Yorkshire v Essex 140-1
A special guest at Clifton Park today and he will no doubt be enjoying Essex's batting performance so far. Yes, it's former England skipper Graham Gooch.
Keaton Jennings continues to lead the Lancashire fightback at Chesterfield - the opener and former Red Rose captain is 70 not out as his side have advanced to 158-6 against Derbyshire.
Leaders Leicestershire have finally broken the Middlesex opening partnership of 173, with Josh de Caires caught behind off Roman Walker for 76. Sam Robson is still there for the visitors, on 79.
Ben Compton is unbeaten on 63, with Kent progressing to 176-2 against Northamptonshire - although Ekansh Singh fell to Dom Leech, one short of his 50.
Gloucestershire, meanwhile, are 136-2 against Glamorgan with Ollie Price and Miles Hammond both set after the departures of opening pair Cameron Bancroft and Joe Phillips.

It is what it is with the Kookaburra ball, that's what has been decided but it just feels like a shame - there's a really good crowd in here today - and it's tough for the bowling side.
Somerset 157-4 v Notts
Tom Abell runs Lyndon James down to third man for an easy single and there is his 50, from 126 balls faced.
A fine innings so far by the ex-Somerset skipper, who now has Tom Banton out there with him following James Rew's dismissal.
Somerset 156-4 v Notts
Poor start to a new over by Lyndon James, who is short and wide and that's an easy four for Tom Abell.
James overcompensates with the next one, which is a better length but too straight, and Abell flicks to the fine leg boundary.
He is now 49 not out.

A very smart, reactive and reflex catch by Lyndon James.
It was a very solid connection by James Rew but he just couldn't keep it down and it's straight back towards the midriff of James who takes the sharp catch.
Notts needed that.
Hampshire v Worcs 177-2
A let-off for Adam Hose who clips Scott Currie straight at Fletcha Middleton at short leg, but can't get his hands down in time to prevent the ball hitting his foot and rolling away. Maybe a bit harsh to call it a drop, it's a hard one, but it was a chance, however.
The partnership is 117 from 206 balls and how the hosts wanted a breakthrough.
Hose remains on 69* with Jake Libby unbeaten on 57.
Yorks v Essex 137-1
Still no sign of a breakthrough for Yorkshire in this afternoon session, with Dean Elgar and Tom Westley content to keep building gradually.
Overseas signing Will Sutherland has joined George Hill in the bowling attack, but the batters have basically remained untroubled.
Westley and Elgar are more or less keeping pace with each other, on 61 and 60 respectively.
Yates c Hudson-Prentice b Crocombe 93 (Sussex v Warwickshire 175-3)
No century for Rob Yates.
He's pulled a short one from Henry Crocombe flat and straight into the hands of Fynn Hudson-Prentice at backward square leg.
142 balls with 15 fours but he's fallen into Josh Simpson's field setting trap, and that's three for Crocombe, who has put it where he's needed to for the most part.
Sam Hain is joined by Zen Malik with both still on 0.
Rew c and b James 58 (Somerset 145-4 v Notts)
What a bonus for Notts.
James Rew checks a drive and Lyndon James takes a return catch by his right hip in his follow-through.
Rew will be disappointed by that, as he was looking well set for a big score - and by the fact that he and Tom Abell have been parted one run short of a 100 partnership.
Surrey 162-2 v Durham
Durham have finally delved into the spin drawer, with George Drissell into the action from the Vauxhall End.
Drissell's first delivery is loose and punched past gully to the fence by Dom Sibley as the bowlers continue to toil.
Sam Curran is also finding the rope with regularity, slamming Jimmy Neesham to the cover boundary to raise the 50 partnership. The left-hander is 30 not out from just 26 balls.

The day seems to be sort of hanging in the balance as to who is going to seize the advantage.
It's very much even stevens at the moment.

At the moment, since lunch, it doesn't seem like Notts are able to add to that tally of three they got relatively early on.
Latham c Simpson b Crocombe 31 (Sussex v Warwickshire 174-2)
Just as the Bears are closing on a century stand for the second wicket, Tom Latham has been strangled down the leg side, following one from Henry Crocombe and nicking into the gloves of John Simpson.
That's two for Crocombe, in for Jofra Archer, remember, but Latham has had a torrid day in what should have been a batter's paradise. His torment is over, though you expect it might continue for a while in the cool shade of the changing room.
Sam Hain joins Rob Yates in the middle.
Yorks v Essex 125-1
A rare boundary in this afternoon session as Tom Westley cover drives Jack White - and that brings his partnership with Dean Elgar into three figures.
Westley has 57 and has once again overtaken Elgar, on 52.
Yorkshire have done well to keep the scoring rate down after lunch, however, with George Hill's medium pace proving particularly difficult for the batters to score off.
Sussex v Warwickshire 173-1
Rob Yates moves into the 90s with his 15th four, again taking advantage of the short boundary once again as he chops a short ball from Henry Crocombe past point and across the lightning outfield to the fence.
He has made batting look very simple all day.
Skipper Alex Davies, who holed out to the deep for 37, will have mixed emotions, happy his side are in total control but also knowing he's left a lot of runs out there personally.
Somerset 132-3 v Notts
If you've never seen Notts youngster Farhan Ahmed bowl, it's quite an interesting performance.
After a shake of each leg, he gathers himself by standing square on to the wicket for several seconds before beginning his run-up.
However, the second ball of his latest over is swept for four by James Rew, who is 55 not out.
Surrey 139-2 v Durham
The news on Matthew Potts is a bit more promising from a Durham - and maybe England - perspective as the seamer returns to the field following that injury prior to lunch.
However, Ben Raine has now gone off shortly after taking the wicket of Ryan Patel. It never rains but it pours...?
Sam Curran has started in belligerent mood for Surrey, crashing a couple of early boundaries to reach 18 from just 16 balls.
Hampshire v Worcs 156-2
Jake Libby has been completely unflustered since striding out this morning and has brought up a deserved half-century from 107 balls, four of which were boundaries, with a dab into the leg side off Liam Dawson for a couple.
He and Adam Hose are closing on a century stand for this third wicket.
Hampshire v Worcs 150-2

BBC Hereford & Worcester cricket commentator
That is Adam Hose's second 50 in first-class cricket this season.
The first one was when he made 82 down at Taunton as Worcestershire battled for a draw.
