There's a spring in the step of those Nottinghamshire boots as Olly Stone takes a wicket with the third ball of Hampshire's reply!

Ali Orr nibbles at a ball that leaves him slightly and Joe Clarke does the rest behind the stumps.

That brings Felix Organ to the crease to join Fletcha Middleton.

  2. Surrey begin their second inningspublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 18 May

    Surrey 213 & 3-0 v Worcs 128

Rory Burns and Dom Sibley are in the middle with a more than useful first innings lead.

The Pears lost their last three wickets for 16 runs this morning.

Burns will take strike first, facing Joe Leach and gets a couple of runs third ball, running it safely to third man.

He gets one more off the fifth ball, clipped away to long leg.

Dom Sibley blocks the last ball.

  3. Remarkable Worrallpublished at 11:42 British Summer Time 18 May

    Surrey 213 v Worcs 128

    Guy Swindells
    BBC Radio London

Yadvinder Singh starts his first-class career with a duck but he won't be the only one who will be getting a duck when he faces the remarkable Dan Worrall when he's in this kind of form.

He has taken 6-22, three in five balls and has wrapped up what was looking like a half decent fightback this morning by Worcestershire.

Surrey are in the ascendency, Worcestershire will have to start again.

  4. Postpublished at 11:39 British Summer Time 18 May

    Essex v Warwickshire 332-7

Six overs remaining until the cut-off for bonus points and Warwickshire are creeping towards a third, with 18 more needed.

Ed Barnard has progressed to 130, with Che Simmons alongside him on five.

Meanwhile, Essex have brought Simon Harmer on for a bowl - bearing in mind that they need two quick wickets if they're to secure a third bonus point themselves.

  5. wicket

NOTTINGHAMSHIRE ALL OUTpublished at 11:35 British Summer Time 18 May

    Notts 235 v Hants

Faint hopes of a batting bonus point are extinguished as Kyle Abbott wraps up the Nottinghamshire innings, with Dane Paterson making room to have a big swing and edging through to wicketkeeper Ben Brown.

That leaves Lyndon James undefeated for a superb 106 - and his efforts have given Notts something to bowl at when Hampshire begin their reply.

  6. Interesting to see if Harmer can get turnpublished at 11:35 British Summer Time 18 May

    Essex v Warwickshire 329-7

    Clive Eakin
    BBC CWR Sport

Spectators and the media were equally in the dark until the end of the first day when post play interviews revealed a hybrid pitch is being used at Chelmsford.

This summer is the first in which the surfaces which include plastic fibre stitching have been allowed in red ball county cricket.

As Warwickshire's innings has gone on Essex bowlers have found the pitch decreasingly responsive.

It'll be interesting to see if Simon Harmer can get much turn out of it later in the game.

  7. wicket

WORCESTERSHIRE ALL OUTpublished at 11:34 British Summer Time 18 May

    Surrey 213 v Worcs 128

Yadvinder Singh plays and misses outside off stump to survive the hat trick ball but he's gone two balls later.

Another catch for keeper Ben Foakes as the number 11 drives and edges behind.

Pears captain Brett D'Oliveira is left high and dry on a patient 30 not out off 79 balls.

Dan Worrall has 6-22 off 12 overs.

Surrey have a healthy lead of 85 runs.

  8. 'A terrific knock from Lyndon James'published at 11:32 British Summer Time 18 May

    Notts 235-9 v Hants

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

Absolutely pleased for Lyndon James, he gets a standing ovation at Trent Bridge.

I think it means more to get a hundred in Division One, his three previous centuries for Notts in first-class cricket all came in 2022 in Division Two, with a best of 164 not out so he's got some way to go to top that.

He's coming in at seven as well, he's got the extra responsibility of a frontline bowling role.

What a terrific knock, because he's come in literally staring a really embarrassing first-innings score in the face and he's steered them to more than 200.

  9. wicket

WICKET Gibbon b Worrall 0published at 11:31 British Summer Time 18 May

    Surrey 213 v Worcs 128-9

First ball! Dan Worrall has five and is on a hat-trick!

Ben Gibbon has gone. The ball hits the top of off stump and Ben Foakes catches the ball one-handed as it deflects off the timbers.

  10. Division Two latestpublished at 11:31 British Summer Time 18 May

Glamorgan have just made a breakthrough against Middlesex - James Harris got Sam Robson for 28 to leave them 97-1.

