Warwickshire must have begun to glimpse the winning post when they dismissed Dean Elgar yesterday to leave Essex four down and needing 218 more to reach their target.

However, in a game where the pendulum has been swinging repeatedly, Jordan Cox and Matt Critchley have wrenched it back into the home side’s favour with their unbroken partnership of 112.

Essex need another 106, Warwickshire want six wickets – it promises to be another gripping morning at Chelmsford.

  2. Final day begins at Blackpoolpublished at 10:59 British Summer Time 20 May

    Lancashire v Durham 134-3 (target 475)

It’s already been a memorable three days in Blackpool for Lancashire’s Tom Aspinwall – the 20-year-old has collected seven wickets in the match so far as the Red Rose eye a first win of the season against Durham.

Seven more wickets remain up for grabs as Durham battle for survival and, with Division One’s leading run-scorer David Bedingham at the crease on 31, their chances of thwarting Lancashire cannot be ruled out.

And, with a certain Ben Stokes due in next, who’s to say even an apparently insurmountable victory target of 475 is completely out of the visitors’ reach?

Aspinwall gets us under way on day four, bowling to Bedingham.

  3. Run chase resumes at Trent Bridgepublished at 10:59 British Summer Time 20 May

    Notts v Hants 84-5 (target 169)

    This is tense.

Hampshire need this win to lift themselves out of the relegation zone they currently occupy with Lancashire.

The target has dipped below 100 thanks to an unbeaten partnership of 40 between Fletcha Middleton (33 not out) and James Fuller, on 23.

Quite a recovery after losing their first five wickets in 23 overs.

Two of those wickets fell to the impressive Dillon Pennington, one of a few candidates for a new look England bowling attack we'll be keeping tabs on today.

Notts may only need four wickets to wrap this game up and remain in the top half of the table, given the shoulder injury sustained by Tom Prest.

However, he is still at the ground so he might bat.

Fletcha Middleton is on strike, facing Dillon Pennigton.

The three games remaining in Division Two aren't quite as advanced as those in Division One.

After their record-breaking 706-6 declared, Gloucestershire still need 10 Leicestershire wickets on the final day to wrap up victory.

Northants built a lead of 255 at Derbyshire, they'll be looking to stretch that this morning with eight wickets still in hand.

And Glamorgan lost late wickets last night against Middlesex. They resume on 294-7 in Cardiff, but only 134 in front.

Surrey's 281-run victory over Worcestershire on Sunday took them 40 points clear at the top of Division One.

But second-placed Essex and third-placed Somerset are both looking for victories today to claw back some of the deficit.

Essex need another 106 runs with six wickets in hand to beat Warwickshire after a superb fightback on day three.

Somerset were pummelled by Zak Crawley's 238 for Kent, but they'll be looking for five quick wickets to keep their fourth-innings target as small as possible. The visitors only lead by 33 at Taunton.

Durham have Ben Stokes waiting to come in at six, but have a huge chase against Lancashire at Blackpool - they resume on 134-3 with a target of 475.

And it's game on at Trent Bridge where Notts need another five Hampshire wickets - Hants require 85 more runs for victory.
