  1. Originals 34-5published at 50 balls left

    78 runs needed

    Seren Smale almost departs!

She fires Baker into the covers and Ellyse Perry almost snatches the ball out of the air on the leap, but can't hold on.

Smale takes a single to move to four from 12 balls, while new batter Fi Morris takes a couple of singles around that chance to get off the mark.

Deandra Dottin was looking to go big but she didn't find her timing. She didn't get under it enough and it was a great catch taken at the rope.

Dottin is a huge wicket and Phoenix will be favourites by far now.

Finds the fielder on the ropes this time.

The West Indies all-rounder smashes Hannah Baker out to long-off, where Ailsa Lister takes the catch.

Originals desperately needed a partnership - they won't have one with Dottin in it.

  4. 46-0published at Fire v Rockets

    Target 151

In Cardiff, Trent Rockets are making easy work of their chase of 151, scoring 46-0 in the powerplay.

Joe Root was caught at point off the bowling of David Payne but the Welsh Fire bowler overstepped and a no-ball was given.

Root has taken full advantage of that reprieve and hit 23 (14) and his opening partner Tom Banton has helped himself to 20 (13) with three fours.

Payne's 10-ball spell to open the innings was particularly expensive as he gifted the Rockets 24 runs.

This is a good time for the Originals to speak to the coaches. Phoenix would have been happy to carry on however.

We have seen these time-outs completely change the game before.

  6. Originals 31-4published at 55 balls left

    82 runs needed

But will Deandra Dottin now go playing the same shot?

    ...no!

Em Arlott tries to hold on right against the ropes, hands right above her head, but she knows she's staggering back and has to tap the ball onto the outfield.

Deandra Dottin knew what was coming and cleared her front leg. She got her arms through the ball with some good bat speed.

Originals will need more of those.

  8. 6 runs

Originals 27-4published at 57 balls left

Wake up - things are happening!

Deandra Dottin takes on Georgia Voll's third delivery, smashing it over the long-on ropes for six.

Something has to give here. Manchester Originals need to get some more singles just to get themselves into the game and used to the wicket.

There have been too many dot balls which Phoenix are building pressure through.

  10. Originals 20-4published at 60 balls left

More spin as Hannah Baker comes into the Phoenix attack.

She concedes just one single, from Deandra Dottin in the covers, from her first five deliveries.

Just six runs off 19 balls since Melie Kerr was dismissed.

That is one of the first aggressive shots we have seen be played in this innings. Deandra Dottin did not get hold of it which suggests the pitch is slightly two-paced.

She is a wonderful timer of the ball.

  12. Originals 19-4published at 65 balls left

Originals continue to struggle to pick up the runs - Deandra Dottin takes two into the covers off Phoebe Brett's first ball then can score off the remaining four.

Mind you - Phoenix were 20-3 at this stage, but they wouldn't lose another wicket.

Manchester Originals have lost four wickets in the powerplay for just 15 runs - the most wickets lost in the powerplay in an innings this season.

Overall, they’ve now lost 14 wickets in the powerplay this season, overtaking Birmingham Phoenix, who had lost 12.

  14. Originals 17-4published at 70 balls left

Seren Smale hurries through a single into the covers, before Deandra Dottin adds a further run off Em Arlott's last ball, sending it square.

  15. Originals 15-4published at 75 balls left

    97 runs needed

Deandra Dottin out to try and salvage the Originals innings.

She takes a single off her second ball.

I gave Manchester Originals every opportunity and had Beth Mooney down to knock this total off single-handedly.

They are making an absolute meal of it.

    WICKETpublished at 79 balls left

    Kerr c Arlott b Brett 10 (Originals 14-4)

    My word.

Phoebe Brett has her first wicket in The Hundred as she does for New Zealand superstar Melie Kerr.

She goes to smack over mid-on but top edges and finds Em Arlott in that position.

    Originals all over the place.

  18. Originals 14-3published at 80 balls left

    98 runs needed

New batter Seren Smale fails to score off her first delivery.

That's the second scoreless set inside the powerplay.

Alice Monaghan needed to take a few sets and get some singles but the pressure got to her which is why the bat flew.

I don't understand Alice Monaghan coming up the order at all. She swung herself so hard and the ball went precisely to Ellyse Perry.

She played that out of frustration I reckon.
