Kane Williamson always looks to me like he has a bat a mile wide. A lovely batter to watch.

Kane Williamson is one of the greats, he has an incredible ODI record, but he has been quite short of runs recently. This is a big opportunity.

  3. NZ 22-1published at 4.2 overs

The great Kane Williamson is in for New Zealand. He'll plan to stick around for al ong time and be the rock this chase is anchored on.

Williamson gets a straight one to his pads and says thanks very much, four through midwicket.

Rachin Ravindra would've wanted that to go a little wider, it was probably the right shot to that ball.

The crowd has come to life now.

Outstanding work from Axar Patel. He's got a smile on his face as if he can't believe he's managed to hold on to that.

    Great catch! Again!

Pandya bangs it in wide and Ravindra is up on his tiptoes to try and help it over the top. Initially it looks a good shot but Axar Patel comes flying round to take a superb catch.

It was like a toddler trying to catch up with a ball but each time they try to get there, they kick it further away.

  8. NZ 17-0published at 3.5 overs

When defending a small(ish) target you can do without misfields like that. Will Young couldn't be out off the free hit anyway, of course, so there was no need to even try and catch that.

    All very odd.

    Oh, it's an absolute shocker!

  10. NZ 16-0published at 3.3 overs

    Target 250

Rachin Ravindra has tried a few expansive drives without finding the meat of the bat or a gap in the field, he looks in the mood to put away a bad ball though. He's got quick hands.

Hardik Pandya bowls a no-ball to give NZ a free hit and Will Young gets a fluke four! He miscues a drive straight, Varun Chakravarthy tries to catch it but misses it, and ends up shinning the ball for four in his follow through...

Mohammed Shami keeps it tight, offering no width to the left-handed Ravindra. A very tidy over - just a single from it.

Mohammed Shami does look in discomfort, but India only have two seamers so he doesn't have much choice to continue.

Their spin attack is their strength though, they have so many options.

  13. NZ 9-0published at 2.1 overs

Shami is bowling again though, it can't be too restrictive. He barrels in and is sharp into the ribs of Rachin Ravindra.

That looks like quite a nice massage there, I could do with one of those.

  15. NZ 9-0published at 2 overs

Mohammed Shami, as mentioned, was hit on the back by the ball when running during his innings earlier on and he is limbering up in the deep. Perhaps he's not recovered as well as I thought.

He's getting some treatment as we speak. Cricket balls hurt when they hit you guys.

New Zealand are on a good run at the moment. It was a very professional performance from them in the field, some of those catches were very special.

  17. NZ 5-0published at 1.3 overs

Hardik Pandya to steam in from the other end and he finds an edge from Rachin Ravindra straight away, that's always safe enough though.

The right-hand left-hand partnership at the top of the NZ order are already looking to rotate the strike, as Ravindra is somehow not cleaned up by a peach from Pandya that misses everything.

Can Mohammed Shami and co find a bowling spell like this?

  19. NZ 4-0published at 1 over

Wide, down the leg side and Will Young is able to tickle him away for four. India can't afford many like that and Mohammed Shami responds with a neat and fast ball.

Shami is up at 86mph. Sharp.

That looked like quite a laboured delivery from Mohammed Shami. It'll be interesting to see how he goes, after he was hit on the shoulder from Mitchell Santner's throw towards the end of India's innings.
