  1. 'A good early breakthrough'published at 14:42 British Summer Time 30 July

    Notts 6-1 v Somerset 438

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

It hadn't been the most threatening Craig Overton over until that ball, but he certainly cranked it up there.

Slater's gone there without offering a shot.

    A good early breakthrough.

Five balls of loosening up, then the final ball of his first over, Craig Overton makes Ben Slater pay for leaving one, both bails knocked into the air.

23-year-old left-hander Freddie McCann is in at three averaging over 40, but still 10th in the Notts batting averages showing their batting prowess in the Championship this season!

  3. Postpublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 30 July

    Notts 0-0 v Somerset 438

Notts captain Haseeb Hameed and his left-handed opening partner Ben Slater come out to knock off this 438 defecit for Notts to put more daylight between them and their chasing opponents Somerset in third.

Opposition skipper Lewis Gregory does what many club captains love or wish they could get away with doing; opening the batting and the bowling.

His attitude will be that there is little chance his bowling can be as bad as his batting effort-out for a duck, Somerset were 0-2!

  4. 100 runs

Charlie Allison has scored three centuries this season

Charlie Allison continues his rapid rise through the ranks with a third century in only his ninth first class match.

The England U19 star made his debut hundred came in May against Surrey and he followed that up with 101 against Hampshire in June.

He has looked in complete control here and while these are benign batting conditions that is a good knock from the youngster.

The last steps were a little stuttery moving from 91 to three figures in singles but it showed patience to wait for the right ball.

He brings up his hundred with a flick off his legs for four to move to 103.

  5. 'Notts have taken the day so far'published at 14:23 British Summer Time 30 July

    Notts v Somerset 438

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

The last wicket partnership was worth 41 valuable runs but Notts have taken the day so far.

Just the 100 runs for the loss of the last six wickets.

The Notts fielders will be pleased to get off now.

  6. wicket

WICKET & ALL OUTpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 30 July

    Notts v Somerset 438

Another caught and bowled to wrap up the Somerset innings.

Jake Ball drops his head back in anguish.

41 valuable runs put on there though, 24 from the number 11 and 31* from Craig Overton at nine are the third and fourth highest scores in this innings still.

55 overs still remaining today after this 10 minute interval.

  7. Division Two latestpublished at 14:22 British Summer Time 30 July

Kane Williamson continues to pile on the runs for Middlesex against Gloucestershire at Cheltenham College.

The New Zealander has 140 in his side's 307-4.

Kent have made a solid start in reply to Leicestershire's 471 all out - they're 46-0.

Both of Lancashire's openers - Luke Wells and Keaton Jennings - are back in the hutch at Old Trafford. The hosts are 62-2, replying to Glamorgan's first-innings 261.

It's a game of fine margins between Northants and Derbyshire. Northants are 92-2 after Derbyshire made 377.

  8. wicket

    Organ b Waite 3 (Worcs v Hants 228-7)

Felix Organ tries to nudge Matthew Waite into the off side but manages to get an inside edge and plays on to his own stumps.

  9. 500 up for Essexpublished at 14:03 British Summer Time 30 July

    Essex 500-5 v Warwickshire

Michael Pepper steers Ethan Bamber for two towards third man and Essex bring up 500.

  10. 'An innings defeat is still on the cards'published at 14:03 British Summer Time 30 July

    Durham 153 & 24-1 v Surrey 322

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Lees playing across the line far too many times.

They haven't got off to the opening start they wanted.

An innings defeat is still on the cards here unfortunately.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:02 British Summer Time 30 July

    Lees lbw Clark 20 (Durham 153 & 23-1 v Surrey 322)

Alex Lees has not looked himself the last couple of weeks since his dual tons in that draw at the Oval and that T20 Blast hundred.

He was not at all happy down at Taunton last week and again looks rather skittish, trying to score more quickly than he needs to and than you would expect from a proper top drawer first-class red ball opener.

He got to 20 off 24 balls but Durham would rather their skipper got 30 off 50 balls in this situation.

