    Notts 36-1 v Lancashire 331

    Help yourself!

A loose low full toss from Tom Bailey and Will Young flays it through midwicket for four.

The New Zealand batter is a fine player to have at number three for Nottinghamshire.

And after five overs and the wicket, Saqib Mahmood is withdrawn from the attack with George Balderson to bowl.

  2. Wicketless Carsepublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 11 May

    Hampshire 385-5 v Durham

While Olly Stone and Saqib Mahmood are in the wickets at Trent Bridge, Brydon Carse is finding things a bit harder for Durham.

He is hitting the pitch hard in search of a breakthrough, but the Hampshire batters are very watchful.

Carse has a two-year central contract with England, but he is without a wicket in the Championship this season.

He has figures of 0-52 from 17 overs here and 0-128 and 0-92 from his two previous games.

  3. 'Great for England to see Stone and Mahmood'published at 12:03 British Summer Time 11 May

We were saying yesterday how well Olly Stone bowled, he bowled really quickly. That opening spell with the new ball was terrific.

Then he came back late in the day with the second new ball and was equally as quick and backed up by Dillon Pennington at the other end.

But on that broader picture with the stories coming through about it potentially might be Jimmy Anderson's last summer with England and they are looking for an attack further down the line - to see Stone and Saqib Mahmood both in this game, both back to full fitness.

    It's great for England.

  4. 350 up for Worcspublished at 12:03 British Summer Time 11 May

    Kent v Worcs 356-5

Worcestershire get the third batting point with five balls to spare.

Still no breakthrough for Kent today with Pears batters Adam Hose on 74 and Rob Jones on 19.

  5. GLOS ALL OUT FOR 409published at 11:58 British Summer Time 11 May

    Northants v Glos 409

Ajeet Singh Dale is last man out lbw to Liam Patterson-White as Northants wrap up the Glos innings just about within the opening hour.

The two wickets they needed coming in consecutive overs.

  6. Five-wicket haul for Siddarth Kaulpublished at 11:56 British Summer Time 11 May

    Northants v Glos 404-9

    Well done that man!

Siddarth Kaul has a five-fer on his Northants debut - not bad going for the India international.

Josh Shaw departs for 44 as he is out lbw trying to flick the ball off his pads.

One wicket left for the hosts to get.

Marchant de Lange needs 14 for a half-century.

  7. wicket

WICKET Slater c Bell b Mahmood 4published at 11:55 British Summer Time 11 May

    Notts 18-1 v Lancashire 331

Saq is back with a wicket!

The last ball of Saqib Mahmood's third over is full and quick and Ben Slater is lured into a drive which is straight to George Bell at third slip.

    A first red-ball wicket for 12 months.

  8. End of bonus pointspublished at 11:53 British Summer Time 11 May

    Hampshire 377-5 v Durham

Callum Parkinson's over is the 110th of the innings and concludes the chance for bonus points.

Tom Prest and Ben Brown gather a couple of singles apiece, but Hampshire are well short of a fourth batting point.

While it's a single bowling one for Durham - perhaps proof that the pitch here is again a slog for the bowlers.

  9. 400 up for Glospublished at 11:53 British Summer Time 11 May

    Northants v Glos 404-8

A fourth batting point in the bag for the visitors and it's thanks to another mighty swing by Marchant de Lange which goes for six.

It lands near an ice cream van which I'm sure will be in good use today.

Glos have been looking to push their score on quickly.

  10. 'Glamorgan worrying about follow-on'published at 11:49 British Summer Time 11 May

    Glamorgan 55-4 v Sussex 278

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

A superb opening spell from West Indies quick Jayden Seales ripped through the Glamorgan top order as they struggled to cope with his pace.

The powerful Seales nipped one back a long way to bowl Billy Root, playing no shot, before a short ball saw nightwatchman Mason Crane lobbing to wicket-keeper John Simpson.

Sam Northeast then got a ball he had to play just outside off, and edged to Simpson.

Suddenly Glamorgan were left worrying about the follow-on figure of 129 against the Division Two leaders.

  11. Postpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 11 May

    Surrey 4-0 v Warwickshire 343

First runs off the bat for Surrey and it is a boundary for Dom Sibley.

