    Hampshire v Worcs 248-2

Worcestershire were 3-1 in the fourth over and their run-rate was below two for the opening hour or so at Southampton.

Fast forward to 15:45 BST and the run rate is north of four and the Pears are 248-2 from 60 overs.

Adam Hose now has 19 boundaries in his career-best 124* and has added 188 with Jake Libby who has 72* in the same number of deliveries.

  2. Tea at Yorkpublished at 15:46 British Summer Time

    Yorks v Essex 164-1

Only 67 runs scored in that afternoon session, which is credit to the home bowlers - but no wickets taken.

Esse captain Tom Westley goes for a cuppa with 77 to his name, six ahead of partner Dean Elgar and the partnership stands at 140.

  3. Tea at Cardiffpublished at 15:45 British Summer Time

    Glamorgan v Gloucestershire 156-5

    Mason CraneImage source, Rex Features

A burst of three wickets for eight runs in three overs has given Glamorgan the edge at Sophia Gardens.

Gloucestershire were going along well on 97-1 when Cameron Bancroft was lbw for 50, but it was the dismissal of Miles Hammond by spinner Mason Crane which began the mini-collapse as they went from 140-2 to 148-5.

Crane also accounted for Graeme van Buuren but with James Bracey and Ben Charlesworth now together, Gloucestershire still have hopes of posting a decent first-innings score.

  4. dropped catch

Dropped catch by Adam Lythpublished at 15:43 British Summer Time

    Yorks v Essex 162-1

Chances have been few and far between today - but Yorkshire have just squandered an opportunity to break this Essex partnership in the run-up to tea.

Dom Bess finds some turn and takes the edge of Dean Elgar's bat, but Adam Lyth puts the catch down at slip.

How badly might Yorkshire come to regret that?

  5. Postpublished at 15:43 British Summer Time

    Sussex v Warwickshire 212-4

Just signs that Warwickshire are settling back down as Ed Barnard rolls his wrists to whip away a short ball from Henry Crocombe to dissect two leg-side fielders and find the rope.

He joins Sam Hain in double figures.

Sussex are varying their lines, lengths and field settings to try to conjure up more wickets and keep the pressure on this newish pair, who are both so dangerous in their current form.

  6. 'Surrey will be looking to just bat once now'published at 15:41 British Summer Time

    Surrey 209-2 v Durham

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

There is a bit of breeze going across the ground but it's not going to cool everyone down.

People are seeking a bit of shade now.

What would be very interesting is what difference we'll see when the Surrey bowling attack have the ball in their hands but we have a long way to go before that happens.

With this platform Surrey will be looking to just bat once now.

  7. 100 runs

100 partnership for Sibley & Curranpublished at 15:41 British Summer Time

    Surrey 208-2 v Durham

Dom Sibley turns George Drissell for a single on the leg side that raises his partnership with Sam Curran into three figures.

Curran has scored 66 of those 100 runs, which underlines how Sibley has largely been able to drop anchor this afternoon and make the most of the excellent batting conditions.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:36 British Summer Time

    Abell c Kishan b Patterson-White 69 (Somerset 179-5 v Notts)

A major boost for Notts just a few minutes before tea at Taunton.

Tom Abell tries to flick away an arm ball from spinner Liam Patterson-White and tickles it to keeper Ishan Kishan, who takes a fine leg-side catch.

Abell hit seven fours and faced 166 balls - Archie Vaughan is his replacement.

  9. Postpublished at 15:33 British Summer Time

    Yorks v Essex 156-1

Yorkshire have been shuffling their pack of bowlers repeatedly to no avail - the conditions are just not in their favour as Essex continue to grow this second-wicket partnership.

Matthew Revis is the latest to turn his arm over, sending down a maiden to Tom Westley, but the home side would dearly love a wicket in the four overs that remain of the afternoon session.

Westley is 72 not out, with Dean Elgar on 60 at the other end.

  10. 100 runs

100 for Sam Robsonpublished at 15:27 British Summer Time

    Leics v Middx 201-2

    Sam RobsonImage source, Rex Features

Sam Robson notches his first century of the season as Middlesex look to rebuild after losing two wickets in quick succession.

