With Notts nine down we are going to play on past 1pm.

  5. Lunch at the Ovalpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time

    Surrey 99-0 v Somerset 283

Lewis Gregory brings himself back on, this time from the Vauxhall End and Dom Sibley is forward to the Somerset captain to defend.

Sibley deflects a ball off his thigh pad for a leg bye.

Rory Burns sees out the over and that's lunch.

A very satisfying passage of play for Surrey, who have seldom looked troubled this morning.

Just a hint of the swing and uneven bounce we saw yesterday for Somerset's attack but no more than that.

    The innings gap is 184.

  6. Postpublished at 12:59 British Summer Time

    Surrey 97-0 v Somerset 283

    Notts 281-9 v Sussex 169

WICKETpublished at 12:55 British Summer Time

    Patterson-White c Clark b Robinson 42 (Notts 281-9 v Sussex 169)

It was fun while it lasted. Very important knock for Notts.

Ollie Robinson picks up his fourth wicket of the innings as Liam Patterson-White is forward with a loose prod, edging low to second slip.

Tom Clark again! How good is his catching?

Farhan Ahmed is in at 11 for the hosts.

Burns has played really nicely today.

A very typical Rory Burns innings, some nice shots.

    It's his 76th 50 of his first-class career.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:53 British Summer Time

    Drissell c Brookes b Allison 31 (Worcestershire 162 v Durham 122-9)

Big breakthrough as George Drissell gets a leading-edge as he tries to work Ben Allison into the leg side and loops to Ethan Brookes.

Wickets in three successive overs for Ben Allison who has 3-18 in his 14th over.

Jake Ball joins fellow Durham debutant Codi Yusuf in the middle.

The deficit is 40. Which still feels meaty at this stage.

  13. 50 runs

50 for Rory Burnspublished at 12:52 British Summer Time

    Surrey 89-0 v Somerset 283

Rory Burns faces Somerset captain Lewis Gregory on 48 not out.

Just outside off stump and stroked through backward point for two.

His second half century of the season, having made 73 in the season opener v Essex.

    77 balls with six fours.

  14. Division Two updatepublished at 12:50 British Summer Time

    #bbccricket

An unbroken century partnership between Martin Andersson and Luis Reece has taken Derbyshire to 350-5 against Middlesex, though not quickly enough for another batting point.

Andersson has his second half-century in three games - the last time he made 101, he has 47 runs to find for another. Reece is 47* at the other end.

At Bristol Ian Holland (38*) and Ben Cox (24*) are slowly ticking off the deficit, moving Leicestershire onto 173-5, still 79 behind Gloucestershire's first innings total.

  15. Postpublished at 12:49 British Summer Time

    Notts 271-8 v Sussex 169

The Notts lead passes 100 as Josh Tongue strokes Jayden Seales for four neatly down the ground.

  16. Postpublished at 12:46 British Summer Time

    Notts 266-8 v Sussex 169

Sussex are trying to wrap this up before lunch with Jayden Seales and Ollie Robinson both returning to the attack.

The last ball of the latest Seales over is short and pulled away by Liam Patterson-White to take the 9th wicket partnership with Josh Tongue to 50 in 61 balls.

This has changed the whole tone of the session after Sussex were all over Notts in the first hour of play this morning.

Josh Tongue gets away with four off an inside edge via a loose defensive prod off Robinson that runs away fine.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:45 British Summer Time

    Raine c Jones b Allison 6 (Worcestershire 162 v Durham 113-8)

Juggling catch by Rob Jones at second slip, but he clings on, and Ben Raine is back in the hutch after an ill-advised waft outside off against Ben Allison.

Durham still trail by 49 as Codi Yusuf strides out on debut.

  18. Postpublished at 12:43 British Summer Time

    Worcestershire 162 v Durham 113-7

Ben Raine gets off the mark with a clip off his pads over mid-wicket off Ben Allison which would have been a one-bounce four on most grounds, but this time plugs 10 yards shy of the rope and dribbles its way agonisingly to the boundary, just beating the chasing fielder.

    The deficit is under 50.

  19. 'The lead of 89 is significant'published at 12:41 British Summer Time

    Notts 258-8 v Sussex 169

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

The lead of 89 is significant now, given where they were.

It always sounds more if you can get the lead into three figures.

Sussex will have to bat better than they did in the first innings.

  20. Postpublished at 12:41 British Summer Time

    Surrey 82-0 v Somerset 283

Somerset have brought the occasional medium pace of Tom Lammonby into the attack and Surrey add eight runs to the total with minimal risk, including a deft tap into cover point by Rory Burns for two of them.

Burns moves to 46 in the next over, driving Lewis Gregory through the off side.
