    Notts 399 v Worcs 334-8

Having leaned primarily on their spin options during the morning session and got through 35 overs, Nottinghamshire have turned to seamers Dillon Pennington and Luke Fletcher after lunch.

Nathan Smith and Joe Leach's ninth-wicket stand is worth 55 and the home side are desperate to mop up this tail as quickly as possible.

    Essex 530-7 dec v Kent 303-6

Essex took the second new ball straight away and made inroads into the Kent batting line-up.

Jamie Porter claimed rewards for bowling extremely straight with two lbws - captain Daniel Bell-Drummond for 135 and Jack Leaning for four. Shane Snater cleaned bowled Joe Denly and reduced Kent to 283-4, having recommenced today on 245-1.

Harry Finch was caught brilliantly by Tom Westley at mid-off from Matt Critchley's very first ball of the morning, before Jaydn Denly was snapped up by short leg off the same bowler.

Watching on from the other end has been Ben Compton. He has been stoic, watchful and disciplined but has added only 26 runs in the morning session, making it to lunch on 126 not out.

It's been an excellent Essex session.

  5. 'All three results are possible'published at 13:29 British Summer Time 14 April

    Lunch: Glamorgan 237 & 166-6 v Derbyshire 198

    Dafydd Pritchard
BBC Sport Wales at Sophia Gardens

Glamorgan’s match with Derbyshire in Cardiff remains as finely balanced as ever, with the home side reaching lunch on 166-6 in their second innings for a lead of 205.

Glamorgan started the third day with a lead of 113 and, having added 45 for the fifth wicket with Colin Ingram, night-watchman Mason Crane was the first wicket to fall as he was trapped lbw by Alex Thomson, who now has 11 wickets in this game.

Ingram brought up his half-century with a handsome drive off Zak Chappell but, without facing another ball, he got himself run out in the next over after setting off for an ill-judged single from a Thomson delivery to Chris Cooke.

Since then, Cooke (32 not out) and Dan Douthwaite (two not out) have guided the Welsh county to the lunch break with no further loss.

Unlike most matches in the County Championship this weekend, all three results are possible here.

  6. 'Perfect morning for Sussex'published at 13:24 British Summer Time 14 April

    Lunch: Leics 338 v Sussex 415-6

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

The perfect morning for Sussex with John Simpson and Danny Lamb adding an unbroken 133 in just 29.3 overs.

Lamb has been the principal aggressor his runs coming in just 82 balls with three sixes, while the more watchful but equally effective give John Simpson is just 16 runs short of his 11th first class hundred.

  7. 'Kent are in a bit of trouble'published at 13:16 British Summer Time 14 April

    Lunch: Essex 530-7 dec v Kent 303-6

    Matt Cole
    BBC Radio Kent

    Essex will be absolutely delighted.

Kent are in a bit of trouble here, I didn't think when we started the day at 245-1 that I'd be muttering those words.

Essex have bowled well, they've worked the field really well and worked the pressure on the Kent batters well.

  8. 103 for Fernandes on debutpublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 14 April

    Northants 552-6 dec v Middlesex 206-2

Amid the flurry of wickets in Division One just before lunch, Middlesex teenager Nathan Fernandes was also dismissed shortly after making a century on debut.

Luke Procter got the breakthrough for Northants as Fernandes edged him behind.

A fine, fine innings from the 19-year-old opener.

  10. Lunch at The Ovalpublished at 13:07 British Summer Time 14 April

    Surrey 428 v Somerset 285 & 2-1

Cameron Steel and Jamie Overton helped Surrey build up their lead after starting the day 73 in front, as Somerset's Kasey Aldridge starred with the ball, taking 5-64.

Somerset only had a handful of overs to negotiate before lunch but they couldn't get through unscathed as Sean Dickson fell to Dan Lawrence.

    Somerset are trailing by 141.

  11. Lunch at Edgbastonpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 14 April

    Warwickshire 698-3 dec v Durham 305-5

That Alex Lees dismissal on the brink of lunch has changed the complexion of the third morning at Edgbaston.

