    Essex 187-1 v Surrey

Tom Westley celebrates centuryImage source, Rex Features

This has been an incredible innings by Essex captain Tom Westley.

The former England batter goes to his century with a 22nd four!

102 not out, 88 of which have come in boundaries.

That must be up there with the most fours scored in a hundred?!

  2. Postpublished at 11:42 British Summer Time 28 September

    Worcs 168-9 v Lancs

More frustration for Lancashire as the Pears' tail continues to wag, with Logan van Beek and Jack Home thwarting their hopes of a quick finish to the innings.

Their efforts with the bat are eating up valuable time for the visitors, who badly need to get out there and score quick runs as soon as they can.

  3. Yorkshire begin their first inningspublished at 11:42 British Summer Time 28 September

    Yorks 0-0 v Northants 147

Yorkshire have already extended their lead over third-placed Middlesex to 18 points and of course their promotion rivals are still unable to take the field at a damp Hove.

They're unlikely to do so till around 13:00 BST at the earliest, following a planned early lunch and inspection at midday.

Adam Lyth and Finlay Ben will open the innings for the hosts.

Lyth already has over 1000 runs to his name this season and will take strike first, facing Ben Sanderson.

Essex pair Dean Elgar and Tom Westley continue on their merry way against champions Surrey.

The hosts are now 174-1 at Chelmsford with Elgar on 71 and Westley 90 not out with 19 fours!

Durham captain Alex Lees has just reached his half-century against already-relegated Kent with his side on 80-0.

Glamorgan are still going along well in their Division Two game against Gloucestershire on 354-4. Chris Cooke has 83 and captain Sam Northeast, 55.

And we're finally going to get some play between Leicestershire and Derbyshire at midday. Derbyshire are bowling first.

  5. Innings break at Headingleypublished at 11:35 British Summer Time 28 September

    Yorks v Northants 147

Yorkshire wrapped up the Northants innings one hour into the day's play and now need a decent showing with the bat for at least a draw and of course promotion.

Ben Coad was the pick of the bowlers with 4-51 and Matt Fisher (3-46) mopped up the tail quickly this morning, dispatching Justin Broad, Ben Sanderson and Jack White inside five overs.

100 for Kyle Verreynnepublished at 11:33 British Summer Time 28 September

    Notts 388-7 v Warks

Kyle Verreynne (Notts)Image source, Rex Features

Kyle Verreynne suddenly appeared to be a man in a hurry when Michael Booth entered the attack.

He sliced the seamer's first delivery over the slips for four and pulled the next over the midwicket fence for six to advance to 97.

But after that the South African had to play the waiting game, with Brett Hutton dominating the strike and helping himself to three boundaries.

However, Verreynne finally gets to his first Nottinghamshire hundred in style from 119 balls, whipping Booth for another leg-side boundary.

  7. NORTHANTS ALL OUT FOR 147published at 11:32 British Summer Time 28 September
    Breaking

    Yorks v Northants 147

George Bartlett can't quite get the last ball through backward point for a single off Ben Coad so Jack White will now face Matt Fisher.

Jack White aims a flashing drive and misses outside off stump.

    This might not last long.

This time he leaves the ball outside off.

    And now he's out.

Full, straight and nicked to keeper Jonny Bairstow trying to defend.

Yorkshire pick up maximum bowling points and move ever closer to clinching promotion to Division One.

Seven more needed in theory... but with Middlesex not even on the field yet, they might have done enough already.

  8. 6 runs

Bartlett goes for goldpublished at 11:28 British Summer Time 28 September

    Yorks v Northants 147-9

Four slips and a leg slip in for Jack White, who defends to mid off to see out the Matt Fisher over.

The field is set deep for George Bartlett, facing Ben Coad.

Bartlett steers a ball to backward point and declines the single.

Bartlett plays and misses an away-seaming delivery that goes through to keeper Jonny Bairstow.

He gets a thick outside edge squared up on the crease and the ball runs away wide of the slips for two.

He goes for a pull... miscued and over the slips for two more.

A slog sweep on bended knee slams the fifth ball over deep square for six runs!

Goodness me, that's about two dozen rows back in the stands.

  9. wicket

WICKET Rew c Albert b Abbas 19published at 11:27 British Summer Time 28 September

    Somerset 136 & 108-7 v Hants 196

Well held at second slip as James Rew looks for the drive off Mohammad Abbas, now bowling from the River End.

Has his skipper's expansive start made Rew think he should play more aggressively, perhaps so perhaps not, but Somerset now into the bowlers with Jack Leach in at nine.

  10. Postpublished at 11:25 British Summer Time 28 September

    Somerset 136 & 104-6 v Hants 196

    Cat and mouse stuff this.

A fascinating battle between the Somerset skipper and one of England's finest spinners of this century.

Liam Dawson changes his length as Lewis Gregory runs down at him, but he is too good to miss it.

James Rew joins the charge and does similarly, but only three singles off that Dawson over compared to the boundary-laden previous one.

