  1. Hope for Lancashire?published at 12:30 British Summer Time 28 September

    Worcs 180 v Lancs 13-2

Technically Lancashire could pick up 22 points from this game, rather than the full 24, and stay up. That equates to a first-innings score of 350 inside 110 overs, and then beating Worcestershire.

But they'll need Warwickshire to make less than 250 (zero batting bonus points) in their first innings at Notts and then lose, thus sending the Bears down.

  2. wicket

WICKET: Singh c Roderick b Leach 4published at 12:24 British Summer Time 28 September

    Worcs 180 v Lancs 13-2

Both Lancashire openers are gone already!

Joe Leach has a farewell wicket as he persuades Harry Singh to nibble one behind and Gareth Roderick does the rest.

Fair to say there's pressure on young Rocky Flintoff as he comes in to join Josh Bohannon...

  3. Bears pick up just two bowling pointspublished at 12:22 British Summer Time 28 September

    Notts 425-8 v Warks

Nottinghamshire have opted not to have a tilt at maximum batting points, concentrating instead on denying the Bears another point for bowling.

It's job done in that regard, with the Bears putting four men around the bat for the 110th over from Danny Briggs but Farhan Ahmed plays him sensibly and Warwickshire will have to settle for just two bowling points.

  4. 12:40 BST start at Hovepublished at 12:21 British Summer Time 28 September

    Sussex v Middlesex

Sussex have won the toss and chosen to bowl first.

We have a minimum of 80 overs in the day's play.

Middlesex need a big score to stand any real chance of beating Yorkshire to the final promotion spot.

  5. Jack White off injuredpublished at 12:19 British Summer Time 28 September

    Yorks 32-1 v Northants 147

Jack White has already had bad luck with injuries this season, in which he has played only four Championship matches (including this one) following a succession of painful setbacks.

Sadly, he will not be able to complete the eighth over of the innings and will leave the field.

Justin Broad completes the over and Wharton defends the ball into the off side.

  6. wicket

WICKET Gregory b Abbott 59published at 12:18 British Summer Time 28 September

    Somerset 136 & 163-8 v Hants 196

Lewis Gregory drives Kyle Abbott for four first ball of his return.

The South African possibly hoped his work until lunch was done but he has had to return again as James Fuller was taken for 12 without threatening in his first two overs of the innings.

Fourth ball of the 47th over, Abbott gets the key wicket of Gregory leaving just the bowlers now to add to Somerset's 103 run lead.

That's a fifth wicket in the innings for Abbott and ninth of the match!

  7. ouch!

Jack White struck by straight drivepublished at 12:16 British Summer Time 28 September

    Yorks 32-1 v Northants 147

James Wharton works a ball from Jack White into the on side for a couple of runs to move to six.

An attempted straight drive hits White on one of his legs in his follow through.

We might be pausing for a while.

  8. Postpublished at 12:11 British Summer Time 28 September

    Yorks 30-1 v Northants 147

Ben Sanderson finds a bit of extra bounce and James Wharton blocks almost with the splice of the bat to see out the over.

More shape back into the left-handed Adam Lyth, facing Jack White.

But the third ball is too full outside off and driven expertly through extra cover for four.

Four more driven with an emphatic flow of the bat through cover.

He'll keep the strike with a leg glance for one.

Four slips in for Sanderson and Lyth bottom edges a forcing back foot drive past his stumps for a single.

Shot! Wharton picks up four, driving down the ground with perfect balance. That's a stylish way to get off the mark.

  9. wicket

WICKET: Jennings c Jones b Waite 1published at 12:10 British Summer Time 28 September

    Worcs 180 v Lancs 5-1

Keaton Jennings battingImage source, Rex Features

Definitely not the start Lancashire wanted...

Keaton Jennings has been magnificent with the bat for them this season, but the captain departs in the second over, edging Matthew Waite to second slip.

Former Lancashire man Rob Jones takes the catch and Josh Bohannon strides out to replace Jennings at the wicket.

  10. wicket

WICKET: Hutton st Burgess b Yates 29published at 12:10 British Summer Time 28 September

    Notts 416-8 v Warks

Brett Hutton's batted well this morning, but he's undone by the off-breaks of Rob Yates as he comes down the track and is out of his ground as Michael Burgess takes off the bails.

Nottinghamshire eight down now and Farhan Ahmed comes out to the middle.

Can Warwickshire get what might be a crucial ninth wicket and third bowling bonus point in the next three overs?

Worcestershire's fielders line up to create a guard of honour for Joe LeachImage source, Ged Scott - BBC Sport

A lovely touch at New Road, as the Worcestershire players line up in a guard of honour for Pears stalwart Joe Leach.

Leach is playing his final first-class match before retirement and, given the state of the game, this might well be the last time he opens the bowling for Worcestershire.

