  1. Resumption at Hovepublished at 16:28 British Summer Time

    Sussex v Warwickshire 242-4

Sam Hain and Ed Barnard resume their quest for bonus points, whereas Sussex will be counting down the minutes until the new ball is available in 16 overs.

We're under way in the evening session.

  2. Division Two updatepublished at 16:23 British Summer Time

Tea has only just been taken between Derbyshire and Lancashire at Chesterfield, but they are back under way in Canterbury, where Kent have progressed to 225-3 at the start of the 68th over against Northants.

In Cardiff, Gloucestershire are now 177-5 after 69 overs against Glamorgan, James Bracey and Ben Charlesworth are still together.

Middlesex are continuing to build their total at Leicester - the visitors are now 228-2 and Sam Robson is 113 not out, having added 55 so far with Leus du Plooy.

  3. 200 up for Somersetpublished at 67 overs

    Somerset 202-5 v Notts

Archie Vaughan sends a flock of seagulls at mid-wicket (too many to count) flapping their way skywards as he pulls Brett Hutton away for four. He looks in positive mood today.

  4. Back under way at Southamptonpublished at 16:19 British Summer Time

    Hampshire v Worcs 261-2

Adam Hose has 133* and Jake Libby 76* as we begin the evening session under sunny skies on a flat track with a softening Kookaburra ball.

The Pears duo added 160 without loss in 34 overs this afternoon... what can they do in the final 32 of the day?

  5. Postpublished at 16:17 British Summer Time

    Yorks v Essex 168-1

Here's a remarkable fact - Yorkshire have just conceded their first extra of the day, a leg-bye for Dean Elgar off the bowling of Dom Bess.

It just shows how easy it would be to assume that, having taken just a single wicket so far, the home side haven't bowled accurately or consistently. That isn't the case - but the conditions really haven't done them any favours.

Meanwhile, Tom Westley and Dean Elgar have resumed their race towards three figures - although it's more tortoise than hare. Westley has 78 to his partner's 73.

  6. Tea at Chesterfieldpublished at 16:16 British Summer Time

    Derbyshire v Lancashire 238-6

Keaton Jennings has 106* at tea and Chris Green 55* - they have led Lancashire back from the brink, but can they keep going and claim some bonus points after the interval?

  7. Postpublished at 66.2 overs

    Somerset 194-5 v Notts

Archie Vaughan gives himself room and cracks Brett Hutton away square for four.

All three stumps were exposed by his backward shuffle.

He stays put for the next, which beats the outside edge. Good contest, this one.

  8. Tea at the Kia Ovalpublished at 16:13 British Summer Time

    Surrey 239-2 v Durham

Surrey are very much in control as the players head in for a belated tea.

Sam Curran has 86, Dom Sibley is on 83 - and the pair have added 131 so far for this second wicket as Durham's bowlers toil in the heat.

Remember, that was the visitors' choice after Alex Lees won the toss this morning.

  9. 100 runs

for Keaton Jenningspublished at 16:13 British Summer Time

    Derbyshire v Lancashire 233-6

A second century of the season for Keaton Jennings, and how his side needed it.

The 33-year-old brings up his 33rd first class ton with two overs of the session remaining with a leg-side clip off Ben Aitchison from the 178th ball he'd faced.

Chris Green had brought up his own half-century in the previous over from 80 balls and the pair have added an unbroken century for this seventh wicket at Chesterfield from 152 deliveries.

Six balls remain until tea, Lancashire have recovered from 44-4 to reach 233-6.

  10. Postpublished at 65 overs

    Somerset 186-5 v Notts

Brett Hutton thinks he has Archie Vaughan leg-before as he shuffles across his stumps. He doesn't - it's missing leg stump.

Two balls later he fizzes one past the outside edge. Vaughan suggests he was leaving that one alone - that may be kidology on his part.

  11. Postpublished at 16:07 British Summer Time

    Somerset 185-5 v Notts

It's a very warm day at Taunton but with two spinners in the Notts attack, play has pretty much run to time so far.

Two or three more wickets in the final session and the Division One leaders will be very happy indeed with their day's work.

Somerset need another significant partnership. Will Tom Banton and Archie Vaughan provide it? Stay with us to find out.