Aamer Jamal offers up a half-volley outside off and Sibley doesn't miss out.

  12. 'Acid test for Warwickshire attack'published at 11:45 British Summer Time 11 May

    Surrey 0-0 v Warwickshire 343

    Richard Wilford
    BBC Radio WM commentator

It's a competitive total and you get the sense that there might be a lot of runs in this.

It's a real test for a Warwickshire attack that hasn't had the teeth they are really going to need this year. They haven't looked like bowling teams out with any regularity.

They've bowled with real control in some of the games with the Kookaburra ball in the early part of the season but this is going to be an acid test of what they can do with three full-time seamers, two decent part-time seamers in Will Rhodes and Ed Barnard and then the spin of Rob Yates, Jacob Bethell and a little bit of Dan Mousley.

So they have got quite a few options but up against this Surrey line up who will want to score quickly, they'll want to get as many batting points out of this as they can.

  13. Postpublished at 11:43 British Summer Time 11 May

    Surrey 0-0 v Warwickshire 343

Rory Burns and Dom Sibley have already had two century stands this season - 147 and 167.

The Surrey openers are capable of setting up the innings for this powerful batting line up.

But the ever-reliable Ollie Hannon-Dalby opens with a maiden for the Bears.

  14. Seales on songpublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 11 May

    Glamorgan 50-4 v Sussex 278

Glamorgan have lost three wickets for 16 runs and Jayden Seales has all three of them.

Home captain and Division Two's leading run-scorer Sam Northeast has gone for just five in a major blow for his team.

He has scored 567 run this season and had been averaging 94 so that's a big wicket for Sussex.

Seales is the leading wicket taker in Division Two and it's not hard to see why.

  15. Postpublished at 11:39 British Summer Time 11 May

    Notts 6-0 v Lancashire 331

Saqib Mahmood is given three slips and a gully by Lancashire captain Keaton Jennings - a real sign of backing.

A decent first over is somewhat marred by the final ball as Ben Slater guides it past those four fielders down to the boundary for four.

    Five runs off the over.

  16. 'Mahmood to bowl in the County Championship for the first time in a year'published at 11:36 British Summer Time 11 May

    Notts 1-0 v Lancashire 331 all out

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

'Looking to build a bowling attack for the future' is what was reported yesterday as England appear to be looking beyond James Anderson.

Well two bowlers on show here at Trent Bridge this week probably fall into that category.

Olly Stone and Saqib Mahmood, both back after recovering from injuries which have ruined their recent summers.

Stone bowled well yesterday, and he bowled quickly, which is a great sign for McCullum and Stokes.

He's finished with three wickets, now it's over to Mahmood, after considering not playing any red ball cricket this year, he's bowling in the County Championship for the first time in a year.

  17. Third batting point for Hantspublished at 11:34 British Summer Time 11 May

    Hampshire 353-5 v Durham

Tom Prest goes for a big drive but his inside edge still brings him two runs and the team's 350 comes up and with it a third batting point.

Prest is on 75 and the emphasis will be on him to lead Hampshire well past 400.

  18. wicket

WARWICKSHIRE ALL OUT FOR 343published at 11:31 British Summer Time 11 May

Surrey v Warwickshire 343 all out

With last man Ollie Hannon-Dalby for company, Ed Barnard decides he needs to go for a big shot off Dan Lawrence.

He uses his feet to come down the track, but he hits it straight into the hands of Dom Sibley at cover.

Still, a terrific innings from Barnard of 108 that has put the Bears in the game.

Warwickshire fall seven short of a third batting point from 167-6, it is a good recovery.

  19. Postpublished at 11:30 British Summer Time 11 May

    Kent v Worcs 329-5

A good opening half hour for Pears batters Adam Hose and Rob Jones.

Hose is now on 60 not out as the visitors look to move towards 350.

  20. 'Barnard has shown a lot of maturity'published at 11:26 British Summer Time 11 May

    Surrey v Warwickshire 343-9

    Dan Whiting
    BBC Radio London

That is Ed Barnard's sixth first-class 100 and it's been a real fighting knock.

He's shown a lot of maturity out there.
