  1. 'Length from Buckingham was key'published at 16:24 British Summer Time 2 May

    Yorkshire 205 v Warwickshire 30-1

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

Alex Davies went hard at the ball but the length from Jordan Buckingham was key there.

Davies didn't feel he could go fully to the ball and it's come off fairly low on the bat and gone comfortably to Harry Brook who's as safe as houses at slip.

  2. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:16 British Summer Time 2 May

    Davies c Brook b Buckingham 10 (Yorkshire 205 v Warwickshire 30-1)

First Yorkshire wicket for Jordan Buckingham.

The Aussie was losing the battle against Alex Davies but has won the war, as they say.

After Davies cut and then caressed him for back-to-back boundaries, Buckingham has had the final word as the Bears skipper goes at one without much foot movement and edges straight into Harry Brook's bread bin at third slip.

Hamza Shaikh is the new batter.

  3. Postpublished at 16:16 British Summer Time 2 May

    Somerset v Essex 161-7

Lewis Gregory is threatening with every ball of this spell so far.

This is usually the period where captains think about their part-time options, but with still 11 overs to go until the new ball, this old ball is doing a bit, swinging much more now than it did when new this am.

The weather conditions have not changed, but the lacquer has come off and Somerset are bowling better areas now getting a little assistance from the pitch to help too for good measure.

Fair play that S.Cook and N.Thain have lasted this long either side of the shorter interval.

  4. Postpublished at 16:09 British Summer Time 2 May

    Somerset v Essex 157-7

Lewis Gregory takes the 67th over for Somerset, from the Marcus Trescothick Pavilion End, getting a bit of movement away from the right hander.

Both batters have a little waft outside off, both get away with it, just two off the over.

  5. Postpublished at 16:09 British Summer Time 2 May

    Yorkshire 205 v Warwickshire 18-0

Close, not close for Jordan Bucklingham.

In his second over, it looks like Rob Yates is slightly done for pace as one nips back at him and takes his inside edge.

The obligatory hands-on-head-can't-believe-how-that's-not-hit-the-stumps reaction from the surrounding Yorkshire players as the ball whizzes to the fine-leg boundary.

Had it clattered the timbers, it wouldn't have counted as it was a no-ball.

As you were everyone. Except for the score, which increases by six.

  6. 100 runs

for Rishi Patelpublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 2 May

    Leics 215-6 v Northants

Leicestershire opener Rishi Patel goes to a fine century.

With wickets tumbling at the other end, Patel has held the innings together.

14 fours and a six for the right-hander and the Division Two leaders are in a decent position.

  7. Evening session in Tauntonpublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 2 May

    Somerset v Essex 155-7

Jack Leach bowls the first over after tea, not going for a run, the ninth time in 23 overs he has achieved that.

  8. Postpublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 2 May

    Yorkshire 205 v Warwickshire 11-0

Jordan Buckingham has only just got off the plane and the Australian's first over for Yorkshire was pretty encourging considering.

The Victorian arrives off the back of a double-trophy season at home with South Australia and reacquaints himself with cricket in England after a short spell with Northamptonshire two seasons ago.

Runs in hard, high elastic action. Looks like the ball's on to you slightly quicker than you expect.

Goes for six in his first over but only four of those off the bat.

  9. 'Leach has bowled beautifully'published at 16:03 British Summer Time 2 May

Somerset v Essex 155-7 - tea, day one

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

    Well, who’d have thought it?!

Essex losing 5-74 in the afternoon, three of them to the spin of Jack Leach, this on a pitch that looked for all the world like a seamer’s paradise.

Leach has bowled beautifully, well-supported as ever in the field - Craig Overton making the sharpest of slip catches look like the easiest thing in the world - with Josh Davey chipping in with the other two.

There is swing from one end and spin from the other. Somerset aren’t going to find batting easy when their turn comes.

  10. Tea at Southamptonpublished at 15:58 British Summer Time 2 May

    Hants v Durham 223-5

Liam Dawson delivers the final over of the afternoon session and drops one short to Graham Clark, who pulls it for a leg-side four.

That takes Clark to 62 not out at tea - and also ushers him past 3,000 first-class runs for Durham, who have enjoyed a pretty good session after being 82-4.

  11. Postpublished at 15:56 British Summer Time 2 May

    Yorkshire 205 v Warwickshire 4-0

Ben Coad was the last man out for Yorkshire and he's the first to get into the action as he takes the new ball. Four slips go down, which shows faith remains that this will not be that easy for the Warwickshire openers.

It's a probing first set too, challenging left-hander Rob Yates' knowledge of where his off stump is from around the wicket.

Yates finally tucks one off his hip to get himself and the Bears going.

