  1. 100 runs

100 for Sam Curranpublished at 17:03 British Summer Time

    Surrey 261-2 v Durham

Sam Curran, SurreyImage source, Rex Features

Sam Curran registers only his second first-class hundred - the first of them came three years ago - and it's richly deserved after the way he's batted today.

The left-hander cuts George Drissell for a single to get there from 117 balls and his partnership with Dom Sibley is now worth 153 - a Surrey record for the third wicket against Durham.

Curran's knock includes 13 fours, as well as the only six of the game so far.

  2. Postpublished at 79 overs

    Somerset 241-5 v Notts

Having got himself in a muddle with an attempted reverse sweep off Farham Ahmed, Tom Banton tries again, makes clean contact and that's four runs.

Next ball he is down toe track to loft over mid-wicket for another boundary. Looking more like the usual Banton now.

  3. 50 runs

for Sam Hainpublished at 17:02 British Summer Time

    Sussex v Warwickshire 274-4

Sam Hain brings up his fifth Championship half-century in a row...

It came from 86 balls with a single and featured four fours and that mighty six.

Ominous for Sussex, who have seven overs to wait until they can take the new ball.

  4. 6 runs

Postpublished at 17:00 British Summer Time

    Sussex v Warwickshire 272-4

Red ball, white ball, doesn't matter to Sam Hain...

He jumps down the track and somehow pulls a slightly short ball from paceman Gurinder Sandhu over the long leg boundary for a towering six into the stands.

He moves onto 48* and showcases his batting range.

  5. Postpublished at 78 overs

    Somerset 232-5 v Notts

Tidy over from Liam Patterson-White - just two to go now to the new ball. Archie Vaughan is 29 not out and Tom Banton has 27.

  6. Postpublished at 16:54 British Summer Time

    Sussex v Warwickshire 260-4

Sam Hain oh so close to chopping on from Ollie Robinson, who has had precisely zero luck today.

0-43 from his 14 overs but on another day he could have had two or three already.

As it is Hain is onto 41* and the partnership with Ed Barnard passes 70.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:53 British Summer Time

    Robson c Budinger b Walker 133 (Leics v Middx 258-3)

A third wicket for Roman Walker - and it's very much the one Leicestershire wanted, removing centurion Sam Robson for 133.

Ryan Higgins is out there now to join Leus du Plooy for Middlesex.

  8. Postpublished at 75 overs

    Somerset 230-5 v Notts

    Archie VaughanImage source, Rex Features

A full, orthodox stride to the pitch of the ball and Archie Vaughan drives a floated half-volley from Farhan Ahmed for four. Straight out of the coaching manual.

Farhan isn't looking dangerous thus far - he has 0-23 from seven overs.

That boundary also brings up a 50 partnership with Tom Banton.

  9. Batting bonus point for Surreypublished at 16:51 British Summer Time

    Surrey 253-2 v Durham

Daniel Hogg pitches one short and Sam Curran pulls it gracefully to the boundary to move into the 90s and secure a first bonus point of the game for Surrey.

You'd very much doubt it will be their last...

  10. 150 runs

150 for Adam Hosepublished at 16:50 British Summer Time

    Hampshire v Worcs 297-2

Scott Currie offers one up right in the slot for Adam Hose who needs no invitation to despatch the ball to the long-off boundary to bring up his maiden 150.

It was his 21st four to go with a solitary six and the milestone came up from 178 balls.

There are more here for him too...

Jake Libby is into the 90s at the other end and his side are three runs away from a second batting point - having earned just three in their first eight matches combined.

  11. 'Hampshire need to simplify their plan'published at 16:48 British Summer Time

    Hampshire v Worcs 296-2

    Michael Carberry
Former Hampshire and England batter on BBC Radio Solent

You need another one in that Hampshire bowling line-up to really stand up and stick to a plan.

It's easier to defend one side of the wicket but they haven't stuck in enough for at least a session where they've gone at maybe two an over.

We know it's not easy conditions and the ball isn't doing very much which is why I think they've got to almost simplify the plan a little bit.

You've got to use those opportunities like the tea and drinks breaks to try and go back to conventional.

I think Ben Brown can get up to the stumps a bit more, pin these guys in the crease a little bit.

