The players are back out in the middle at Sophia Gardens following the extended morning session.

Middlesex need another 108 to avoid an innings defeat, with Ben Geddes and Ryan Higgins the not out batters.

    Durham v Somerset 185-3 (target 265)

Somerset's two Toms - Abell and Lammonby - have been unchallenged so far in the second session of day three and continue to rotate the strike with a few singles off Daniel Hogg.

They need just 80 runs to win now with seven wickets still remaining.

  3. Somerset edging towards three in a rowpublished at 13:55 British Summer Time 25 May

Somerset 181-3, need 84 to beat Durham

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Tom Lammonby and Tom Abell have added 53 runs so far and Somerset look to be heading towards their third win in a row.

There's been little to concern the batsmen today and the track seems to have flattened down after 18 wickets fell here yesterday.

Batting looks far more straightforward than at any other point in this game. I think we will be done by tea, unless we get a heavy shower.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:54 British Summer Time 25 May

    James c White b Coad 11 (Notts 333-7, lead by 402)

Sensational grab by Jack White to dismiss Lyndon James.

James has stepped down the pitch to take Ben Coad early but is another to get it high on the bat and send it to the clouds.

White initially looks to have the sun in his eyes but after moving 10 yards to his left at mid off a dive to his left at the last minute just sees him hang on.

  5. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 87.4 overs

    Westley c Patterson b Clark 50 (Surrey 279 v Essex 217 & 285-4)

Kurtis Patterson is a tall man - though that isn't the main attribute which persuaded Surrey to bring him over from Australia.

It is neverthless the reason why he is able to take a great catch at point diving to his right as Tom Westley drives uppishly off Jordan Clark.

A disappointing dismissal from an Essex perspective. They lead by 223 as Matt Critchley arrives at the crease.

for Tom Westleypublished at 87.1 overs

    Surrey 279 v Essex 217 & 285-3

Jordan Clark ends up on the floor with the effort of that delivery.

It doesn't distract Tom Westley, though, who tucks it round the corner for a couple and reaches 50 off 11 balls.

Prior to this innings, the Essex captain's highest score of the season was 40 against the same opponents at Chelmsford.

  7. Back under way at Northantspublished at 13:48 British Summer Time 25 May

    Northants 469 v Gloucs 269-6

We are back underway at Northamptonshire and Gloucestershire trail the hosts by 200 runs with four first innings wickets remaining.

Cam Green returns to the crease 43 not out.

  8. Worcestershire 'need quick wickets'published at 13:45 British Summer Time 25 May

    Worcestershire 181 v Warwickshire 227 & 161-5

    Clive Eakin
    BBC CWR Sport

An enterprising partnership between Ed Barnard and Sam Hain may have taken this game away from Worcestershire who are already facing a formidable run chase of over 200.

While most of the batting during the match has been hard going, the pair scored 65 in just 11 overs before Barnard was caught at third for 30 off 28 balls.

Worcestershire struggled to stem the flow of runs with Jacob Duffy in particular expensive despite looking threatening at times.

Wickets have fallen in clusters on a pitch offering variable bounce and some lateral movement and the home side took three for 27 at one point in the morning session. They need quick wickets again after lunch if they’re to maintain any realistic chance of victory.

  9. Back under way at Chester le Streetpublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 25 May

Durham v Somerset 174-3 (trail by 91 runs)

It remains blustery but there are blue skies overhead as paceman Daniel Hogg runs in to bowl the first over after lunch for the hosts.

  10. Back under way at Grace Roadpublished at 13:42 British Summer Time 25 May

    Leics 457 v Lancs 206 & 74-3 (trail by 177)

Logan van Beek has the ball in hand looking to add to his 3-16 from seven overs before lunch.

Keaton Jennings, who has 38, has a lot on his shoulders as he seeks to steer Lancs away from defeat and he has Matty Hurst for company.

