Stay in, don't chase it too hard? Sound advice but Daryl Mitchell is fidgety out there, looking to sweep and reverse sweep everything away, to no avail.

It's one of those surfaces where it's not easy to get away so you need to get yourself in.

The ball is turning from both ends now which I love.

If New Zealand carry on with these two in the middle they'll be just fine.

Just two off the over. The spinners have put a roadblock in the way of this run chase for New Zealand but at least Daryl Mitchell has a run now.

I love a little mystery spinner. A bowler who can get the bowl to go both ways.

The game is starting to get a bit sticky for New Zealand.

  5. NZ 53-2published at 14.3 overs

Kane Williamson comes forwards to Axar Patel, the ball strikes him on the pads and then goes up into his helmet and hits him somewhere about the jaw.

    Reasons I don't play cricket #34.

Nothing worse than that sound as a batter...

  7. NZ 53-2published at 14 overs

Daryl Mitchell hasn't scored off eight balls.

  9. NZ 52-2published at 13.2 overs

The sun sets over the stadium in Dubai as the DJ/MC whips the crowd up with some incessant noise between overs. This could all get ver interesting in the next few hours, Kane Williamson will plan to be there for the duration for New Zealand and bat them through.

  10. NZ 50-2published at 13 overs

New Zealand are struggling to score now, there's no freebies out there as Daryl Mitchell nervously calls for a run that isn't there. He can't get off the mark.

    This is great cricket.

The issue will be how they get their seam back in but I think Varun is the point of difference for India. I think he's got to push for a start in the semi-final.

What this guy can do is get batters stuck in their crease. You question, as a batter, what he's going to bowl.

  12. NZ 50-2published at 12.2 overs

The win predictor has India on top at the moment, interestingly. The spinners are looking good for India as New Zealand pick up a single to reach 50.

  13. NZ 49-2published at 12 overs

I don't think there was bat involved, the ball jagged between bat and pad before going through to the keeper! This is a good spell!

Was that an edge that's been put down? I think it was.

Daryl Mitchell is in for NZ and is in a tangle first ball up.

Varun Chakravarthy gets right through. A beauty!

That's a lovely piece of bowling and Young didn't know what to do with it.

    BIG inside edge!

Varun gets one to nip back in, quick and flat and Will Young is a bit unlucky to see the ball cannon off his bat, into his legs and then the stumps.

  18. NZ 49-1published at 11. overs

The ball was in and out of KL Rahul's hand in a nanosecond but I guess it was takeable. Kane Williamson will certainly look to cash in.

  19. NZ 48-1published at 11 overs

Kane Williamson scans the field looking for gaps - and is that half a chance?! Williamson cuts late and KL Rahul gets a finger on it before it races away.

To call that a drop would be harsh...

  20. NZ 45-1published at 10.2 overs

New Zealand need 205 to win from the next 40 overs, they'll be happy with that as a start. Axar Patel is flat and quick and Will Young nudges a single.