You've got to try these little things. That's what four-day cricket is all about, letting things play out over time.

  12. Latest from Cardiffpublished at 16:47 British Summer Time

Gloucestershire have lost another wicket since tea at Sophia Gardens, with Ben Charlesworth lbw to Mason Crane, who now has three wickets in the innings. The visitors are 186-6 in the 76th over.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:46 British Summer Time

    Jennings b Chappell 106 (Derbyshire v Lancashire 238-7)

Straight after the resumption Keaton Jennings flashes a straight drive at one from Zak Chappell which beats the edge and clips the bails on its way through to the keeper.

Jennings' vigil is over after nearly five hours. The partnership for the seventh wicket is broken at 106.

  14. 250 runs

250 up for Bearspublished at 16:42 British Summer Time

    Sussex v Warwickshire 250-4

Ed Barnard opens the face and square-drives Ollie Robinson past point to the rope to bring up the Bears 250 and secure a first batting bonus point - they'll hope the first of at least four, if we're honest.

James Coles is rattling through his overs of left-arm spin at the other end so not much time for Robinson to catch his breath between overs.

  15. Batting point for Kentpublished at 16:41 British Summer Time

    Kent 251-3 v Northants

    Tawanda MuyeyeImage source, Rex Features

Tawanda Muyeye cover drives an overpitched delivery from Calvin Harrison for four as Kent's total reaches 250 - and he brings up his own 50 from 115 balls faced by dabbing the next for a single.

He and Daniel Bell-Drummond have put on 70 together.

  16. Batting bonus point for Middlesexpublished at 16:38 British Summer Time

    Leics v Middx 254-2

Middlesex haven't been flush with batting bonus points in recent years, but they've got one in the bag now as Sam Robson and stand-in captain Leus du Plooy pile on the runs.

Robson is now 131 not out, with du Plooy - captaining the visitors in the absence of the unwell Toby Roland-Jones - on 29.

  17. Postpublished at 72 overs

    Somerset 215-5 v Notts

We are wondering whether Tom Banton is feeling 100% today.

He is wearing an old-fashioned (or traditional, depending on your adjective of choice) cableknit sweater - sleeveless admittedly - and recently summoned a drink from the dressing room.

His 19 not out off 56 balls is an un-Banton-like knock too.

  18. 'Both teams still have hopes of an advantage'published at 16:32 British Summer Time

    Sussex v Warwickshire 242-4

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

    HoveImage source, Adrian Harms

On such a hot day, with runs flowing apparently all too comfortably, Sussex needed a burst of energy to carry them through the afternoon and Henry Crocombe provided it.

Had the England selectors not been so eager to bring Jofra Archer straight back for the Edgbaston Test, Crocombe might not have been playing in this match. But after taking the only wicket of the morning session in a spell up the hill, he was rewarded with a chance to charge down it, and repaid the captain’s faith with the wickets of Tom Latham and Rob Yates.

Both might have left wondering how many runs they had left behind. Latham was by no means fluent, but having spent an hour and three-quarters nudging his way up to 31, swished at a legside delivery and touched it through to John Simpson.

Fortified by that, Crocombe set a trap for Rob Yates, who had pulled the ball confidently throughout his 93, but appeared stunned to find that he had hauled another short delivery fast and flat to Finn Hudson-Prentice, who held it above his head at deep backward square leg.

Gurinder Sandhu, poorly rewarded for two good spells before lunch, widened the breach by finding Zen Malik’s outside edge. Sam Hain and Ed Barnard saw the Bears to tea without further damage, although Barnard miscued his pull stroke on a couple of occasions.

Both teams will still have hopes of finishing this well-attended first day with a clear advantage.

  19. Postpublished at 16:32 British Summer Time

    Yorks v Essex 181-1

Still eight overs until the second new ball is due and Yorkshire can only pray it brings them dividends.

Tom Westley and Dean Elgar have been untroubled so far after tea - as, indeed, they have been for most of the day - and have advanced to 87 and 77 respectively.

  20. Postpublished at 70 overs

    Somerset 206-5 v Notts

A silly mid-off now in place as spinner Liam Patterson-White starts a new over to Archie Vaughan. Just a single from it. The new ball is 10 overs away.
