England have provided an update on Kate Cross, who went off after bowling just five balls at the start of the innings.

The news is that she has a back spasm and is receiving treatment. Not great news but far better than it looked like it might be initially.

Still a chance Cross might be fit for the Test? We shall see.

  2. drinks break

    SA 64-1published at 14 overs

    Wolvaardt 39, Bosch 1

Loose from Charlie Dean a couple of balls running.

Twice she sends deliveries down leg but while Anneke Bosch can only sweep for one, Laura Wolvaardt hammers the ball that bit finer for four.

Another boundary ends the over and, you've guessed it, it's another eye-catching Wolvaardt drive.

    Time for drinks.

The team changes which South Africa have made is brave to do in a decider match. You'd be wanting to play your best XI rather than try out different team combinations.

Tazmin Brits being left out is the biggest surprise for me as her role in the opening partnership is key for South Africa.

  4. SA 54-1published at 13 overs

Laura Wolvaardt ends the run of dots by driving Sophie Ecclestone's first ball nicely through the covers for a couple.

Just a single comes from the next five balls, though, with England continuing to put the squeeze on South Africa.

Charlie Dean finds a very good line very quickly. She never needs time to settle into her bowling rhythm.

With the second maiden over, Dean has put a complete lid on South Africa's scoring.

  6. SA 51-1published at 12 overs

Back-to-back maidens for England as Charlie Dean keeps Anneke Bosch tied down.

A full toss gave Bosch the ideal chance to get off the mark, and she did hit it well - but straight at the short mid-wicket fielder.

It's 13 dot balls in a row for England and now Sophie Ecclestone is coming into the attack.

Time for some spin. Here comes Charlie Dean...

  8. SA 51-1published at 11 overs

    Maiden over from Nat Sciver-Brunt.

She has done a good job of slowing Laura Wolvaardt down after such a quick start.

Cutting out those drive balls has been the simple but effective starting point.

The injury to Kate Cross is a blow to England, limiting the number of pace overs they can bowl in this match.

With Alice Capsey in the side however, they have a more than capable substitute for Cross' overs. Spinners have fared marginally better historically in 50 over cricket in Potchefstroom, averaging 33 compared to seamers' 36.

They have been more economical too, going at 4.2 runs per over compared to seamers' 4.5. Marginal gains, but not an overall disaster for England in this game.

  10. SA 51-1published at 10 overs

Anneke Bosch comes in at three for South Africa.

After a leg-side wide extends the over, Bosch blocks the next and that is the end of the powerplay.

A good one for the home side but Lauren Bell did at least make the breakthrough for England before it was through.

Laura Wolvaardt certainly looked the most comfortable of the opening pair as Lara Goodall hadn't played for South Africa in a long time. Goodall was probably feeling the nerves out there and struggled to get going properly.

  12. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 9.5 overs

    Goodall c Beaumont b Bell 17 (SA 50-1)

    Gone this time!

Having whipped the previously ball away behind square for four, Lara Goodall tries to go again, this time over mid-on.

She doesn't get anywhere near enough on it, though, and Tammy Beaumont takes a straightforward catch.

Lauren Bell has a wicket, well deserved after overcoming a shaky first couple of overs.

  13. SA 50-0published at 9.3 overs

    Close!

Lauren Bell is attacking Lara Goodall from round the wicket and the left-hander tries to hack one leg side.

The ball hangs in the air but drops just short of Nat Sciver-Brunt at short mid-wicket.

Potchesftroom is a mainstay in the women's cricket calendar, having hosted 28 WODI's since 2002.

In the history of women's ODI cricket, only one ground has hosted more games - Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln, New Zealand, has hosted 58 ODI's.

It feels pretty even at the moment, maybe slightly in South Africa's favour. They are going at a decent rate and England have started a little bit sloppy with their bowling.

46 without loss in the powerplay is a very good position to be in.

  16. SA 46-0published at 9 overs

Rare width from Nat Sciver-Brunt and Lara Goodall pounces on it with a drive through the covers.

It probably should be stopped by Maia Bouchier at cover but the ball gets through and goes away for four.

One over left in the poweplay.

  17. SA 41-0published at 8 overs

Momentary concern for England on a scorching day in Potchesftroom as Lauren Bell sits down after bowling the third ball of the over.

Thankfully for the tourists, she was just adjusting her bowling boots.

England certainly can't afford to lose another seamer.

Good over, just a leg bye from it.

Nat Sciver-Brunt is so accurate and is filling the role of Kate Cross by adding stability at the top of the order for England. Heather Knight will be considering whether she bowls herself or maybe puts Alice Capsey in for a few overs.

  19. SA 40-0published at 7 overs

Frustration for Nat Sciver-Brunt at the end of a good over.

Five dot balls before Laura Wolvaardt drives the last back down the ground for four.

Too full and Wolvaardt is not going to miss out in this form.

Australia continue to build their impressive form ahead of the Women's Ashes, sealing a 3-0 ODI clean sweep against India with an 83-run win in the third and final match of the series.

The hosts slipped to 78-4 but Annabel Sutherland's sparkling 110 from 95 balls helped them recover to 298-6, alongside half-centuries from Ash Gardner and Tahlia McGrath.

Gardner then took 5-30 as India were skittled for 215 in 45.1 overs, despite opener Smriti Mandhana's glorious 105.

India reached 189-3 and looked in control of the chase before Mandhana was dismissed by Gardner and sparked a collapse of three wickets for no runs, with Harleen Deol's 39 the only other contribution of more than 20.
