  1. Phoenix 14-1published at 83 balls left

    Lucky!

Moeen Ali gets a streaky edge for four.

Jofra Archer is bowling beautifully here.

  2. Phoenix 9-1published at 85 balls left

    Target 127

Plenty of swing out there for Craig Overton.

He zips one past Jamie Smith first ball, clipping his back pad, which draws a few ambitious appeals.

Big wicket for the Southern Brave there! We were just talking about how Pollard very rarely dropped a sitter the other day at Ageas Bowl.

It was a good catch, running back, and he had to catch it over his shoulder to make up the ground. Ben Duckett just didn't get that one out of the middle, he almost just took it so early because he was used to the pace of Jofra Archer, but Craig Overton is probably bowling 10-15 mph slower.

    Big wicket!

The in-form Ben Duckett departs for seven, trying to launch another one into the stands but only picking out Keiron Pollard at deep mid-wicket.

Smart bit of bowling from Overton, and also credit to Jofra Archer for the set-up earlier.

It is so good to see Jofra Archer fit because he has been out for so long. He has got a really good run of games behind him now, but he's missed a few games in this tournament to be rested and manage his workload.

They have just got to be careful with him - he is a very good and very precious bowler. He is going to enjoy bowling to his England team-mate Ben Duckett!

Big cheers for Jofra Archer. The crowd are delighted to see him in action.

Ben Duckett clearly doesn't mind too much either given the way he dispatched that first ball.

It only seems to have got Archer fired up though!

  7. Phoenix 8-0published at 90 balls left

    Target 127

    Great comeback from Archer.

He goes fuller, and Duckett swings and misses at the next three.

    Rapid!

Ben Duckett has been in unbelievable form, hasn't he? I think ever since they made that change, at the beginning of the tournament, to move Moeen Ali up to the top of the order, that's almost when they had a shift.

Duckett has been going along his merry way. He is so hard to bowl at because he has that short stature. He plays the same way in any form of cricket. He is going to make it hard for these Southern Brave bowlers.

Phoenix 8-0published at 94 balls left

And Duckett starts with a six!

We're in for a battle here. Jofra won't appreciate that.

Birmingham Phoenix kept it simple - I think that's the key thing. They relayed the message to say that you don't actually have to try too much, bowl fancy slower balls, hide the ball outside off-stump or bowl yorkers.

If anything, just bang a length over the top of the stumps and the wicket will do a lot of the work for you. Clearly the balls are swinging as well, so that is your friend in the early part of the innings.

They also took wickets consistently all the way through, but you do just worry about those two sixes and a two off those last three deliveries.

A watchful start from the opening pair, with a single apiece for Ben Duckett and Moeen Ali.

And here come the fireworks. The noise levels pick up a notch as Jofra Archer comes into the attack...

Fever pitch at The Oval as fans - young and not so young - scramble to get their hands on t-shirts being thrown into the stands.

All the while a meerkat in a smoking jacket watches on.

  13. Phoenix 1-0published at 99 balls left

    Target 127

Ben Duckett clips one down to fine leg for a single to get off the mark, and the Phoenix are on their way.

Ben Duckett awaits. 127 is the target for a place in tomorrow's final against Oval Invincibles...

It took quite a while for James Vince to get into his rhythm, which is saying something for the tournament's leading run-scorer.

He added 79 for the second wicket with Leus du Plooy as the Brave were looking to build a big total, but Phoenix fought back with regular wickets in the final 30 balls or so.

Vince made 43, Du Plooy 39 and then Chris Jordan added a valuable 20 from nine balls at the death.

Adam Milne led Phoenix's attack expertly again, with 3-18.

A lot of the Brave bowlers will be licking their lips at the sight of the balls that were just leaping a bit from back of length.

    Cheers, Jonty!

Well, the par score at The Oval in the men's competition this year is 112, so the Brave are comfortable ahead of that. But, we did see London Spirit chase pretty comfortably in the women's game, and Phoenix have a box-office batting line-up.

We've got Duckett, Moeen, Livingstone and Jamie Smith against a bowling attack including Jofra Archer, Chris Jordan and Tymal Mills.

    Don't go anywhere!

The 14 scored off the last three balls by Chris Jordan could prove to be the difference for the Southern Brave.

The Birmingham Phoenix need 127 to win and to take you through the chase, I shall hand you over to Ffion Wynne.

Those two deliveries there taking it from what looked like a paltry total to something that might be mildly defendable. I think we're going to be in for an entertaining second half.

Chris Jordan adds a two off the last, which he and Jofra Archer run brilliantly, taking the Brave's total to 126-6.

A brilliant end for the Brave, setting 127, which just a few balls ago, looked way off a realistic target for them.