He takes a while to walk and gives a bit of chat back to the Surrey fielders as he stomps off.

His mood will only worsen if Durham again lose inside two days, they trail by 146 still.

  12. 50 runs

50 for Pepperpublished at 14:01 British Summer Time 30 July

    Essex 498-5 v Warwickshire

Michael Pepper nudges Rob Yates for a single into the covers and moves to a brisk half century in 71 deliveries, his seventh first class half.

  13. Back on at New Roadpublished at 13:57 British Summer Time 30 July

    Worcs v Hants 217-6

Matthew Waite has Tom Prest in his sights as Worcs look to back up a decent morning session against Hampshire and concedes a four in his first over.

Prest is moving forward in big steps and now has five boundaries in his 30 run effort.

It contrasts with partner Felix Organ who has his legs tied together with a solitary run from 24 deliveries.

  14. Back under way at Chelmsfordpublished at 13:51 British Summer Time 30 July

    Essex 482-5 v Warwickshire

Essex resume their accumulation of runs with Rob Yates and Ethan Bamber rejoining the fray with the ball.

You would think 600 will be the target for Essex in a one-bat push for the win.

  15. 'They've lost five wickets today, all batting errors'published at 13:49 British Summer Time 30 July

    Notts v Somerset 397-9

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

It was just misjudgement and they've lost five wickets today, all batting errors.

    A complete nothing shot.

  16. Wood warming uppublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 30 July

    Durham 153 & 19-0 v Surrey 322

    Adam Lanigan
    BBC Sport reporter at Chester-le-Street

The morning was dominated by news of England's four changes ahead of the decisive fifth Test with India at The Oval, beginning tomorrow.

The revamped pace attack sees Josh Tongue, Gus Atkinson and Jamie Overton come in with Jofra Archer, captain Ben Stokes and Brydon Carse missing out.

It means eight different bowlers will have comprised the seam attack during this summer's Tests.

One man not on that list however, is Mark Wood.

The Durham quick has not played all summer as he recovers from a knne ligament injury.

But he was here in Chester-le-Street during the lunch break going through some running drills on the outfield.

He did not do any bowling, but what a weapon he could be for England during the Ashes if he can get fully fit.

The 35-year-old does not have a team for The Hundred, so it remains to be seen when and where he could make a return to action to prove his fitness with the first Test Down Under starting in Perth on 21 November.

  17. Back under way at Scarboroughpublished at 13:48 British Summer Time 30 July

    Yorks 84-2 v Sussex 222

James Wharton has joined Adam Lyth at the crease for Yorks as the second session gets going. Fynn Hudson-Prentice and Jack Carson resume with the ball.

  18. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:48 British Summer Time 30 July

    Pretorius c & b Harrison 8 (Notts v Somerset 397-9)

A surprisingly tame innings from Miggy Pretorius, eight off 25 balls is one of his slowest scoring innings in a Somerset shirt.

Somerset unsure whether to stick or twist here now the 110 overs are up.

Calvin Harrison has him leading edging gently back to him.

Former Notts man Jake Ball has had a rare consecutive couple of appearances for Somerset in the Championship, being picked ahead of Kasey Aldridge and Alfie Ogborne, he is cheered to the wicket by many of the home supporters.

  19. Second session starts at Trent Bridgepublished at 13:41 British Summer Time 30 July

    Notts v Somerset 396-8

17 runs were put on before lunch by Somerset's big fast-bowling all-rounders.

Liam Patterson-White will take the first over to Miggy Pretorius (7*) with Craig Overton backing up on 18*.

  20. Resumption at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 13:40 British Summer Time 30 July

    Durham 153 & 4-0 v Surrey 322

Surrey lead by 169 as Durham skipper Alex Lees and Ben McKinney come out to bat for the second time in the opening two days here.

Could Durham lose inside two days two weeks running?

Surrey have Dan Worrall with the new ball shouting vigorously for lbw first ball, it looked a good shout but the umpire decides there's a bit of bat, so a four to third first ball.
