The chase is possible. You felt Hilton Cartwright was the man, but with him gone it might be a bridge too far.

That is a big wicket especially when they still have to bowl 10 balls of spin so getting Bracewell out before the spinners come back is massive. Big wicket!

    Bracewell c Smith b Overton 0 (Brave 112-6)

Big top edge, snaffled by Jamie Smith.

Michael Bracewell's stay at the crease is a short one - he tries to heave Jamie Overton in the leg side, sees the ball fly behind him into the region of backward square and Spirit's wicketkeeper runs over to take the catch.

Difficult to get going when you have only faced six or seven deliveries and it is not an easy ground to hit sixes straight down. The pressure of having to hit sixes brings the downfall of Hilton Cartwright.

  5. wicket

    Cartwright c Wood b Gleeson 8 (Brave 111-5)

Goes for the big shot... caught by Luke Wood running round.

Hilton Cartwright doesn't get hold of his shot out over extra cover from Richard Gleeson's final ball.

Luke Wood sprints from long-off and takes the grab with a bit of a tumble.

Southern Brave required 87 off the final 40 balls to win this game. A side has managed to hit that total off that many deliveries 21 times previously in the men's Hundred, but only five of these have come in run chases.

Bowlers have to create a bit of doubt for the batters by going for the leg stump or the wickets or otherwise they run the risk of being too predictable.

  8. Brave 106-4published at 35 balls left

    81 runs needed

A bit quieter as Luke Wood returns to the attack.

Laurie Evans takes a pair of twos from his last two balls, the latter a skewed shot over Kanie Williamson at extra cover, plugging in the pitch after coming down in a gap.

  9. dropped catch

Evans dropped on 28published at 39 balls left

    Brave 100-4

    Oooh, close.

A big swing from Laurie Evans, a little edge and it goes flying wide of Jamie Smith.

The Spirit wicketkeeper dives and gets the tips of his right-hand fingers on it, but can't take the catch.

The ball is parried to Liam Dawson at wide slip, who prevents a run.

  10. Brave 100-4published at 40 balls left

    87 runs needed

The next three balls are quieter - an Evans single and a Hilton Cartwright two to long-on bring up Brave's hundred.

    We'll have a strategic time-out.

That is massive from Laurie Evans and this is the match-up. This would keep their hopes alive.

  12. 6 runs

Brave 97-4published at 43 balls left

    90 runs needed

    Again! And, indeed, again!

Ashton Turner into the attack and Laurie Evans sends his first two balls flying over the ropes at wide long-on for six.

Four sixes in the last five balls for Evans - he's on 27 from 10 deliveries.

You can tell, Laurie Evans is not going to hold back here. And if they can get 20 runs or more off the next few deliveries, that's how they get back into the game.

Brave 85-4published at 45 balls left

    102 runs needed

    Very big from Laurie Evans!

He launches Jafer Chohan for two sixes, sending the leggie's third ball over long-off then gets under his final one to fire it over square.

This is the eighth time Liam Dawson has taken two or more wickets in a Hundred game - all eight have come at Lord's.

Hilton Cartwright comes out for Brave - 42 and a ridiculous 51 not out off 19 in his last two matches.

He takes a single to mid-wicket to get going.

That is brilliant bowling by Dawson, you can see Roy trying to access the short boundary and Dawson fires a quick, straight yorker and to the frustration of Jason Roy it goes underneath his bat. What a brilliant bit of bowling.

Brilliant from the left-arm spinner. You can see he's so happy with that one.

  19. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 51 balls left

    Roy b Dawson 37 (Brave 71-4)

    Yorked 'im!

Liam Dawson gets the ball under Jason Roy's bat and uproots his stumps.

Roy sinks to a knee, while Dawson cavorts away in delight.

That is a shot! Flat and into the grand stand, tremendous use of the wrists from Jason Roy and just using Overton's pace.