  11. Postpublished at 85 overs

    Surrey 279 v Essex 217 & 279-3

So, how is the afternoon going to pan out at The Oval?

This is one of those games of which you can definitely say it is 'intriguingly poised'.

Tom Westley is 45 not out and Charlie Allison has 36 as Jordan Clark prepares to bowl the first over after lunch.

WICKETpublished at 13:40 British Summer Time 25 May

    Patterson-White c Malan b White 4 (Notts 321-6, lead by 390)

There seems no point hanging around batting if Notts are going to nudge the odd single here and there and Liam Patterson-White has indicated as much there.

Unfortunately for him his attempted hoik to cow corner off Jack White succeeds in sending up a high catch for Dawid Malan at mid on who circles underneath it and takes a swirler.

  13. Back under way at Headingleypublished at 13:36 British Summer Time 25 May

    Yorks 159 v Notts 228 & 321-6 (lead by 390 runs

The skies have cleared in Leeds, lunch has been taken and the players are back out.

Ben Coad has the ball in hand and Liam Patterson-White is in his sights.

A two and a single off the over keeps the scoreboard ticking over.

Sussex are up to second in Division One following their nine-wicket win over Hampshire at the Utilita Bowl earlier this morning. Last season's Division Two champions have proved they belong in the top flight with three victories from seven in this opening block of matches. So what about it, Seaxes fans? Are you team title contenders, or will you be happy with mid-table safety this summer?

  16. Lunch at Cardiffpublished at 13:19 British Summer Time 25 May

    Glamorgan 383 v Middlesex 155 & 120-4

Australia's Matthew Kuhnemann has been the star of the morning for Glamorgan, taking 3-15 after Sam Robson gave the Middlesex second innings a flying start.

Asked to follow-on, the visitors raced to 98-0 but Kuhnemann then removed Max Holden, Robson and Leus du Plooy, with his flighted left-arm spin.

Robson hit 13 fours in his 66 off 58 balls, before falling lbw, and Middlesex still need another 108 to avoid an innings defeat.

  17. Lunch at Worcesterpublished at 13:14 British Summer Time 25 May

    Worcs v Warwicks 161-5 (lead by 207)

It's lunch at New Road and Warwickshire will be relatively happy with their efforts so far.

Sam Hain is currently 47 off 79 balls, having recently lost Ed Barnard whose quick-fire 30 may prove to be crucial come the conclusion of this match.

We will be back just before 14:00 BST for the second session of day three - can Worcestershire pull themselves back into this derby with a realistic shout or will Warwickshire put on a formidable total?

  18. Somerset 'narrow favourites'published at 13:11 British Summer Time 25 May

    Durham 277 & 159 v Somerset 172 & 174-3

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Partnerships were what Somerset needed if they were to chase down their target of 265, and partnerships is what they have compiled.

There was 35 for the first wicket last evening, 38 between Lewis Gregory and Tom Lammonby, before the former was caught behind in only the second over of the day, then a stylish 55 between Lammonby and James Rew, and most recently 46 between Lammonby and Tom Abell.

The Durham bowlers have made the batsmen work hard for every run, but that morning session will have seen Somerset installed as narrow favourites.

  19. 'Worcester need wickets'published at 13:08 British Summer Time 25 May

    Worcs 181 v Warks 227 & 158-5

    Jim Dale
    BBC Hereford and Worcester

Worcester need wickets and they need them pretty quickly.

Warwickshire have put themselves in a really strong position.

You can just feel it's a little bit passive out there on the field at the moment, but you get the sense that Warwickshire are in a good position.

  20. Latest from Cardiffpublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 25 May

    Glamorgan 383 v Middlesex 155 & 120-4

Middlesex have lost another wicket since our last update with Luke Hollman caught at second slip off Timm van der Gugten for eight.

Ben Geddes and Ryan Higgins are now together as the visitors try to avoid an innings defeat, having been made to follow on.

This is an extended session as they look to make up for time lost on day two, with 104 overs scheduled in the day.
