  1. 'Somerset need to be careful'published at 15:26 BST 26 September

    Essex 438 v Somerset 433 & 59-3

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Waste of a wicket, I'm not sure where James Rew was quite sure where he was trying to hit that but he got a top edge on it and it was a straightforward catch.

Somerset need to be careful, they do bat a long way down, not that they've got much to lose.

Ben Slater pushes into the leg side for one. Four to win.

Haseeb Hameed sees out the over.

Four! Ben Slater guides it to deep third.

    Five to win.

  4. 'Senseless from Dawson'published at 15:21 BST 26 September

    Hants 106-6, target 181

    Amelia Clark
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

That's senseless. I'm one of Liam Dawson's biggest fans but that was a rush of blood to the head.

It was wide, it was out there but it went to Ryan Patel at cover.

    Hants 106-6 (target 181)

Washington Sundar has an injured finger but plenty is loaded on his shoulders given his ability to play spin.

He scored 56 in the first innings and looked comfortable, particularly against compatriot Rahul Chahar.

They could do with another half century here.

  6. Postpublished at 15:21 BST 26 September

    Notts 9-0 - target 18

What does Haseeb Hameed do here?

He drops Nathan Gilchrist on to the leg side for one.

Ben Slater needs seven more for 1000 for the season.

    Rew c Thain b Bennett 19 (Essex 438 v Somerset 433 & 59-3)

Horrid shot. James Rew has lifted a leg side ball from Charlie Bennett to Noah Thain in the deep and now Tom Kohler-Cadmore is in.

  8. Postpublished at 15:19 BST 26 September

    Notts 8-0 - target 18

Ben Slater picks a new bat from Matthew Montgomery's selection and drives to mid off for no run. Not a toe end shot this time though.

The fifth ball is cut behind point for four!

    Notts are away.

    Four more!

  9. 'No threat of rain but it is grey'published at 15:17 BST 26 September

    Essex 438 v Somerset 433 & 59-2

    Victoria Polley
    BBC Essex Sports Editor

Still no threat of wet weather but it's grey and dull here at Chelmsford. There is a breeze around.

  10. New bats, pleasepublished at 15:17 BST 26 September

    Notts 0-0 - target 18

Ben Slater drives without timing it through the off side. No run.

Off the toe end. Same again! A new bat is coming on.

Honestly, you couldn't make this up...

    Dawson c Patel b Chahar 8 (Hants 105-6, target 181)

A rush of blood to the head and Liam Dawson has picked out Ryan Patel at extra cover.

There was no need to put that aerial but he has gone down on his back knee and hit it up into the off side where Patel snaffles the catch.

Hants are throwing away their Division One status wicket by wicket.

  12. Division Two updatepublished at 15:16 BST 26 September

    #bbccricket

Kent are three down against Derbyshire and Luis Reece has taken all three of them to take him to 48 wickets for the season.

I suggested he would be looking for five to make it 50 a little earlier and he seems intent on doing so. He has 3-8 from five overs and Kent are going nowhere fast on 35-3.

Glamorgan are 209-8 against Lancashire - giving them a lead of exactly 100 runs. Chris Cooke (36*) and Mason Crane (14*) had added 20 together so far as the hosts look to stretch out that advantage as much as possible.

Gloucestershire have lost the first wicket of the follow-on against Middlesex, with Ben Charlesworth going for nine to leave them 19-1.

  13. Big shout - not outpublished at 15:15 BST 26 September

    Yorks 461-9 v Durham 346

Now Matthew Potts has a massive shout for leg before on Jordan Thompson which looks very, very good but his appeal is turned down.

That is full, looks to pitch in line and must surely have been smashing into two poles but no good.

Umpire's call on impact is about the only way that is not out.

  14. Final chase is on at Trent Bridgepublished at 15:15 BST 26 September

    Notts 0-0 - target 18

Here come Notts captain Haseeb Hameed and opening partner Ben Slater to chase down these runs.

    Penny for their thoughts?

Slater takes guard first, facing Michael Booth.

He needs 15 for 1000 runs for the season.

    Milnes c Potts b Ghafari 8 (Yorks 461-9 v Durham 346)

Bit of a loose swing outside off with little foot movement and Matthew Potts takes the catch at slip.

  16. Postpublished at 15:14 BST 26 September

    Essex 438 v Somerset 433 & 51-2

    35 ahead now.

The light is fading a bit as Doug Bracewell runs in to bowl from the Graham Gooch End.

James Rew turns the ball away leg side for two.

The second ball is driven through the off side for one after a good stop from Essex skipper Tom Westley at mid off.

Josh Thomas drives down the ground for four. Checked drive with a slightly crooked bat but still sweet timing. Four more driven through cover point!

46 ahead and that's the innings 50 in 13 overs.

  17. Postpublished at 15:08 BST 26 September

    Yorks 461-9 v Durham 346

The Durham players will not be aware what is happening at Southampton but this is turning in their favour despite them struggling at Headingley.

A Hants collapse is gifting them a lifeline their performance here probably does not deserve.

Of course they will take it however it comes but if things keep going Surrey's way Durham could be left with a draw being enough.

We are getting ahead of ourselves but you do wonder whether that is the way it's going to play out.

  18. 'What a time to pick that wicket up'published at 15:08 BST 26 September

    Hants 96-5, target: 181

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

Ali Orr's innings come to an end and what a time to pick that wicket up.

It's a nice bit of bowling from Rahul Chahar.

I wondered whether Washington Sundar might come out because they sort of need him out there. James Fuller is attack-minded by nature but I just think at the moment Surrey are all over Hampshire now.

  19. Postpublished at 15:04 BST 26 September

    Northants 52-2 - target 501

Rob Keogh drives fast bowler Josh Hull through the off side to bring up a four and the Northants 50 in the 20th over, but survival to tea is of course the immediate goal from here.

Keogh has 30 not out and James Sales is on five.

    Orr b Chahar 48 (Hants 96-5, target: 181)

Bowled round his legs and Hants are wobbling.

Ali Orr had looked good but was slightly off balance going for a sweep and he has missed the pitch and the ball.

These two spinners are proving almost unplayable for Hants even if some of it is probably in their heads.

Hants were 61-0 and they have lost 35-5.

James Fuller is the new batsman and plenty is riding on his shoulders.