  11. wicket

WICKET Sanderson b Fisher 2published at 11:21 British Summer Time 28 September

    Yorks v Northants 137-9

George Bartlett whips a ball from Matt Fisher off his pads for a single.

Ben Sanderson is well behind the line, defending into mid wicket.

    Four slips are in position.

Sanderson leaves a wider ball outside off stump and is bowled by the fifth ball of the over!

He remains on 999 first-class career runs.

Late swing in between the bat and the pad. Superb delivery.

Jack White is last in for Northants.

  12. Five-wicket haul for Anderson Phillippublished at 11:21 British Summer Time 28 September

    Worcs 154-9 v Lancs

Anderson Phillip (Lancs)Image source, Rex Features

Well bowled Anderson Phillip - the Lancashire seamer gets through the defences of Joe Leach to complete a five-for and Worcestershire are nine down.

Jack Home is last man in for the Pears.

  13. Gregory on the chargepublished at 11:17 British Summer Time 28 September

    Somerset 136 & 98-6 v Hants 196

Lewis Gregory is going to play positively in his last knock of the year.

A cover drive off Kyle Abbott for four, then a shimmy and bop over Liam Dawson's head for four sees the home skipper onto eight off just four balls.

He is slightly lucky the next ball though as he just passes, the now long on, Tom Prest and earns another four.

The next boundary is beautiful again, timing through the covers for four.

Then six off Dawson, Gregory has 22 off nine balls!

  14. Postpublished at 11:17 British Summer Time 28 September

    Yorks v Northants 136-8

Single to George Bartlett, turning Ben Coad to long leg.

Another LBW appeal against Ben Sanderson is turned down for height and possibly a bit too leg side.

Sanderson is subsequently beaten outside off stump and an attempted punch off the back foot doesn't quite carry to extra cover.

He remains on 999 first class career runs.

  15. Postpublished at 11:13 British Summer Time 28 September

    Yorks v Northants 135-8

Big appeal first ball for Matt Fisher against Ben Sanderson for LBW but that ball is moving a lot and going down leg.

Two balls later, Sanderson is off the mark with a nudge to deep square leg for a couple.

Sanderson sees out the over trying to defend and edging just short of first slip.

  16. wicket

WICKET Broad b Fisher 0published at 11:11 British Summer Time 28 September

    Yorks v Northants 133-8

Three slips in for new batter Justin Broad, who pulls the bat inside the line as Ben Coad gets bounce and shape away from the off stump.

A fuller delivery is pushed defensively to mid on. Maiden over.

Matt Fisher will continue from the Howard Stand and a brilliant one-handed take from keeper Jonny Bairstow saves a leg side ball from running away for byes.

An LBW shout is turned down as Bartlett gets an inside edge into the leg side for a single.

Out! Justin Broad has been bowled!

Full, swinging in and ripping out off stump.

Ben Sanderson is in next with 997 first-class runs under his belt...

  17. wicket

WICKET: Lord lbw b Hannon-Dalby 31published at 11:10 British Summer Time 28 September

    Notts 358-7 v Warks

Hugs all round for Olly Hannon-Dalby as the Bears paceman picks up his 50th Championship wicket of the season!

Hannon-Dalby traps Rob Lord in front, the umpire's finger is raised and that's the end of this seventh-wicket partnership of 75.

Brett Hutton is the new man at the crease for Nottinghamshire.

  18. wicket

WICKET Aldridge c Prest b Abbott 11published at 11:07 British Summer Time 28 September

    Somerset 136 & 75-6 v Hants 196

Kasey Aldridge does not last 22 balls this time, but does score more runs than in his first innings.

After a brilliant time with England Lions against Sri Lanka and for Somerset in the One-Day Cup semi-final v Leicestershire, Aldridge has struggled a little this September.

Kyle Abbott finds his outside edge and Tom Prest holds a superb diving catch at slip to give the seamer a fourth wicket.

His departure brings Lewis Gregory in at number eight.

Somerset lead by just 15 runs.

  19. 50 runs

50 for George Bartlettpublished at 11:04 British Summer Time 28 September

    Yorks v Northants 132-7

George Bartlett drives Matt Fisher to backward point.

The ball was in the air for a while but lands in front of Will Luxton.

Shot! Driven through extra cover with a beautiful flow of the bat for four and that's his 50.

Back to back 50s for Bartlett, who also made a half century last week against Leicestershire.

This one was particularly hard earned against some very, very good bowling from the Tykes.

    80 balls with 11 fours.

  20. wicket

WICKET: Waite c Jennings b Phillip 60published at 11:02 British Summer Time 28 September

    Worcs 140-8 v Lancs

Finally, a glimmer of light for Lancashire...

Matthew Waite goes to pull a short ball from Anderson Phillip and mistimes the stroke completely as it loops up to the Lancashire captain in the slips.

Excellent knock from Waite, but he's on his way back to the dressing room and the retiring Joe Leach emerges to replace him.
