We expressed a wish before play began that we might be in for a classic and Worcestershire and Hampshire certainly delivered!

Three or four rain interruptions made it difficult for both sides to pace their innings, but Ali Orr batted beautifully for Hampshire in his 110.

It looked like the Rapids were running out of steam in their chase but Ethan Brookes thought otherwise with a rapid 57 that put them right back in contention - and then Matthew Waite and 'one-ball' Henry Cullen finished the job with two balls to spare.

We will be back with you tomorrow for the Women's ODC final between Hampshire and Lancashire. Do join us then.

Worcs skipper Jake Libby speaking to Sky Sports:

"It's been a tough couple of years so it's brilliant to celebrate an amazing day like this with the supporters.

"Ethan (Brookes) has done some very special things for us this season. We speak a lot about Josh (Baker) in our changing room. He was a special kid and it was devastating what happened.

"It’s been a very tough couple of years, we wore him on the front of our shirts today so it seems apt we will be lifting the trophy soon.

"We only lost one game in the tournament. Everyone knows their role, we played some good cricket and are deserving winners.

"Congratulations to Hampshire but it feels special to come out as the winning side. He’s (Brookes) done some special things in all formats for us this season so I wasn’t surprised at all and hats off to Waitey at the end there."

  3. 'If there is a team to lose to, it would be Worcs'published at 19:37 BST 20 September

Hants 237-7 v Worcs 188-7 - Worcs win by three wickets (by DLS Method)

Hampshire Hawks captain and competition top-scorer Nick Gubbins told Sky Sports:

"It was obviously the never ending game – we lost the toss and it was hard to go about with the bat. Ali Orr played exceptionally and I thought it would be a good score to defend.

“Credit to Worcestershire. They struck the ball really well, [Matthew] Waitey and [Ethan] Brookes were excellent. I won’t lie, it’s a really tough defeat to take but, if there is a team I'd like to lose to, it would be Worcestershire.

“For what they’ve been through – with the passing of Josh [Baker] – it’s been incredibly tough for them. I’m happy for them and I hope they celebrate the win.”

Man of the match Ethan Brookes, speaking to Sky Sports:

"It was a blur. I don't really remember going out there or coming in. It is a special feeling.

"We knew it (the pitch) was quite flat so we could chase a lot of runs so we just played our game and showed our intent and it came off.

"It was still a little slow so I had a rough idea what they would do so I'm very happy it came off.

"The support has been brilliant today. They've been cheering us along all day and it's meant the world to us so thanks to all of them.

I think everyone just needs to take a breather after that. Phew.

The momentum swung this way and that.

Hampshire looked to be well on top when the run rate went over 10 but Ethan Brookes and then Matthew Waite's big hitting brought Worcs back into it and they finished off the job with a few balls to spare.

An excellent day of entertainment. But you have to feel for Hampshire, who have lost two finals in successive Saturdays.
