    Target 249

Back-to-back sixes for Shreyas Iyer off Jofra Archer!

He has come out with his collar turned up and a sweatband on his left forearm. It's giving off Virat vibes and right now he's batting like the great man.

That was Jofra Archer's third wicket maiden over in the first 10 overs of an innings in ODIs, and his first since he did it against Bangladesh in 2019 in the World Cup.

  3. Ind 25-2published at 6 overs

Saqib Mahmood looks grumpy with himself after giving new batter Shreyas Iyer a freebie on the pads.

That WinViz must be encouraging for you England fans, as is this worm...

    Now then.

Rohit Sharma, who had looked no closer to finding the form lost somewhere on the flight to Brisbane, chips a leg-stump half-volley to mid-wicket.

    England in the game?

There were eight plays and misses from Yashasvi Jaiswal before finally edging one to Phil Salt. This was also only the second wicket Jofra Archer has taken in the first 10 overs of an innings in ODIs since the start of 2024 in the 26 overs that he has bowled.

  6. Ind 19-1published at 5 overs

Jofra Archer nudges over 91mph as he completes a wicket maiden.

Quick, accurate and with movement too.

    Brilliant stuff.

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 4.3 overs

    Jaiswal c Salt b Archer 15 (Ind 19-1)

    Jofra Archer delivers.

This is a Stuart Broad-style beauty from round the wicket to left-hander Yashasvi Jaiswal. The youngster is squared up, nicks it and Phil Salt snaffles the edge.

Archer deserves that. He's conceded two runs in his first 15 balls.

  9. Ind 19-0published at 4 overs

    Jaiswal 15, Rohit 2

Having been kept largely quiet one or two eruptions aside, the India crowd is in full voice now after Yashasvi Jaiswal finds the boundary for the second time in the over.

Rohit charges Saqib Mahmood to end the over but doesn't get hold of it.

It already feels like England need a wicket.

  10. Ind 11-0published at 3.3 overs

    Edged wide of second slip!

The pressure had been building. Jaiswal gets away with one.

  11. Ind 7-0published at 3 overs

    Target 249

Yashasvi Jaiswal gives a quizzical look after the ball dares to beat his bat again.

My colleagues Mike and Stephan are mid-dispute, meanwhile. "If you didn't moan would you ever speak, Mike?"

I reckon England have a good chance here. Assuming we can get an early wicket and that India play blindfolded and with plastic bats.

  13. Ind 6-0published at 2 overs

    Target 249

It's a decent comeback from Saqib Mahmood with his big mate Phil Salt looking to the sky after one delivery beats the edge.

There's movement there as the lights take hold.

Mark Hollings: I think it’s fair to say that, other than the England Test team, both men’s and women’s cricket is in a very bad place at the moment. Back to the bad old days of the 90s

  15. Ind 5-0published at 1.1 over

Saqib Mahmood took three wickets in his first over in the T20s but his first ball here is cut for four by Yashasvi Jaiswal.

It was only a little wide. Slashed for four.

  16. Ind 1-0published at 1 over

    Jaiswal 1, Rohit 0

It's a decent first over from Jofra Archer in fairness. There's a bit of swing for him too.

Mike is a korma man, by the way. Enough said.

    Hello everyone.

Feeling less enamoured towards Stephan now, he's just said out of the blue, "I imagine you're a chicken korma man, Mike".

Now, he's right about that, I was more insulted by the tone in which it was said.

Mind you, he's not alone in his disappointment, my friend Junaid used to lament that "it's like ordering a dessert" whenever I ordered one.

Anyway, I might see if they're serving one in the canteen upstairs.

To take you through India's innings and to discuss his curry preferences, here's Matthew Henry.
