    Swept away.

Bethell turns Kuldeep's final delivery away past fine leg and to the ropes.

Eight runs from the over - England need a few more of those.

If Buttler can count himself unfortunate, Livingstone I’m afraid has only himself to blame. A shot that he shouldn’t have considered before the last five overs has been his downfall. Horrible stuff.

Maybe you could switch the live reporting to the U19s thumping South Africa. Might cheer us all up. This time in 5 years...

Into the tail, as Brydon Carse walks out for England.

Perhaps a little harsh, Carse averages 24 from his 19 ODIs.

He has to duck under a Harshit bouncer that ultimately gets called for a wide.

Caught behind going for the big shot!

Liam Livingstone, perhaps conscious that England need to up the rate, charges Harshit Rana, trying to balloon the ball over mid-wicket with a mighty pull.

It's a bit head-in-the-air and he doesn't connect, the ball taking a top edge to carry through to KL Rahul behind the stumps.

Despite the collapse, it's nice to see some proper strike rotation and taking plenty of singles instead of trying to belt everything out the ground. 50 overs is a long time and the singles add up.

That is the first time Jos Buttler has been dismissed playing a pull shot off a spinner in an ODI. He had previously scored 177 runs off 72 balls playing that shot in his ODI career.

He won't be alone in this because of the nature of the English domestic calendar, but Billings hasn't played a 50-over game in over two years.

Kuldeep returns for India - Livingstone turns his first ball through fine leg for two.

Bethell must be a great bloke to play golf with. It's certainly not his cricket that gets him in this side ahead of Billings.

Yes Dominic, for the good of the nation, abandon your work!

Harshit Rana back into the attack in place of Hardik, as Liam Livingstone comes to the crease.

Jacob Bethell guides the seamer's final ball neatly through an empty cordon for the first four of his innings.

It seems I’m something of a reverse curse today. The brief period I was actually doing work, we lost our wickets, whilst the time in which the live text has been open on my screen we were either scoring runs for fun or rebuilding! Will continue to leave it on now!

That, in a nutshell, sums up how Buttler and England’s one-day fortunes have been of late.

A really sensible partnership developing with a great platform for Buttler to explode in the last 10 overs has been undone by a filthy ball.

It will look bad when you watch it out of context, but these dismissals can happen. For England, it couldn’t have come at a worse time.

    Oh dear.

There won't be any kicking on from Jos Buttler today - he's caught easily by Hardik at short fine leg.

It's short from Axar but possibly sticks in the pitch a little, Buttler goes for the pull and top edges to loop the ball to the India fielder.

We go into drinks with England needing to rebuild again.

No batter kicks on as well as Jos Buttler in ODIs after reaching a fifty. In the 38 innings where he has crossed 50 runs in ODIs, Buttler averages a staggering 146.8 at a strike-rate of 131.

England have won 26 of those 37 games before today, which improves to 18 out of 23 when they have batted first in an ODI.

A couple of singles to begin Hardik's over, followed by four dots.

England still finding boundaries hard to come by.

From what I've seen from Bethell so far, he seems able to read a situation better than a few of his more experienced team mates. He looks a good player in all formats and England are bang right sticking with him.

A shout for an lbw against Jacob Bethell?

A few of India's fielders seem keen, but ultimately it isn't reviewed.

The right decision too - Axar's ball was pitching outside leg, and it hit Bethell on the glove too.

    Half century for the skipper!

Axar Patel is pushed towards backward point and Jos Buttler brings up his landmark from 58 balls.

  20. Eng 162-4published at 30 overs

Hardik continues - his first ball brings another push towards mid-off for Buttler, just a single this time and the England skipper has to run his bat in.

A direct hit from the fielder and he might have been in trouble.

Bethell's push into the covers then brings up England's 50 partnership.

A decent rebuilding job from this pair, but they'll need to push on from here to set the hosts a decent target.
