    Thanks, Tim.

Can Ben Duckett and Joe Root get to three figures here? It looks a great opportunity to do so.

It's all a bit unknown at the moment. We don't know if there will be dew later, the weather has been up and down.

Another bowling change from Steve Smith - cricket captaincy's answer to Claudio Ranieri, perhaps - as he attempts to dispel the rhythm of Joe Root and Ben Duckett with Marnus Labuschagne into the attack.

Runs are flowing freely as Duckett and Root accumulate with seven runs taken off the over and not a boundary among them.

  5. Eng 159-2published at 24 overs

Steve Smith shuffles his pack again and Glenn Maxwell is brought on.

England continue to rotate the strike, prodding and poking the ball into the gaps.

This could be a really difficult time to be a fielder. It's not bright enough to have your sunglasses on, but you might need them for the glare.

50 up for Joe Root, calm, unhurried.

Ben Dwarshuis back for Australia as Steve Smith attempts to temper England's run-rate. England content to milk and stay patient for the bad ball

Joe Root's 41st ODI half-century comes off 56 balls and is brought up with a single through backward point.

If England decide to pull the trigger early and manage to stay in control, they could easily get around 360. Even if the dew settles, that will be a difficult chase for Australia.

Ben Duckett has perhaps not scored at his usual blistering strike-rate with a more measured approach, but it's laying a big platform for England to kick on.

An excellent fifty from Ben Duckett curbing his natural attacking intent with the two early wickets falling around him.

The left-hander has played only 31% attacking shots today on the way to a half-century, his least attacking fifty in ODIs. In the eight previous times he's reached the landmark, he's played 59% attacking shots on average.

This is a key time for Ben Duckett against Adam Zampa - while the runs are flowing, he has a mixed ODI record against leg-spin. It's accounted for his wicket three times in 77 balls previously.

Duckett paddle-sweep runs away to fine-leg for four

Clever batting from Ben Duckett and these two have now put on 100 for the third wicket.

Adam Zampa is a fraction short to Duckett, who rocks on to the back foot and cuts clinically through the covers for four.

Duckett's inventiveness is never too far away from his mind and he paddle-sweeps the Australia leg-spinner for four.

This has been a really good spell for Australia. They'll look to get back to back overs under five runs to try and build the pressure. It's difficult to get anything from the surface when it's so flat like this, so credit to Australia.

We need to talk about Spencer Johnson’s haircut. Widely touted as the man with the most luscious locks in Australian cricket and it’s all gone! A shocking turn of events. We need answers.

Joe Root continues to diligently accumulate. He's playing a very useful hand in laying a platform for England and that role feels integral in these conditions.

Root has 41 off 48 balls. Only eight of those runs have come in boundaries, but he's not wasting too many balls.

A single apiece for Root and Ben Duckett off Spencer Johnson's last over.

In these conditions, you have to be really precise early on because the ball can skid a lot lower than you expect.

But this wicket has been exceptional for batting, there's been no swing or bounce. Everything suggests that it's going to be a batmen's paradise. Beautiful day for cricket.

Ben Duckett has consistently been looking for a boundary off the final ball of the over against Australia's spinners, but misses out with a big swipe against Adam Zampa.

He had a little more success against Glenn Maxwell a little earlier.