  12. Postpublished at 15:49 British Summer Time 2 May

    Hants v Durham 217-5

George Drissell is finally off the mark after 16 balls, sweeping Felix Organ for a single and now he and Graham Clark will be eyeing the tea interval - just three overs away.

Durham will be more than happy with the way this afternoon session has gone so far, having been 82-4 soon after lunch.

  13. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 2 May

    Somerset v Essex 155-7

Migael Pretorius gets some serious movement both ways in the last over before the close, the ball seemingly doing more the older it gets and the drier and flatter the pitch is getting so far today!

An innings of starts so far for Essex.

30, 22, 20, 26, all in and all out between 20-30, not what you want from your top four really.

Noah Thain, the youngster preferred to Shane Snater at number seven ahead of Simon Harmer today, has 26* at the second interval amazingly which has seen 65 overs bowled-one more than the quota we should have (and very rarely do by 15.40).

Jack Leach bowling 22 overs today has done wonders for the over rate.

  14. 50 runs

50 for Graham Clarkpublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 2 May

    Hants v Durham 212-5

Graham Clark, DurhamImage source, Rex Features

A well-deserved 50 for Graham Clark, who gets there by dispatching Felix Organ to the cover boundary.

Clark started off with a string of fours, but then played more watchfully while Ollie Robinson did the bulk of the scoring in their partnership of 124.

It's his second half-century of the season and arrives from 81 balls.

  15. Postpublished at 15:38 British Summer Time 2 May

    Somerset v Essex 145-7

Migael Pretorius draws a soft handed edge from Noah Thain, just short of the slips, and we should now see the last over of the session from Jack Leach who now has figures of 21 overs, eight maidens 3-30 and Anthony Gibson has already asked Spencer Bishop for Leach to be his post-match interviewee....expecting a five-fer perhaps or just the main man of the day so far.

Still plenty of time in this day though, even if Somerset get through these last three wickets quickly, do not expect them to suddenly go and get the runs they scored v Worcestershire in the last home game here!

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:32 British Summer Time 2 May

    Robinson b Dawson 76 (Hants v Durham 206-5)

    There's the breakthrough Hampshire needed!

Ollie Robinson has been in great touch against the spinners, cutting and pulling - but this shot off the back foot against Liam Dawson is a poor one, he misses and the ball runs through to hit middle stump.

A disappointing end to an excellent knock of 76 from 94 balls and Robinson's stand of 124 with Graham Clark.

George Drissell is the new man in.

  17. wicket

WICKET - Yorkshire 205 all out (and tea)published at 15:32 British Summer Time 2 May

    Sears 28 c Webster b Bamber 28 (Yorkshire 205 v Warwickshire)

Ben Sears' cameo is KO-ed. Ethan Bamber has five.

It was fun while it lasted, for Sears and Yorkshire anyway, but Bamber has got his man and his maiden five-wicket haul for Warwickshire.

It's a very good job the visitors have a 6ft 7in man in at second slip as Beau Webster leaps and clings on to Sears' wild slash one-handed.

Only Webster, Olly Hannon-Dalby and any passing NBA player (unlikely) could've got that.

Yorkshire all out. BUT there's still something in this pitch.

Time to roll out that one about only knowing the true nature of a total when both sides have batted...

  18. 200 runs

200 for Yorkshirepublished at 15:31 British Summer Time 2 May

    Yorkshire 205-9 v Warwickshire

It's at that stage now where Yorkshire won't care how the runs come, it's how many.

Which is just as well because Ben Sears has no idea where that one has gone as he aims to clip Michael Booth through mid-wicket with the ball flying off the back of his bat at looping over the slips for four down to deep third.

There is a LOT more conviction about his next boundary in Ed Barnard's following over as he pulls him through mid-on.

He repeats the trick two balls later with a LOT more shovel about it.

Then next ball, he lifts it out the park for six!

200 up for Yorkshire - can they get to a bonus point?

  19. Postpublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 2 May

    Hants v Durham 191-4

Hampshire thought they had the breakthrough just now when Ollie Robinson, who had just reverse swept Felix Organ for four, tried to do it again.

The ball sailed up into the hands of the slip fielder, the players appealed for the catch - but Robinson stood his ground and eventually the umpires agreed that he had swept the ball onto the deck.

Without the use of Ultra Edge or similar, we'll probably never know for certain...

Hampshire's all-spin attack of Organ and Liam Dawson will just have to keep plugging away.

  20. Postpublished at 15:25 British Summer Time 2 May

    Somerset v Essex 144-7

Tom Banton nearly launches four overthrows over James Rew's head, he is then surprisingly put into slip, a position he rarely frequents.

Craig Overton is back on now and bowls an absolute beauty that is too good for Noah Thain to get a tickle, nor Jamal Richards nor Shane Snater or frankly anyone ever to have batted number seven for Essex perhaps.
