    How was that for you?

A busy, busy day two in the County Championship draws to a close, with five of our nine games already into a third innings and the rest nicely poised.

We may have only had a taster of James Anderson, but we still had two wickets from the great man from his five-over burst.

More to come tomorrow morning, I'm sure, so join us for the 11am start of play tomorrow. We'll be live from 10:30 BST.

    See you then.

  3. Close of play at Edgbastonpublished at 18:48 British Summer Time 17 May

    Warwicks 194 v Hants 300 & 159-6

Tazeem Ali with the final over of an absorbing day in Birmingham.

Brad Wheal has two slips, a short leg and leg slip for company. Hope he's not claustrophobic.

Wheal refuses a single from the first ball and then clips the final ball away for a single. Stumps.

Hampshire end the day 265 runs ahead and will resume with Toby Albert on 29 and Brad Wheal on five.

Kyle Abbott's five-for helped the visitors to a 106-run first innings lead and Fletcha Middleton's 76 has kept their noses in front despite a brave Bears fightback.

The hosts are likely to need the biggest total of the match to win this, but there are signs the pitch is getting easier.

  4. Close of play at The Ovalpublished at 18:44 British Summer Time 17 May

    Surrey 384-7 v Yorkshire 255

Yorkshire have toiled all day long but Surrey are well on top. The hosts take a 129-run lead into day three with them.

Big runs from Australian batter Kurtis Patterson with 85 on his County Championship debut and the ever-reliable Ben Foakes added a fine 86.

Every batter has contributed for Surrey and it's proving to be the big difference at the end of day two as Jordan Clark remains unbeaten on 41.

George Hill with an impressive 4-58 off 22 overs for Yorkshire but they're in a tough spot in this match. Big effort required again tomorrow.

  5. 'It's Surrey's day'published at 18:44 British Summer Time 17 May

    Surrey 384-7 v Yorkshire 255

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

I thought Surrey would be about 110 ahead.

I think the way Clarke has played aggressively has meant it's a bit more than that.

You have to say it's Surrey's day.

  6. Postpublished at 18:41 British Summer Time 17 May

    Warwicks 194 v Hants 300 & 158-6

Che Simmons runs in for his second over and for the final time today.

Brad Wheal drives into the legside for two and then guides the final ball past short leg for a single. Another good over from the quick.

He keeps the strike and protects Toby Albert for the final over.

  7. Close of play at New Roadpublished at 18:40 British Summer Time 17 May

    Worcs 358 & 58-5 v Essex 157 - Worcs lead by 259

An eventful day is brought to a close - a total of 16 wickets have fallen.

It started and ended with Ben Allison losing his wicket!

He was last man out for Worcs this morning and then the Pears tore through the Essex batting line-up, bowling them out for 157 in 60 overs.

But there was still time for Essex to hit back and take five wickets in the evening as Worcestershire take a lead of 259 into day three.

  8. Postpublished at 18:40 British Summer Time 17 May

    Surrey 383-7 v Yorkshire 255

Jordan Clark pulls one away nicely off Matthew Revis and it runs away for four behind square.

Clark moves onto 40 and Surrey's lead stretches to 128.

  9. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:39 British Summer Time 17 May

    Allison lbw Harmer 0 (Worcs 358 & 58-5 v Essex 157)

    Simon Harmer strikes again!

Two late wickets for Essex and it's the nightwatchman Ben Allison who only lasts five balls.

  10. Postpublished at 18:37 British Summer Time 17 May

    Warwicks 194 v Hants 300 & 155-6

Tazeem Ali is handed the ball for the first time in the Hampshire second knock.

He's down on his knee and appealing as he turns one onto Brad Wheal's pad.

But it hits outside the line and was missing. So not much going for it!

The six balls costs four runs and we have two overs left today.

  11. 100 for Cameron Greenpublished at 18:37 British Summer Time 17 May

    Glos 306-4 v Kent 424

Well batted Cameron Green - he hits a boundary to reach his century in style and also earn his side a second batting point.

    Last over now at Bristol.

  12. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:34 British Summer Time 17 May

    Middleton b Simmons 76 (Warwicks 194 v Hants 300 & 151-6)

    Che Simmons strikes!

The ball keeps a little low and under the defences of Fletcha Middleton to clatter into middle and off stump.

    A super innings, potentially a match-winning one.

    Brad Wheal joins Toby Albert.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:33 British Summer Time 17 May

    Kashif lbw Harmer 31 (Worcs 358 & 58-4 v Essex 157)

Kashif Ali steps onto his back foot to try to play Simon Harmer away but misses and when it hits his pads he's right in front of the stumps - gone in the penultimate over of the day.

Ben Allison is sent in as nightwatchman for the final few balls.

  14. Close of play at Tauntonpublished at 18:33 British Summer Time 17 May

    Somerset 338 v Sussex 152 & 127-4 f/o

This day has belonged entirely to Somerset.

After a mini-collapse this morning to fall from 317-6 to 338 all out, the hosts have dominated ever since.

They skittled Sussex for a lowly 152 and enforced the follow-on. Things looked to be going smoothly in response for Sussex as openers Tom Haines and Daniel Hughes put on 100.

But they were both removed in quick succession and Sussex have put on just 27 runs for four wickets and trail by 59 runs at the end of day two.

A huge mountain to climb on day three to keep this alive for Sussex.

  15. 'He's almost playing a shot a ball'published at 18:32 British Summer Time 17 May

    Surrey 375-7 v Yorkshire 255

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

I think the thinking from Jordan Clarke will be to get as close as possible to that 400 mark - He's almost playing a shot a ball at the moment.

They'll want to come out tomorrow and be very close with the lead they've got.

Yorkshire have done a pretty good job this session, though.

  16. 150 runs

150 up for Hampshirepublished at 18:31 British Summer Time 17 May

    Warwicks 194 v Hants 300 & 150-5

Che Simmons returns to the attack and Toby Albert turns his first ball down to third man for two.

It brings up the 150 in the 43rd over as well as an important 50 partnership with Fletcha Middleton. Off 88 balls.

  17. Close of play at Lord'spublished at 18:30 British Summer Time 17 May

    Middlesex 232 & 10-0 v Leics 274

That's that for today at Lord's and this one is still hanging firmly in the balance at the close of play on day two.

Middlesex took nine more wickets to bowl out Leicestershire for 274 and end the day 32 runs behind the Division Two leaders with all 10 wickets still in hand in their second innings.

It could still go either way and day three promises to be a decisive one.

  18. Postpublished at 18:29 British Summer Time 17 May

    Surrey 372-7 v Yorkshire 255

Jordan Clark smashes one away through the covers from Matthew Revis and then picks up a single after hooking one towards deep square leg.

Jonny Tattersall isn't able to get to the next delivery which is a fair way down the leg side and they're able to pick up a single.

Revis then bangs in one that's so short it's given as a wide.

  19. Postpublished at 18:26 British Summer Time 17 May

    Warwicks 194 v Hants 300 & 148-5

Toby Albert came in with Hampshire in a little jeopardy at 99-5 after two quick wickets and has played a nice hand to settle the visitors.

He goes to 23 with a couple of singles off Oliver Hannon-Dalby, while opener Fletcha Middleton picks up one more to move to 76.

Four overs to go at Edgbaston.

  20. Postpublished at 18:22 British Summer Time 17 May

    Warwicks 194 v Hants 300 & 145-5

A little scare as Fletcha Middleton dabs down to gully and sets off.

He has to turn back and looks back in relief as Tom Latham's throw misses the timbers.

Five overs to go. The lead is 251.
