Potts takes another wicket and Chandimal falls on his sword.

    Chandimal c sub b Potts 79 (SL 326)

It's all over in a flash.

Can't really blame Dinesh Chandimal there. If he was going to score the extra runs, they were going to have to come quickly because of the fragility of Asitha Fernando at the other end.

He slogs one high up into the air off Matthew Potts, and the sub fielder takes a smart catch at deep cover.

    England need 205 to win.

An extraordinary shot! He just chipped that and you wouldn't have thought Chandimal had the space. He leant back, a clever shot. Every run is vital now.

Those quick wickets have forced Chandimal's hand here.

He's got to go for it. The tactic of taking the single and farming the strike just wasn't working - not through his own fault, but because his team-mates keep getting out.

He thumps the first ball of Potts' over for four down the ground.

    V Fernando lbw b Woakes 0 (SL 322-9)

Sri Lanka's lower order is seriously failing Dinesh Chandimal here.

Vishwa Fernando didn't look remotely confident in the two balls that he faced from Woakes, completely squared up by a straight one.

They have a lead of 200, but based on Vishwa's innings, I don't have much hope for his namesake Asitha.

That was like someone playing French cricket in the garden. England are convinced he's out.

  8. SL reviewpublished at 89 overs

    Possibly!

Vishwa is pinned in front, given lbw but he goes for the review.

There's not much going for it, unless there's an edge. It's very straight.

  9. SL 322-8published at 88.4 overs

Again, Chandimal takes the single and trusts Vishwa Fernando with two balls to survive.

    Will the pattern repeat itself?

Great bowling from Potts. He just dangled the carrot and it was a solid catch from Brook, he went sharp to it.

Caught at the second attempt by Brook! That bowling change has worked for England.

    Jayasuriya c Brook b Potts 5 (SL 321-8)

Alas, Prabath Jayasuriya cannot survive them.

He goes after a wide one and edges through to Harry Brook, who takes it after a juggling second attempt.

Poor batting, really. The lower order has just got to play for Chandimal here, and that one could've easily been left alone.

Wide and full, a nice tempting delivery from Potts. Chandimal thought, here's a bit of glory.

  14. SL 321-8published at 87.4 overs

Gloriously driven for four by Dinesh Chandimal, as Matthew Potts offers too much width.

He then takes a quick single and trusts Jayasuriya to survive two balls.

Two from the last ball of the over, thanks to some good running from Dinesh Chandimal, sees him retain the strike to frustrate England a little more.

Tricky situation for Chandimal, this. He's their last recognised batter, you'd think their last real chance of adding any more to this lead, so he's got to balance his attacking intent with knowing he can't afford to get out.

It was good bowling from Atkinson with that extra bit of bounce, a nice angle change and solid catch from Root. Kamindu played a really good innings with so much skill, and got the balance perfect between attack and defence. He had really good control and technique.

Chandimal will have to play a different style of knock now.

  18. SL 314-7published at 86 overs

    Lead by 192

That just makes me think, why on earth is Kamindu Mendis batting at seven?!

Anyway, the over ends with Dinesh Chandimal slashing four runs through the covers as Gus Atkinson offers some short, wide filth that is deservedly punished.

Most centuries for Sri Lanka from number seven or lower:

    Kamindu Mendis - 3

    Prasanna Jayawardene - 3

  20. SL 306-7published at 85.3 overs

England are well and truly into the bowlers now as Prabath Jayasuriya joins Dinesh Chandimal in the middle.

He solidly defends his first ball from Atkinson.