The former Test opener gets there from 185 balls and takes Middlesex's total above 200 at the same time.

  11. Division Two round-uppublished at 15:22 British Summer Time

Two wickets in quick succession for Glamorgan against Gloucestershire, who are 148-4 after 57 overs, both to spinner Mason Crane - Miles Hammond (31) edged to first slip and Graeme van Buuren was caught behind.

Daniel Bell-Drummond is out in the middle now for Kent, following the dismissal of Ben Compton, and they are 194-3 after 54 overs against Northants.

Keaton Jennings and Chris Green have extended their partnership to 61 at Chesterfield, but Lancashire are 183-6 in the 52nd over.

Sam Robson is just three runs short of a century for Middlesex, who are 197-2 after 57 overs against Leicestershire at Grace Road.

Adam Hose has tucked into any loose deliveries with aplomb to find the rope 16 times.

He brings up his first century of the season from 126 balls with a thick edge for a couple off Nick Gubbins.

Off comes the lid, he's drenched in sweat but it was all worth it.

His stand with Jake Libby for this third wicket has also passed 150.

  13. Postpublished at 56 overs

    Somerset 170-4 v Notts

Tom Banton has the first boundary of his innings as he steers Liam Patterson-White to third man. We'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say that was a deliberate shot.

  14. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:14 British Summer Time

    Malik c Simpson b Sandhu 9 (Sussex v Warwickshire 189-4)

Sussex have picked up 3-15 in short order to take charge.

Gurinder Sandhu rumbles in and gets one to shape away from the right-handed Zen Malik is he comes forward in defence and he can only feather an edge through to keeper John Simpson.

Sam Hain is joined by Ed Barnard, the Bears' leading scorer this season.

The duo have work to do.

  15. Postpublished at 15:12 British Summer Time

    Sussex v Warwickshire 189-3

We've entered a new phase of the game at Hove.

Those two quick wickets have given Sussex the opportunity to bowl at two fresh batters, and Sam Hain and Zen Malik are taking their time trying to get up to speed, though Malik does have nine from 16 balls, two of those were boundaries.

  16. 200 runs

200 up for Pearspublished at 15:10 British Summer Time

    Hampshire v Worcs 201-2

Jake Libby moves to 63 with just his fifth four, clipping a stray one from Scott Currie off his pads and to the fine leg boundary.

it brings up the Pears 200 and moves the third-wicket stand past 140 with Adam Hose, who is unbeaten on 87 with 14 boundaries along the way.

In a pretty miserable summer for Worcestershire thus far, today has been a positive one, so far...

  17. 50 runs

50 for Sam Curranpublished at 15:10 British Summer Time

    Surrey 184-2 v Durham

Sam Curran, SurreyImage source, Rex Features

One of Sam Curran's least aggressive strokes so far in this innings, a leg-glance off Matthew Potts for a single, makes him the third Surrey player to pass 50 today.

Curran, who bludgeoned back to back fours off George Drissell in the previous over, gets to his half-century from 48 deliveries.

It's a third 50 of the season for the Surrey all-rounder.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 49.5 overs

    Compton c McManus b Broad 66 (Kent 181-3 v Northants)

Ben Compton's 100% conversion rate this season is over.

He pushes hard at a ball from Justin Broad and is caught behind, although he isn't thrilled by the decision and stands his ground for a number of seconds before walking off.

Division Two's leading scorer now has 895 runs for the season.

  19. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 15:05 British Summer Time

    Somerset 162-4 v Notts

    Bad miss.

Tom Banton, on two, edges and the chance is floored at first slip.

No real excuse there for Liam Patterson-White, it was pretty much straight at him.

  20. 'Why is the Kookaburra problematic in England?'published at 15:03 British Summer Time

    Sussex v Warwickshire 175-3

    Mike Taylor
    BBC WM commentator

The Kookaburra cricket ball is obviously a good enough product to be used around the rest of the world.

So what I'm not quite clear about is why it's use in England should be so problematic?

I can see that it is and I'm not denying the problem because enough people have told me and I can see it for myself in that it's not working.

Is it the physics? What's different about the conditions in England that is making it unusable?
