  2. 'I felt we gave them a couple too many'published at 20:57 British Summer Time

    Southern Brave

Southern Brave's Laurie Evans speaking on BBC Two: "It just wasn't enough was it? Felt good out there, good pace in the wicket and I am just gutted not to get us a little closer and make a game of it. I was feeling good and they bowled really well.

"I just didn't want to get out to him (Ashton Turner) my captain at the Perth Scorchers and we had lunch today, I love the guy to pieces, I tell you right now - his wife will be in my DMs right now and she will be really annoyed at me for putting him in the stands.

"I knew when I went in I had to take a couple of balls to learn the pace of the pitch and then put the foot down and if it's up there, it has to do in this format. There is no thinking and it suits me nicely.

"Coming in at half-time, I felt we gave them a couple too many if we are being critical. Our bowlers are so used to defending our low totals, I think the pitch was good and they played nicely."

  3. 'It's nice to see confidence wasn't lost'published at 20:56 British Summer Time

    London Spirit

London Spirit's Match Hero Jamie Smith speaking on BBC Two: "Obviously, I felt very good. I think the blueprint of how we want to go as a batting unit, we want to be aggressive, hasn't come off in a few games but it's nice to see it after in game seven that confidence wasn't lost and we got our biggest score of the comp."

On scoring big off Jofra Archer's bowling: "I was worried he was going to be coming for my head, so I sort of knew what to expect at times. It's helpful with the shorter side you can telegraph where people are going to bowl."

    Southern Brave

Southern Brave's Jason Roy speaking on BBC Two: "I think they came out of the traps really well as a batting unit and put us under pressure and set a big total for us and we came out and gave it our all but felt we were sort of in control for a little bit of it but kept losing wickets and they bowled well, so fair play to them.

"They had the confidence coming in down the under and their top order put on a good show and they put on a few too many for us.

"There will be aspect of the game we do need to work on, we gave it our all, it's a lovely group of guys and we left no stone unturned so we tried our hardest but unfortunately we felt short tonight."

London Spirit move level with Southern Brave, sitting one place behind their opponents in fifth on net run-rate, and just about stay in play-off contention.

The defeat is a big blow to Brave's prospects - Trent Rockets in third were already four points ahead of them, and a win for the Nottingham side at bottom of the table Welsh Fire will lock both Brave and Spirit out of play-off contention.

    London Spirit

London Spirit captain Kane Williamson speaking on BBC Two: "It was a good performance, nice to bounce back. It'd be nice to put a few together, which would be helpful but it's pretty late in the competition. Hopefully, we can put out another strong performance and see where it leaves us.

"It's great. we're not pretty on the table at the moment but the team are really committed to going out and putting together a strong performance."

It was a brilliant performance and it would have been nice if it came earlier in the tournament but you never know what could happen. They need to hope that other results keep going their way and they have perfect results and they sneak through the back door.

Southern Brave will be disappointed because it adds that bit of pressure. No Chris Jordan, no Tymal Mills and they weren't quite at the races today.

Lovely bit of bowling from Liam Dawson, using every bit of his craft.

Spin bowing is about getting it in the same area but three or four different ways.

That's why he is the best left arm spinner in the country, he can take the pace off and can do all sort of things whilst having the same arm speed. He is the best left arm spinner in the country by a mile.