It looked as if the batting dominance was continuing, but the Bears - who have created some chances alongside their two wickets in the morning session - will start to believe again following Lees' departure for 145.

Before that, Lees had been well supported by Ollie Robinson (60) and Graham Clark (19 not out) but Durham still trail by 393 with five first-innings wickets left.

A big afternoon ahead for both teams.

  12. Lunch at Chelmsfordpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 14 April

    Essex 530-7 dec v Kent 303-6

That has to go down as a great morning for Essex.

They took five wickets while allowing Kent to only add 58 runs.

Kent started this morning on 245-1 in a great position with Daniel Bell-Drummond at the crease but they have struggled badly against the Essex bowling attack.

They are still 227 behind but the one bonus for them is Ben Compton is still there on 126 from 300 balls.

  13. Lunch at Trent Bridgepublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 14 April

Worcestershire's lower order have done a superb job for their side on the third morning at Trent Bridge.

Brett D'Oliveira (54), Nathan Smith (57 not out) and Joe Leach (34 not out) have dragged the Pears within 68 runs of their hosts at lunch.

  14. Lunch at Utilita Bowlpublished at 13:01 British Summer Time 14 April

    Hampshire 367 v Lancashire 329-4

Definitely Lancashire's morning - the visitors have added 96 without any further loss and they now trail by just 38 at lunch on the third day.

Captain Keaton Jennings has led the way with 151 not out, ably supported by George Bell's 40 not out.

  15. 'A surprise Lees got out that way'published at 13:00 British Summer Time 14 April

    Warwickshire 698-3 dec v Durham 300-5

    Clive Eakin
    BBC CWR Sport

A great applause for Alex Lees, he's been terrific.

It's a surprise that he's got out that way [see 12:52 post].

A terrific start to the season, he's been really comfortable this morning.

Durham have still got a bit of work to do, they've done well this morning but they certainly don't want to lose another one before lunch to put the pressure on a bit.

  16. 150 runs

150 for Keaton Jenningspublished at 13:00 British Summer Time 14 April

    Hampshire 367 v Lancashire 329-4

Lancashire opener Keaton Jennings gets to 150 and is batting his side towards a first-innings lead against Hampshire.

  17. wicket

WICKET: Dickson c Foakes b Lawrence 0published at 13:00 British Summer Time 14 April

    Somerset 285 & 0-1 v Surrey 428

    Dream start for Surrey!

Sean Dickson plays at a Dan Lawrence delivery down the leg side and feathers it behind to Ben Foakes without scoring.

  18. wicket

WICKET: Denly c Khushi b Critchley 0published at 12:54 British Summer Time 14 April

    Essex 530-7 dec v Kent 301-6

    Another one for Essex.

Essex have spent a long time setting up this wicket and the plan finally pays off.

They have plenty of fielders in close to the bat and the left-hander Jaydn Denly makes a big stride out to meet Matt Critchley's ball but misjudges it and it hits the inside edge of his bat and flies across straight into the hands of Feroze Khushi at short leg.

  19. wicket

WICKET: Lees b Rhodes 145published at 12:52 British Summer Time 14 April

    Warwickshire 698-3 dec v Durham 300-5

A big wicket for Warwickshire just before lunch.

Alex Lees is bowled through the gate by medium-pacer Will Rhodes for a very well made 145 off 240 balls.

    Durham are still 398 behind.

  20. 'Sussex building a useful first-innings lead'published at 12:50 British Summer Time 14 April

    Leics 338 v Sussex 388-6

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Paul Farbrace, the Sussex head coach, spent last season assessing the strength of the Sussex squad and decided experience was a necessity.

The addition of John Simpson and Danny Lamb in the winter has done just that, and an unbroken 100 partnership today has justified Farbrace’s decision.

Simpson solid and technically excellent, together with Lamb’s attacking intent has proven the perfect combination as Sussex look set for a useful first-innings lead.