Brett Hutton - 2-39 so far - will bowl.

  12. Tea at Hovepublished at 16:07 British Summer Time

    Sussex v Warwickshire 242-4

Pretty good session for Sussex, who collected 3-15 at one stage to see the back of Tom Latham, Zen Malik and Rob Yates, who made a fine 93, with Henry Crocombe collecting the first three wickets to fall.

Sam Hain (33*) and Ed Barnard (23*) have played themselves in with a 50 partnership and will go in search of batting points after the interval.

A couple of wickets, or a couple of hours with one, could yet shape the course of the entire match in the evening session.

  13. Postpublished at 16:04 British Summer Time

    Surrey 227-2 v Durham

Glimmer of a chance for Durham as Dom Sibley pushes forward at George Drissell, but the ball falls just short of the fielder at short midwicket.

Sibley and Sam Curran are well set, to say the least - and the Surrey camp must have their sights set on going big in this first innings as we approach the tea interval.

  14. Breaking news...published at 16:03 British Summer Time

Ben Compton has signed a new three-year contract with Kent.

The 31-year-old was warded Kent Men’s Cap number 223 during the lunch interval of their game against Northants at Canterbury earlier today and went on to make 66 as the hosts reached 207-3 at tea.

The left-handed opener, who has spent the past three seasons with the club, will now be a Kent player until at least the end of the 2028 season.

  15. Tea at Southamptonpublished at 15:59 British Summer Time

    Hampshire v Worcs 260-2

A couple of balls before tea the 200 partnership comes up for the third wicket. Adam Hose has scored 132 of them with 62 for Jake Libby.

    Hose has a career-best 133* with Libby 76*.

What a comeback this has been from the Division One basement boys, who are enjoying their day in the sun.

Hampshire have toiled with the softening Kookaburra ball on a baking day and will look to come up with some new ideas over a cold beverage in the solace of the dressing room.

  16. Postpublished at 15:54 British Summer Time

    Sussex v Warwickshire 224-4

James Coles was fielding in the deep in a jersey for most of the action so far, which is unusual on a day like this, however he's removed it in order to send down an over of slow left-arm spin.

A couple of overs until tea, and how Sussex would like to put the cherry on the cake of the afternoon session with another scalp.

  17. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 15:52 British Summer Time

    Somerset 179-5 v Nottinghamshire

The wickets of James Rew and Tom Abell will have put a spring in the step of Division One leaders Notts, who are toiling manfully in the sun after Somerset chose to bat first at the toss.

Rew and Abell added 99 either side of lunch before the former gave a return catch to Lyndon James on 58.

Abell departed in the 62nd over, caught down the leg side for 69, but how costly will dropping Tom Banton on two prove to be for Notts? He is 12 not out at tea.

  18. 250 runs

250 up for Pearspublished at 15:51 British Summer Time

    Hampshire v Worcs 250-2

Worcestershire have a fourth batting bonus point this season, brought up with a couple for Jake Libby off Liam Dawson.

Indian bat Tilak Varma is on for the next over to try a few occasional offies in England for the first time - it's the seventh bowler the hosts have turned to in the opening 62 overs.

  19. Tea at Canterburypublished at 15:49 British Summer Time

    Kent 207-3 v Northamptonshire

Two 'leggies' operating in tandem for Northants up to tea at the Spitfire Ground, Yuzi Chahal and Calvin Harrison.

Tawanda Muyeye and Daniel Bell-Drummond survive a 14-over mini-session to the interval after Ben Compton departed for 66 - the first time this season he has not gone on from 50 to 100.

Kent add 97 in the session for the loss of teenager Ekansh Singh, who fell to Dom Leech one short of a maiden first-class 50, and Compton.

  20. Tea at Leicesterpublished at 15:49 British Summer Time

    Leics v Middx 219-2

Sam Robson remains unbeaten on 110 at the interval - his first hundred of the season - having shared an opening stand of 173 with Josh de Caires.

Both wickets fell in the same Roman Walker over, with that of De Caires (76) followed by Max Holden without scoring.

Middlesex will be happy with this position, though - having been put in to bat this morning by the league leaders.