But the visitors are still well on top in Cardiff, trailing by just 86 with nine wickets in hand.

Northants continue to build a big first-innings score at Derbyshire. They're 330-5 with Rob Keogh 85 not out.

Gloucestershire have lost Miles Hammond this morning but remain in the driving seat at Leicestershire on 399-3. Ollie Price has 42.

At Hove, they're looking to get under way at 11:45 BST in the game between Sussex and Yorkshire after a bit of morning rain.

  11. Postpublished at 11:29 British Summer Time 18 May

    Lancashire 357 v Durham 13-0

You might have assumed Ben Stokes was opening the batting when you learn that Durham have taken 13 from their first two overs.

However, it's his team-mate Alex Lees - having reinvented himself last year after being dropped by England - who's responsible for this explosive start, blazing Will Williams for three boundaries in four balls.

Lees has all 13 of those Durham runs to his name, with Scott Borthwick yet to get off the mark.

  12. wicket

WICKET Leach c Foakes b Worrall 5published at 11:28 British Summer Time 18 May

    Surrey 213 v Worcs 128-8

What a catch! Dan Worrall has four!

Joe Leach has tried to hang in there but he's gone this time as he's squared up on the crease, edging to keeper Ben Foakes, who takes it one-handed diving in front of first slip.

    Ben Gibbon is in next.

  13. dropped catch

Joe Leach reprievedpublished at 11:27 British Summer Time 18 May

    Surrey 213 v Worcs 127-7

Just the once chance for Surrey this morning as Joe Leach pushes a ball back to Jordan Clark but the bowler can't hold on.

Tough chance. Quick and ankle height.

  14. Postpublished at 11:23 British Summer Time 18 May

    Surrey 213 v Worcs 122-7

Brett D'Oliveira drives a ball from Jordan Clark safely past Dan Lawrence on the off side for two as the Pears continue to eat into this Surrey lead.

At the other end Joe Leach ducks under a bouncer and then misses out on a leg side ball from Dan Worrall.

Worrall adjusts his line back to off stump and Leach defends.

    Maiden over.

  15. 100 for Lyndon Jamespublished at 11:21 British Summer Time 18 May

    Notts 222-9 v Hants

Lyndon James (Notts)Image source, Rex Features

Applause from the Trent Bridge crowd as Lyndon James seizes on an overpitched delivery from Kyle Abbott and cracks it to the cover fence to bring up his century from 229 balls.

It's the Notts all-rounder's fourth first-class hundred and he's played a superb hand here to bring his side back into the game.

  16. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Tauntonpublished at 11:18 British Summer Time 18 May

    Somerset 466-8 v Kent

Four runs to Josh Davey, nicely forward to Grant Stewart and driving through cover for four.

But sadly the rain has arrived five balls into the over and the players are leaving the field.

The forecast is patchy rather than terminal so hopefully we'll be back on after a short delay.

26 runs and one wicket in that mini session of play and Somerset have all five batting points.

  17. Will Chelmsford pitch hold up better?published at 11:16 British Summer Time 18 May

    Essex v Warwickshire 313-6

    Sonia Twigg
    BBC Essex

What we were told after play yesterday was that this is believed to be a hybrid pitch which means that the artificial grass is sewn in with the real one and it's designed to hold up better.

It's more often used in white ball cricket where they like to reuse the same pitches for multiple matches.

It's not often used in the County Championship so I wonder if that will affect how much it degrades over the next couple of days.

Shane Snater bowling for EssexImage source, Rex Features
  18. Play to start at 11:45 BST at Hovepublished at 11:15 British Summer Time 18 May

    Sussex 150 v Yorkshire 176-7

The umpires have taken a look and they're happy for things to get under way in 30 minutes on the south coast.

Providing there is no more rain...

  19. Postpublished at 11:15 British Summer Time 18 May

    Surrey 213 v Worcs 118-7

Another jaffa from Dan Worrall, who has Joe Leach playing and missing outside off.

Leach digs out a yorker next and he's squared up playing one delivery safely back to the bowler.

The last ball strays on to leg stump and Joe Leach finds a gap on the on side for two.

  20. wicket

WICKET: Burgess c Pepper b Snater 108published at 11:12 British Summer Time 18 May

    Essex v Warwickshire 313-7

Early breakthrough for Essex as Shane Snater breaks this marathon partnership!

Michael Burgess is caught behind in the third over of the day and that brings Bears debutant Che Simmons to the middle to join Ed Barnard.
