  1. Phoenix 11-1published at 20 balls

A first four of the innings, from its 17th delivery.

It's Ellyse Perry's, late cutting Mahika Gaur through third.

Gaur has figures of 1-5 from her first 15 balls - all inside the powerplay, of course.

It is hard to believe that the ball is worn after so few balls. The Originals will certainly be happy to take a new one.

If the ball is softer, Sophie Ecclestone will be happy as a spinner.

It is interesting to see Kathryn Bryce coming round the wicket to the two right-handers. She looks to shape everything back into them which allows her line to be more attacking and cramps the batters.

  3. Phoenix 7-1published at 15 balls

Kathryn Bryce into the attack - she concedes a couple of singles from her first four deliveries, but then we get a pause - they're going to change the ball.

And hold on - now Sophie Ecclestone is unhappy with the replacement, but the umpires aren't going to allow another change.

Emma Lamb works the new ball to square for a single, and that, finally, is the end of the set.

You can see by how much the ball ballooned up that Ellyse Perry must have gotten some glove on it. That would have been a massive wicket if Beth Mooney had taken it.

Mahika Gaur is getting some little late shape here. She has such a nice rhythm to her action.

    A good start so far.

  5. Phoenix 3-1published at 10 balls

Oooh, Ellyse Perry offers another chance at a wicket.

She turns Mahika Gaur's last delivery down the leg side and Beth Mooney isn't far from taking the catch as the Phoenix batters run a single.

That looked to be sliding down the leg-side to me. The fact that it is Ellyse Perry will have played a role into taking the review.

  7. Originals reviewpublished at 6 balls

    Phoenix 2-1

    Another wicket?

Mahika Gaur strikes Ellyse Perry and again makes a big appeal to the umpire.

Nothing given, but Originals know a risky review would be a hammer blow to Phoenix and they go for it.

It's not a great shout though - pitching outside leg and probably heading down as well.

Perry runs two leg byes to get Phoenix off the mark.

Poor cricket from Georgia Voll. The deep-square fielder only needed to come in four or five yards.

A great start for the Originals.

  9. Phoenix 0-1published at 5 balls

Ellyse Perry out of the dug-out early doors.

She doesn't score off her first ball - a scoreless first set for Mahika Gaur, and she's going to take another one.

Picks out the square leg fielder!

Georgia Voll goes for a duck, slapping Mahika Gair's delivery straight to Alice Monaghan, who takes the catch having stepped in from the rope.

Voll, who was batting a fair way out of her crease, had already survived a big lbw appeal from Gaur that was ignored by the umpire.

At Old Trafford in the Women’s Hundred, teams batting first have won 7 out of 16 games, while chasing teams have won 9. This year, it’s 2-1 in favor of the chasing sides.

Birmingham Phoenix’s only win this season came while batting first, despite that, it’s still a surprising call for them to bat first here.

Most people will be backing the Manchester Originals but when you are down and out you can come out and play with freedom. Sometimes that takes the pressure off and puts it on the other team which will be the case for the Phoenix.

    Time to get going.

Originals' left-arm seamer Mahika Gaur is going to take the new ball - she's bowling to Australian Georgia Voll, with Emma Lamb at the other end.

Here's a little more on that Fire v Rockets women's match...

Trent Rockets comfortably beat Welsh Fire by 23 runs to keep their faint qualification hopes alive in The Hundred women's competition at Sophia Gardens.

Rockets successfully defended a competitive 145-6, but they will be eliminated if Manchester Originals beat Birmingham Phoenix in the later game at 14:30 BST.

Fire, who were already knocked out, fell short on 122-9 as they struggled for partnerships throughout the innings.
