  1. NZ 44-1published at 10 overs

Kane Williamson strides down the pitch and is hit on the pad and again there's half an appeal. Varun Chakravarthy looks a tricky man to pick.

I think that's tight. He's very tight in his crease there.

Often you think that's angling down and could be hitting leg stump.

  3. NZ 43-1published at 9.3 overs

Indian hands go up in appeal as Will Young is struck on the pads, the umpire isn't interested and after a swift meeting behind the stumps neither is captain Rohit Sharma.

I could watch an on-drive any day of the week. Any day ending with Y.

It's not my favourite to play because I couldn't play it.

  5. NZ 41-1published at 9.1 overs

Varun Chakravarthy is on, India will hope his bowling is better than his fielding. But his first ball is driven nicely by Kane Williamson for three, again that's just a lovely shot that Shreyas Iyer scrambles to save.

And in fact, he doesn't. That's four after the replay shows Iyer's boot on the rope.

New Zealand are ahead on WinViz!

They also were in the second over of their chase (also by 51-49) but the previous occasion before that was in the 15th over of India's innings.

Mind you in defence of kit designers there's only so much you can do with a New Zealand shirt I suppose.

  8. NZ 37-1published at 9 overs

Axar Patel gets through an over so quick. There's a bit of a misfield as Will Young gets a single down to long off and India look frustrated.

They want to keep pressure on these two batters.

The last ball of the over is defended by Williamson who has not really got going yet.

Is it just me or is the selection of kits at this tournament pretty poor? None are classics.

  12. NZ 35-1published at 8 overs

Corrr, a lovely pull from Will Young for four. Got on top of the bounce, swivelled the hips and elegantly pulled to the fence. A proper, proper shot.

    Rolled the wrists on it.

He had to move a long way to take this, just above the turf.

  14. NZ 30-1published at 7.1 overs

The temperature must be dropping as dusk hits Dubai. More cranes on the horizon than Manchester as Hardik continues his hustle from the other end.

  15. NZ 30-1published at 7 overs

Axar Patel, a tall spinner, gets some drift and bounce to beat Kane Williamson's bat early on, with a wry smile coming from the bearded torpedo.

He looks quick for a spinner too, as New Zealand milk just two off the over.

  16. NZ 28-1published at 6.1 overs

Here comes Axar Patel into the attack. He just took a blinding catch, how's his bowling?

  17. NZ 28-1published at 6 overs

    Young 12, Williamson 9

These two right-handers are looking for singles and rotating the strike. As Alex says there's no need for the big shots just yet as Kane Williamson runs a very good three.

Hardik Pandya is struggling with this run up as he pulls out of a ball.

New Zealand have all the time in the world and Will Young is in fine form. He's looked so good throughout.

There's not a massive amount of scoreboard pressure.

  19. NZ 24-1published at 5.3 overs

After bowling that no-ball earlier on Hardik Pandya has called for a measuring tape to check his run up. That's what you call precision.

250 probably not enough, but India have done well to make a game of this. That absolute grind from Shreyas and Axar in the middle overs is something England need to learn from - none of their batters currently have the resilience to protect their wicket and give their team a chance.
