    Middlesex 232 & 9-0 v Leics 274

Middlesex are back out to bat again for four overs.

    They're 9-0 after the first one-and-a-half.

The job for openers Sam Robson and Max Holden will be very much just to stay in so they can come back tomorrow morning.

  2. Close of play at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 18:19 British Summer Time 17 May

    Durham 320-4 v Notts 407

Brett Hutton to complete day two at the Riverside.

Ollie Robinson safely sees it out the first five balls and then pushes the final delivery out towards the cover boundary for three. And that's stumps.

It's been a tough day for the Nottinghamshire bowers who have been given little assistance from the pitch. But they haven't let Durham get away.

Durham trail by just 87 runs with six wickets still in hand. The hosts will be more than pleased with that.

  3. 'These seven overs are crucial'published at 18:18 British Summer Time 17 May

    Warwicks 194 v Hants 143-5 & 300

    Richard Wilford
    BBC Radio WM commentator

These seven overs are crucial, Warwickshire will want a few more wickets, Hampshire are quite happy to see these last overs drift away.

The ball isn't doing an awful lot at this stage.

  4. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:17 British Summer Time 17 May

    Foakes c Tattersall b Hill 86 (Surrey 351-7 v Yorkshire 255)

Ben Foakes is gone for 86!

It's George Hill again with his fourth wicket of the game as he finds the outside edge and stand-in keeper Jonny Tattersall for the injured Jonny Bairstow takes the catch.

Can Yorkshire push through these final three wickets without too much further damage on the scoreboard? Probably not tonight with just under six overs remaining but it's a good start.

  5. Postpublished at 18:15 British Summer Time 17 May

    Worcs 358 & 53-3 v Essex 157

    Lovely shot Kashif Ali!

Swept away off the pads with impeccable timing to push Worcs past 50.

Six overs left in the day with the lead at 254.

  6. Postpublished at 18:14 British Summer Time 17 May

    Durham 317-4 v Notts 407

Liam Patterson-White slides a lovely delivery past Ollie Robinson's outside edge.

He goes a little straight, allowing Robinson to pick up a single.

Emilio Gay then cuts past sole Notts slip Joe Clarke for four - not the most convincing stroke.

But that is! He drives Patterson-White's final ball of the day down the ground for four more to go to 74.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:14 British Summer Time 17 May

    Clark c Rew b Leach 6 (Somerset 338 v Sussex 152 & 121-4 f/o)

Big celebrations from Jack Leach as Tom Clark goes for a big sweep and nicks it behind, straight into the gloves of James Rew.

From getting to 100 without loss, Sussex are falling apart again.

Just 21 runs for four wickets since then and they're still 65 runs behind.

In comes the second nightwatchman of the innings... this time it's James Hayes.

  8. Postpublished at 18:11 British Summer Time 17 May

    Durham 308-4 v Notts 407

Brett Hutton runs in for his 16th over.

Ollie Robinson shows some nice soft hands to guide the fourth ball down towards the third man boundary. It's hauled in but brings two.

The Durham wicketkeeper then picks up a single to take the deficit down below 100 and keep the strike for the penultimate over.

    Scriven b Sharma 16 (Middlesex 232 v Leics 274)

Tom Scriven's resistance is broken and Leicestershire are all out for 274.

Young Naavya Sharma gets a wicket on his senior debut, bowling Scriven for 16.

  11. 'No let-off from Somerset'published at 18:05 British Summer Time 17 May

    Somerset 338 v Sussex 152 & 111-3 f/o

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

There's no let-off from Somerset here.

Sussex are losing wickets in clusters, they have lost 3-11 now.

Somerset will be thinking they can take this opportunity now, it's a slow wicket.

  12. Close of play at Old Traffordpublished at 18:05 British Summer Time 17 May

    Lancs 458 v Derbys 112-4

Tom Bailey takes the penultimate over of the day and Brooke Guest comfortably plays out a maiden.

Tom Hartley returns for the final over and Jack Morley is facing.

The nightwatchman is caught in two minds whether to go back or play forwards to the fifth ball, but just about keeps it out. He gets well forward to smother the last ball of the day. Stumps.

A super day for Lancashire who made hay with the bat and then took four Derbyshire scalps in the evening session to lead by 346.

The visitors need 197 to avoid the follow-on.

Could the Red Rose be heading for a first win of the season?

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 18:02 British Summer Time 17 May

    Carson c Rew b Henry 6 (Somerset 338 v Sussex 152 & 111-3 f/o)

    Not what Sussex wanted...

Jack Carson might have come in to play the role of nightwatchman but he's more than capable with the bat and he'll be disappointed with this.

He dangles his bat outside off from Matt Henry and it takes a thin nick off the inside edge on the way through to James Rew behind the stumps who takes a simple catch.

Somerset are hammering home their advantage now. Three wickets for just 11 runs.

Tom Alsop is in so no more nightwatchman at the crease as he joins Tom Clark.

  14. Postpublished at 18:01 British Summer Time 17 May

Simon Harmer is on for a bit of spin as the shadows start to lengthen in sunny Worcester.

Just two coming from his first over.

Kashif Ali and Rob Jones are at the crease for the Pears and the lead is now 237.

We have 10 overs left at New Road.

Notts lead is down to 107.

  16. Postpublished at 17:57 British Summer Time 17 May

    Lancs 458 v Derbys 112-4

Luke Wells in for his second over after his wicket-maiden.

It looks like Lancashire are wrapping James Anderson in cotton wool before unleashing the 42-year-old in the morning.

Brooke Guest rocks back and plays Wells to point for a single to bring the deficit down to 350.

Nightwatchman Jack Morley is all defence until the last ball as he cuts through point to get off the mark with four.

  17. 'It's not a forgone conclusion'published at 17:55 British Summer Time 17 May

    Somerset 338 v Sussex 152 & 108-2 f/o

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Somerset will be desperate for another wicket tonight.

Sussex could bat the rest of tomorrow quite easily - It's not a forgone conclusion.

Sussex will certainly not want to lose anymore tonight.

  18. Postpublished at 17:54 British Summer Time 17 May

    Middlesex 232 v Leics 270-9

Leicestershire are keen not to give up this final wicket without a fight.

Tom Scriven and Josh Hull have already added 11 runs to the score in this final partnership. How many more can they tack on to the lead of 38?

  19. Postpublished at 17:53 British Summer Time 17 May

    Surrey 332-6 v Yorkshire 255

Every Surrey batter has managed to get themselves in throughout their innings and it's been a bit of a recurring issue for Yorkshire.

They haven't been able to get anyone out early.

Jordan Clark flicks a lovely shot off his pads through mid-wicket from Jack White to move onto 16.

Surrey's lead is up to 77 now.

  20. Postpublished at 17:49 British Summer Time 17 May

    Somerset 338 v Sussex 152 & 104-2 f/o

Sussex trail Somerset by 82 runs with at least 12 overs of the day remaining.

The response to following on was going swimmingly for the visitors until Daniel Hughes and Tom Haines both fell in quick succession.

They'll just want to get through to the close of play without any further damage.

It's been a pretty good day for Somerset so far.
