Kiran Carlson is not happy with that but the umpire has heard a nick as it passed his bat and Glamorgan's best set batsman is gone.

Significant blow early for Middlesex as they chase this win. Just four more wickets needed and they should come easier now Carlson is gone.

    Sussex 435 v Surrey 394-4

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

The good news is the conditions are ok. I'm not even sure we need the floodlights on now because the sun is emerging.

It will be interesting to see how today pans out. Surrey were very good with the bat yesterday.

  9. 'I think we are going to just need the morning session'published at 11:05 British Summer Time 21 April

    Essex 179 & 317 v Worcestershire 202 & 186-6

    Nick Gledhill
    BBC Essex

The weather this morning has not been particularly brilliant but it has been ok at present.

There is cloud cover but it's relatively high cloud and I think the prospects for the next couple of hours are fairly good.

There is an increasing risk of showers in the afternoon and the latter part of the afternoon is not too good at all.

I think we are going to just need the morning session, all things being equal, to get a conclusion to this match.

Matthew Potts looks to continue where he left off last night for Durham as they chase the win taking the first over at Chester-le-Street.

  11. Postpublished at 11:03 British Summer Time 21 April

    Hants 336 v Somerset 184 & 104-1

We are under way at the Utilita Bowl and, despite some gloomy weather overhead, the hosts have been allowed to start with their seamers into the attack from the outset.

The fifth ball of the day is a beauty from veteran Kyle Abbott and appears to hit the pad of Sean Dickson first but the umpire shakes his head.

We've seen those given in the past...

  12. Postpublished at 11:03 British Summer Time 21 April

    Worcs 186-6 - target 295

Ethan Brookes takes on Tom Westley's arm as he calls for a single to end Jamie Porter's opening over. The Essex skipper's throw misses the stumps at the bowler's end and Brookes moves to 18.

  15. 'Prospects of play appear somewhat remote'published at 10:58 British Summer Time 21 April

    Warwicks 93 & 163-6 v Notts 367 (trail by 111 runs)

EdgbastonImage source, Mike Taylor - BBC Sport

Prospects of play at Edgbaston for the moment appear somewhat remote.

The forecast is for the rain to be steady, rather than heavy, which must be tormenting for Nottinghamshire, who have made all the running in this match and may not need very much more play to win it.

  16. It's gloomy in the North Eastpublished at 10:56 British Summer Time 21 April

    Durham 427 v Yorkshire 307 & Yorkshire 132-4

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

I am not sure how much play we will see in CLS today. My light meter tells me we are already down to about 200 lux and that's when the lights would normally be on.

They haven't switched them on yet but I expect to see them cranked into action before play starts. There have been a few spots of rain around and the umpires are out assessing the situation.

Even with the lights on, "bad light" may well be an issue.

We have already lost 40 overs in the game because of the light and if they do get started on time then Durham need to bowl Yorkshire out before lunch, which is easier said than done.

But, from about 2.15pm some serious rain is due. The sort of rain which will end the game as a draw.

  17. Thinking we can't do it would be 'stupid' - D'Oliveirapublished at 10:54 British Summer Time 21 April

    Essex 179 & 317 v Worcestershire 202 & 185-6

    Brett D'OliveiraImage source, Getty Images

Worcestershire captain Brett D'Oliveira believes "something special" could still be on the cards for his team at Chelmsford despite Essex being favourites for victory going into the final day.

The Pears were set a target of 295 and need another 110 for what would be a remarkable win after D'Oliveira's dismissal for 36 nine overs before the close left them six down.

"It’s always going to be tough in Division One, we know that, but I thought we stuck to our guns pretty well," he said.

"What’s the point in going out there if you think you can’t do it. It’s almost stupid. We’ll go out definitely believing we can win. We’ve still got batters to come.”

  19. Bad weather to deny Leicestershire?published at 10:50 British Summer Time 21 April

Day three at Old Trafford undoubtedly belonged to Leicestershire.

Rehan Ahmed's terrific 100, followed by an outstanding unbeaten 142 from Peter Handscomb put the visitors in total charge against Lancashire and their strong batting performance was backed up by some excellent seam bowling following a late declaration.

Ian Holland spearheaded an attack which picked up three late wickets in the final eight overs of play to put Leicestershire on track for a potential victory.

The Foxes will hope rain in south Manchester passes but with the covers currently on at Old Trafford, Lancashire will, not for the first time this season already, pray the weather spares their blushes from defeat.

  20. Somerset set up intriguing final daypublished at 10:47 British Summer Time 21 April

    Hants 336 v Somerset 184 & 103-1

Hampshire and Somerset return for the final day at the Utilita Bowl with the match in the balance following a spirited fightback from the visitors on day three.

Opening batsman Sean Dickson was back in the runs and will be looking to add to his overnight score of 55 not out and he is partnered by Tom Lammonby who is on 22.

Bad light affected day three and, with the pitch at Southampton not providing much for the spinners, the hosts seemed relatively happy at going off the field for the final time at approximately 16:30 yesterday.

Hampshire will be hopeful for the weather to clear up in order for the return of Kyle Abbott, Brad Wheal and James Fuller who collectively picked up all 10 wickets in the first-innings - ripping through the Somerset middle order.

"They lost six wickets for 27 runs in 10 overs in the first innings so we are hoping for another burst like that and put them under pressure to bowl them out. It hasn’t happened yet but it could happen tomorrow," Hampshire head coach Adi Birrell said.