Lancashire have 83 overs left today - and they need as many runs as they can get in that time.

  12. 50 runs

50 for Somerset skipper Lewis Gregorypublished at 12:04 British Summer Time 28 September

    Somerset 136 & 149-7 v Hants 196

Double change for Hampshire with James Fuller and Felix Organ into the attack for the first time this innings.

Organ's first ball is a little short, and with five men on the rope, Lewis Gregory eases a single for a crucial 50 in this low scoring thriller.

Eight fours and a six for Gregory, just 38 balls needed for his half century.

  13. wicket

WICKET Bean c McManus b Sanderson 11published at 12:02 British Summer Time 28 September

    Yorks 15-1 v Northants 147

Two more runs to Finlay Bean, working the ball off his hip through mid wicket.

There's a bit of late swing for Ben Sanderson as he beats Bean outside off and keeper Lewis McManus moves sharply to his right to take the ball.

Got him! Finaly Bean is forward to defend and feathers the ball through to the keeper.

James Wharton is in at three for the hosts.

  14. Postpublished at 12:01 British Summer Time 28 September

    Notts 414-7 v Warks

With Nottinghamshire continuing to accumulate runs here, it's the visitors who might just be getting a tad nervous if Lancashire bat strongly at New Road.

Warwickshire have picked up two bonus points with the ball so far, but they've only got five overs left to take two more wickets and make it a full complement.

If that doesn't happen, the Bears might need a few points when they bat to make absolutely sure they can't be caught by Lancashire.

  15. Postpublished at 11:58 British Summer Time 28 September

    Yorks 13-0 v Northants 147

Ben Sanderson is bowling round the wicket to the left-handed Finlay Bean, who leaves the ball outside off stump.

Bean picks up a single to fine leg off a thick inside edge going forward to defend.

Sanderson switches to over the wicket and beats Adam Lyth outside off stump.

Finlay Bean miscues an attempted glance to leg and gets a thick edge off Jack White to deep third and runs three.

White adjusts his line slightly and Lyth blocks into the off side.

Single to Lyth to square leg.

The last ball of the over is played to deep third and Saif Zaib beats the ball to the rope. Three runs.

  16. Glamorgan & Gloucs forfeit inningspublished at 11:54 British Summer Time 28 September

    Glamorgan 381-4 dec & 0-0 dec v Gloucs 0-0 dec (target 382)

    Well, well!

With little riding on this Division Two match and the forecast not looking great in Cardiff on Sunday, both captains have had a chat and decided to make a game of it.

Glamorgan declare their first innings on 381-4, both sides then forfeit an innings, meaning Gloucestershire will chase 382 to win.

    Love it!

  17. Postpublished at 11:53 British Summer Time 28 September

    Somerset 136 & 137-7 v Hants 196

Lewis Gregory is living a bit of a charmed life, fortune favours the brave as they say.

He slashes Mo Abbas just between second slip and fourth slip again for four having chipped one just between long off and deep extra cover off Liam Dawson previously.

Somerset now past their first innings total, just.

  18. Postpublished at 11:50 British Summer Time 28 September

    Yorks 5-0 v Northants 147

Adam Lyth is forward to Ben Sanderson, pushing into the off side.

He's off the mark second ball, tucking a leg side ball fine for one.

Finlay Bean leaves outside off at first and then runs his second ball behind backward point on the front foot for two.

Jack White will share the new ball from the Howard Stand End and immediately gets the ball to jag in sharply from the seam.

Lyth almost overbalances as he digs the ball out into the off side.

An LBW shout is turned down later in the over. Adjacent but probably seaming a bit too much down leg.

The last ball of the over is full and tucked round the corner for two.

  19. WORCESTERSHIRE ALL OUT FOR 180published at 11:49 British Summer Time 28 September

    Worcs 180 v Lancs

Logan van Beek misses out on a half-century, falling for 48 as George Balderson bowls him with one that kept low.

That's the end of the Pears' first innings, but they'll be pleased with their efforts this morning. Teenager Jack Home finishes unbeaten on 13, having helped Van Beek to add 26 for the last wicket.

For Lancashire, it's now time to strap on their pads and go hard with the bat if they're to have any chance of saving themselves from relegation.

  20. Notts total passes 400published at 11:47 British Summer Time 28 September

    Notts 406-7 v Warks

Brett Hutton secures a fourth batting bonus point for his side, steering Ed Barnard to the cover boundary - and then pulls the next ball for four more.

With nine overs remaining until the cut-off for bonus points, Nottinghamshire might feel it's worth their while to throw the bat and try to reach 450.

Notts are already in a position where it'd take some doing for them to lose this game - and a draw keeps them up, whatever Lancashire do at New Road.
