    WICKETpublished at 60.3 overs

    Elgar c Smith b Worrall 64 (Surrey 279 v Essex 217 & 205-3)

It is true to say that Dean Elgar was not at his best in that innings.

Dan Worrall sends down a wide, full delivery and the South African slices it straight to Nathan Smith on the boundary at third man.

It was so wide, he was never in control of the shot and that is an important breakthrough for Surrey.

Charlie Allison comes out to bat on a pair.

  3. Postpublished at 11:24 British Summer Time 25 May

    Durham 277 & 159 v Somerset 172 & 83-2 (trail by 182 runs)

Ben Raine has begun day three with real intent and gets new man in James Rew to play and miss outside his off stump.

In his final ball of the over, Raine is too straight however and Rew cashes in to flick off his pads for four well timed runs.

  4. Postpublished at 11:22 British Summer Time 25 May

    Yorks 159 v Notts 228 & 242-3

Ben Coad scatters the timber with a quick one but, unfortunately for Yorkshire, it is Joe Clarke's bat not his stumps as the bat spins out of the batsman's hands mid stroke.

  5. Postpublished at 59.3 overs

    Surrey 279 v Essex 217 & 205-2

Ben Foakes thinks that's out but the umpire doesn't agree.

A superb delivery from Nathan Smith cuts back between Tom Westley's bat and pad but the ball flicked the trousers on the way through to the England keeper, not the inside edge.

  6. 'It's going to be tough out there'published at 11:20 British Summer Time 25 May

    Hants 154 & 128-7 v Sussex 297

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

It's going to be tough out there, there's no doubt about that.

There's quite a lot of dust around the length that the spinners will be bowling, so do expect some turn.

It's just a matter of whether Hampshire can get far enough in front to get Dawson in the game, even then you would have to work some miracles.

  7. Postpublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 25 May

    Glamorgan 383 v Middlesex 155 & 34-0

Sam Robson really is in the mood this morning. He is 24 not out already - all of them in boundaries. But Middlesex still trail by 194.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:18 British Summer Time 25 May

    Wheal c Coles b Carson 12 (Hants 128-7, trail by 15 runs)

Plenty going on for Jack Carson who now has impressive figures of 3-6 and the first breakthrough of the morning.

Brad Wheal goes forward defensive but gets an inside edge and offers a simple low catch to James Coles at leg slip.

  9. Division Two updatepublished at 11:17 British Summer Time 25 May

Kent have added 13 to their overnight 210-3 at Derby and Ben Compton and Matt Parkinson are still together - with Compton now 117 not out.

Lancashire have begun their second innings at Grace Road and are 9-0 after four overs, with another 242 runs needed if they are to avoid an innings defeat.

Gloucestershire have moved on to 156-4 at Northampton, with the home side hoping to get rid of Cameron Green before he can settle.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:12 British Summer Time 25 May

    Latham c Roderick b Taylor 20 (Worcs 181 v Warwicks 227 & 59-2)

First wicket of the day goes down at New Road!

It's a big wicket as Tom Latham, who can score quickly, goes rather cheaply in the second innings.

It's a rather lazy attempt to drive a full delivery from Tom Taylor and it's a good diving catch to his left by Worcestershire wicketkeeper Gareth Roderick.

The visitors still lead by 105 runs with eight wickets remaining, however.

  11. Postpublished at 11:12 British Summer Time 25 May

    Hants 154 & 127-6 v Sussex 297

We have had 13 runs this morning in the first two and a half overs as Brad Wheal is having a bit of a dart.

But Jack Carson has also turned one violently which missed everyone and went for three byes.

It looks very bare and dry at the ends and spinning could be a lucrative business to be in today.

  12. 'Just the start Somerset didn't need'published at 11:11 British Summer Time 25 May

    Durham 277 & 159 v Somerset 172 & 75-2

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

That's a big blow for Somerset.

Lewis Gregory batted so nicely yesterday evening and he has gone in just the second over of the morning.

That's just the start that Somerset didn't need.

  13. Postpublished at 11:09 British Summer Time 25 May

    Glamorgan 383 v Middlesex 155 & 12-0

Sam Robson and James Harris used to be team-mates at Middlesex.

But it counts for nothing as Robson hits three fours in Harris' opening over of the day.

Positive start by the former England opener.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:08 British Summer Time 25 May

    Gregory c Robinson b Raine 38 (Durham 277 & 159 v Somerset 172 & 73-2)

Great start to the day for Durham - a crucial early breakthrough on day three.

Ben Raine, with the final ball of his over, gets Somerset captain Lewis Gregory to fiddle at one and he edges behind to wicketkeeper Ollie Robinson who takes a simple gather.

Just as you started to think Somerset were becoming favourites, Durham strike.

What a match this has been so far.

  15. Postpublished at 55.5 overs

    Surrey 279 v Essex 217 & 201-2

Dean Elgar faces Nathan Smith for the first time this morning and is beaten by an absolute beauty which leaves him off the pitch.

The South African manages to squeeze a single down to third man before Tom Westley hits the day's first boundary with a well-played cover drive as thee total passes 200.

  16. Postpublished at 11:06 British Summer Time 25 May

    Yorks 159 v Notts 228 & 229-3 (lead by 298)

Dom Bess fires down the first over of the day for a cost of two runs as both Joe Clarke and Jack Haynes take singles.

Notts are obviously in a commanding position leading by 298 runs and it is just a question of how long the visitors will bat on/leave themselves to bowl out Yorkshire a second time.

Ben Coad has the ball for over number two.

  17. Postpublished at 11:04 British Summer Time 25 May

    Glamorgan 383 v Middlesex 155 & 0-0

So, Middlesex are following on at Sophia Gardens - the decision taken by home skipper Sam Northeast last evening.

Max Holden faces up to Timm van der Gugten and 'the Gug' starts with a maiden.

  18. Postpublished at 11:03 British Summer Time 25 May

    Durham 277 &159 v Somerset 172 & 73-1

First innings hero Mitchell Killeen runs in to bowl the first over of day three for Durham which ends in a couple of singles for the visitors.

  19. Postpublished at 54 overs

    Surrey 279 v Essex 217 & 195-2

This game is very much in a 'could go either way' state.

Essex will be hoping to push on to a lead in excess of 300, we would assume, while two or three early wickets for Surrey would put them back on course for a potential victory.

Dean Elgar is 60 not out, Tom Westley has four and Dan Worrall will bowl the opening over of day three.

Preliminaries done. Time for runs to be scored and wickets to fall.
