  1. 6 runs

    Eng 33-0published at 5 overs

    Target 205

    Ooooh!

Dan Lawrence fancies some of the spinner, too. Lofted down the ground for six!

Might be over before tea at this rate.

Duckett hit that cleanly, a phenomenal stroke.

  3. Eng 25-0published at 4.2 overs

Dhananjaya de Silva turns to spin early with Prabath Jayasuriya.

Now, with Ben Duckett out there, this could bring plentiful boundaries.

And, on cue, a reverse sweep for four second ball!

The pitch is good enough for this score to be chased down to a degree of comfort.

  5. Eng 21-0published at 4 overs

    Target 205

No boundaries, but Sri Lanka's defensive field placings mean that the runs are still coming too easily.

Should they risk conceding boundaries, but increase their chance of wickets? Surely, the only way they're winning this game is by taking 10 wickets so they might as well.

16 of those runs have come off Vishwa Fernando. He is the more senior bowler with a lot more experience. Dhananjaya de Silva needs him to just be boring and not give anything away.

Edged, and through the slips for four.

Frustration for Sri Lanka and the bowler Vishwa Fernando. Might've dropped short anyway but it's a shocking shot from Dan Lawrence.

That was very wide, he's lucky.

The glove was facing upwards. He had it in his glove but he did slide ever so slightly.

That's such a shame, what an incredible catch that would have been.

  10. Not outpublished at 2 overs

    Eng 10-0

Ah! The ball touches the ground as Kusal Mendis slides.

He may not have felt it because it was all in one movement, so no blame on him for the celebration.

    Duckett survives.

  11. Umpire reviewpublished at 2 overs

What a grab! Or is it?

Ben Duckett walks, having tickled one down the leg side where Kusal Mendis takes a screamer, leaping to his right.

But the umpires want a second look to see if it's taken cleanly.

  12. Eng 9-0published at 1 over

    Target 205

The sweepers are out, with Sri Lanka wanting to nullify England's love of hitting boundaries, but the result is that there's absolutely no pressure.

They tick the singles, and with the five wides, it's a costly start from Vishwa Fernando.

Duckett's reputation ensures there's always three men on the boundary. There are bound to be gaps.

    Ben Jones
    CricViz analyst

Ben Duckett has been excellent since returning to Test cricket, and that continues through to the end of the match - his batting average in fourth innings, 55.60, is his highest for any innings.

  15. Eng 6-0published at 0.1 overs

    My word, what happened there?

Vishwa Fernando with the wildest of wides, that sails past the keeper and through the slips for four.

Five bonus runs for England. So sloppy.

  16. Eng 1-0published at 0.1 overs

An easy dink into the off side for one, and Ben Duckett gets England under way.

  17. Postpublished at 14:42 British Summer Time 24 August

    One thing's for certain.

England will not hang around in their pursuit of these 205 runs.

Sri Lanka threw their wickets away, it wasn't from the pitch or the ball misbehaving drastically.

But, a word for Kamindu Mendis before we get into England's innings. A fantastic knock.

Sri Lanka will have to produce something out of the ordinary early to get England's nerves tingling.

  19. Postpublished at 14:36 British Summer Time 24 August

Kamindu Mendis was brilliant for his epic 113, as was Dinesh Chandimal for his 79, but that was a very soft display from the lower order.

Tasked with simply hanging in there for Chandimal's sake, they crumbled.

The last four wickets fell for just 19 runs.

This pitch is still behaving pretty well. If England don't win today, they might struggle tomorrow. The signs aren't good weathe- wise.
