter with England still in a very good position.

Doesn't look like there is any bat so this has to be sliding down. I think Joe Root is in trouble.

Has Adam Zampa made the breakthrough at the end of a really good over?

Joe Root was on the sweep and is hit on the pad. The umpire gives it lbw but Root reviews immediately.

    Let's see...

Adam Zampa just let the ball fall to the ground. He looked like he was going to get under that. Normally you'd at least try to catch that.

    Top shot from Joe Root.

Banged in short by Spencer Johnson and the England right-hander middles the pull shot behind square for four.

There is a moment of slight confusion a couple of balls later as Root skies what seems a rather rash hook shot, only for Adam Zampa to let the ball bounce just in front of him.

A refusal? No, turns out it was a free hit that just hadn't been communicated to anyone but the players.

That makes sense of the whole thing as England bring up the 200.

Would like to see England try to take advantage of the mish mash of bowlers a bit more here. Don’t leave it all to the last 10 overs. Spread the risk.

Decent comeback from Adam Zampa after that boundary to start but England still take eight from the over with relative ease.

The platform has been set, it's now up to England to turn this into a really big total.

There's not been many sixes today but this is a proper ground. It's quite big.

The England opener hits the leggie's first ball high over mid-off, one bounce for four.

This wicket is perfect for a Smith and Labuschagne masterclass yawnathon 300 partnership! England beware!

England have played 37% attacking shots in the first 25 overs today - the lowest in the first half of an innings in their last 50 ODIs - going back to July 2021. On the other hand they've played 53% rotating shots in the first 25 overs today - the highest in their last 50 ODI innings.

They've managed to score at 6.64 rpo with this tempo and well above their average run-rate of 5.74 rpo in the timeline at the halfway stage.

Good over from the bustling Nathan Ellis.

The Australia seamer has mixed things up with, showing off his variations while largely sticking to back of a length, making the England batters hit towards the larger square boundaries.

This is really good to watch from England. They’re not going crazy, they’re holding back some big guns, yet they’re heading for a very imposing total. Great to see.

Too short from Glenn Maxwell to end the over and Ben Duckett rocks back before thumping the ball through extra cover for four.

England's first boundary since the first ball of the 22nd over but they're ticking over very nicely.

This has been a good partnership, they've been relatively risk free. Not to look too much into the future but England should rack up a decent total.

England have rotated the strike well to this point and continue to do so, dealing exclusively in singles in the Nathan Ellis over, taking five in total.

A slightly misfield in the deep nearly allows them to come back for two from the last ball but Ben Duckett plays it safe this time and sticks to one.
