  1. 'It couldn't, could it?'published at 11:53 BST 26 September

    Sussex 28-4 Target 61

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

This is extraordinary and all of a sudden sudden Sussex are 28-4.

    It couldn't, could it?

We were thinking we'd be done and dusted by lunch, packed up and on my way home with Sussex with a fourth win of the season. That could still be the case but my word, all credit to Worcestershire.

  2. Postpublished at 11:53 BST 26 September

    Essex 365-4 v Somerset 433

Lewis Gregory is a bit too full here.

Matt Critchley drives through cover point for four.

More runs for Critchley, who drives handsomely down the ground and into the sight screen at the far end for four.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:52 BST 26 September

    Bess c Hogg b Potts 18 (Yorks 357-7 v Durham 346)

Dom Bess was a touch lucky to survive an edge off Shafiq Ghafari on 10 but he has holed out to Dan Hogg at square leg.

It has cost just eight runs.

  4. Postpublished at 11:50 BST 26 September

    Notts 374 v Warwicks 258 & 54-4

Decent LBW shout for Brett Hutton as Zen Malik plays across the line and misses.

Not out. Just straying down leg.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:48 BST 26 September

    Alsop c Allison b Taylor 0 (Sussex 28-4 Target 61)

What is happening at New Road?

Worcs are rattling through Sussex like a dose of salts, that's what.

This one is a straightforward edge from Tom Alsop which is grabbed low to his right at third slip by Ben Allison.

  6. Durham need 'a few snookers and perhaps a miracle'published at 11:48 BST 26 September

    Yorkshire 357-6 v Durham 346 - Yorks lead by 11 runs

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Ben Raine has managed to take a wicket this morning, which has given Durham a second bowling point, but it may all be in vain, in terms of trying to avoid relegation.

Matthew Revis fell LBW for 38 after putting on a 50-stand with George Hill. Durham really need to win this one to stay up, given the way Hampshire have had the better of Surrey so far.

The problem is Yorkshire are standing firm. Their players know they simply need to bat out time in this one and as long as they don't lose they stay up.

As a result Durham look flat in the field and I can't see how they will end up in a position where they can win this. They really need a favour from Surrey.

A few snookers and perhaps a miracle for good measure.

  7. dropped catch

Dropped catch Malik dropped on 11published at 11:48 BST 26 September

    Notts 374 v Warwicks 258 & 54-4

Another fine shot from Sam Hain, glancing a leg side ball from Dillon Pennington behind square for four.

A single off the second ball and Zen Malik gets a four with an immaculate back foot cover drive. He's on 11.

Edged! But the ball goes very low and fast between second and third slip for four.

Just about carried but it would've been an astonishingly good grab.

A more assured four off the next ball, guided carefully to deep third.

17 runs come off that over.

  9. 'What a funny old game cricket is'published at 11:45 BST 26 September

    Sussex 27-3 Target 61

    Frank Watson
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

Well what a funny old game cricket is, mother cricket and all that.

James Coles got 100 in the first innings and now a first baller in this second.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:43 BST 26 September

    Coles c Lategan b Allison 0 (Sussex 27-3 Target 61)

    And another....

They couldn't could they? Almost certainly not, but they are at least going down fighting.

A fairly inocuous delivery which is chipped tamely by James Coles to mid on and the first innings centurion will be back in time for the first foursomes match.

  11. Essex pass 350 against Somersetpublished at 11:43 BST 26 September

    Essex 353-4 v Somerset 433

Another batting bonus point for Essex, now almost certain to remain in the top flight next season.

Matt Critchley is back to Lewis Gregory to carve through point for a very important four runs.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:42 BST 26 September

    Hughes c Gibbon b Taylor 16 (Sussex 22-2 Target: 61)

Daniel Hughes has clipped a half volley perfectly off his pads and picked out the man on the square leg boundary, Ben Gibbon, who does not have to move.

Well he moved his hands, but you know what we mean.

  13. 50 runs

50 for Rishi Patelpublished at 11:41 BST 26 September

    Northants 189 v Leics 429 & 151-3

Rishi Patel is forward on a bending knee to Stuart van der Merwe, lofting the bowler down the ground for four.

That takes him to 50 off 115 balls with seven fours.

His sixth score of 50 or more this season. The Leicestershire opener also has two centuries in this campaign.

The innings 150 arrives off the same bowler via a lofted drive from Patel to long off.

  14. dropped catch

Bess dropped on 10published at 11:40 BST 26 September

    Yorks 352-6 v Durham 346

This is all going badly for Durham with Hants looking strong favourites for the win against Surrey and Yorks moving ahead of their first innings score and picking up a third batting point as well.

Durham need to win this match and at the moment that seems unlikely.

To add to the sense of deflation Dom Bess is dropped/missed off Shafiq Gharari on 10 at slip although Matt Potts did not even make a move, appearing unsighted as it flashed past his left shoulder.

  15. new ball

New ball taken at Chelmsfordpublished at 11:32 BST 26 September

    Essex 344-4 v Somerset 433

Jake Ball has the new nut.

Two slips in for Matt Critchley, who defends down the ground.

Critchley drives, misses and is hit on the pad in front of the stumps.

Not out. Going down leg. Maiden over.

The new ball will be shared with Somerset captain Lewis Gregory.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:30 BST 26 September

    Chahar c Albert b Fuller 10 (Surrey 257-9, lead by 156 runs)

Huge top edge and Toby Albert has taken the catch at midwicket.

Rahul Chahar has been a little uncertain against shorter balls and he has pulled that off a top edge high into the Southampton sky.

It has taken an age to come down but Toby Albert has steadied himself and put Hants within one wicket of a chase.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:26 BST 26 September

    Haines c Jones b Taylor 1 (Sussex 21-1 Target: 61)

Stunner at second slip from Rob Jones.

That was flying off a hard driven edge from Tom Haines and the Worcs man has stuck up a hand more in hope than anything else and it has stuck.

    Great grab.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:24 BST 26 September

    Young c James b Abbas 9 (Notts 374 v Warwicks 258 & 29-4)

Notts strike just inside the first hour and that could be a key scalp.

Will Young is forward and across to Mo Abbas and he's got a big inside edge through to Lyndon James on the leg side.

    Zen Malik is in next.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:20 BST 26 September

    Hill LBW b Scrimshaw 38 (Northants 189 v Leics 429 & 128-3)

Breakthrough for Northants and George Scrimshaw - but the hosts remain a long way back.

Lewis Hill is barely in front of the crease and late on a pushed drive to a ball that angles in and strikes him low on the pad.

Stephen Eskinazi (first innings centurion) to bat next.

  20. Postpublished at 11:19 BST 26 September

    Essex 341-4 v Somerset 433

Charlie Allison edges Jake Ball but safely into the off side for a single.

Kasey Aldridge continues from the Graham Gooch End and Allison pushes to deep third for a couple more runs.

Single dabbed into the off side.

Matt Critchley gets one to deep square leg.

A firm drive into the off side from Allison is stopped in front of the boundary by Jake Ball for three.
