  1. wicket

WICKET: Ackermann c Jennings b Aspinwall 44published at 14:23 British Summer Time 18 May

    Lancashire 357 v Durham 128-3

    Great catch Keaton Jennings!

Colin Ackermann slashes at Tom Aspinwall and Jennings stretches high at first slip to clasp the catch, one-handed.

It's a maiden first-class wicket for the 20-year-old Lancashire bowler and ends Ackermann's partnership of 94 with David Bedingham.

Ollie Robinson is the new man in for Durham, still no Ben Stokes.

  2. wicket

    WICKET: Elgar c Hain b Hannon-Dalby 15published at 14:19 British Summer Time 18 May

    Essex 34-2 v Warwickshire 397

Big wicket for Warwickshire as Dean Elgar is caught at second slip!

Olly Hannon-Dalby tempts the opener to drive and the ball flies into the reliable hands of Sam Hain.

This is going well for the Bears.

  3. Crawley out of formpublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 18 May

    Somerset 554 v Kent 8-1 - rain stopped play

That's scores of 5, 4, 41, 1, 6, 10 and 0 for England and Kent opener Zak Crawley this season.

67 runs in seven County Championship innings at an average of 9.57.

Should Crawley be England's opener in their first Test of the summer against West Indies in July?

Thumbs up for yes, thumbs down for no.

  4. Postpublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 18 May

    Surrey 213 & 77-0 v Worcs 128 - lead by 162

Yadvinder Singh is in the attack from the Vauxhall End and gets good carry outside off, through to the keeper.

Sibley drives a slightly over pitched ball to extra cover for two.

Ben Gibbon will bowl to Rory Burns, who is on 48.

  5. rain stops play

Raining again at Tauntonpublished at 14:17 British Summer Time 18 May

    Somerset 554 v Kent 8-1

The Daniel Bell-Drummond rear guard is restricted to four balls before the heavens open again.

Sigh. It's just not cricket weather.

  6. Postpublished at 14:13 British Summer Time 18 May

    Lancashire 357 v Durham 116-2

Durham have made swift progress since lunch, with 38 added to their total in half an hour.

Colin Ackermann has overtaken David Bedingham now - the former Leicestershire man has 40 to his partner's 38.

Lancashire have just brought on Tom Aspinwall for his first bowl of the season and the young medium-pacer was immediately pulled to the midwicket boundary by Ackermann, while Nathan Lyon is still wheeling away at the other end, trying to keep the run-rate down.

  7. wicket

WICKET Crawley lbw b Overton 0published at 14:12 British Summer Time 18 May

    Somerset 554 v Kent 8-1

Zak Crawley has gone first ball!

Craig Overton beats the opener on the drive, striking the pad below the knee in front of off stump. Plumb.

Kent captain Daniel Bell-Drummond is in at three.

  8. Postpublished at 14:09 British Summer Time 18 May

    Somerset 554 v Kent 8-0

Ben Compton is off the mark second ball with an edge just wide of third slip for four.

He survives an LBW shout next ball.

The fifth ball is a half volley driven down the ground for four.

  9. Kent begin their first innings at Tauntonpublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 18 May

    Somerset 554 v Kent 0-0

The rain has relented and they're back out at Somerset.

There's really only one sensible tactic for Kent here - bat, bat and bat.

The forecast remains patchy this afternoon and two sizeable Kent innings over the equivalent of two days may be enough for a draw.

Ben Compton and Zak Crawley are in the middle.

Compton will face Josh Davey first up.

  10. Surrey lead passes 150published at 14:06 British Summer Time 18 May

    Surrey 213 & 67-0 v Worcs 128 - lead by 152

Rory Burns smears Joe Leach into the off side for three to take the Surrey lead past 150 with all 10 wickets in hand.

  11. Division Two latestpublished at 14:06 British Summer Time 18 May

Middlesex opener Mark Stoneman went straight to his 30th first-class century after lunch at Glamorgan. The hosts have removed Max Holden, but Middlesex are still superbly placed on 182-2 and trailing by just one run.

Northants have been bowled out for 422 by Derbyshire - it's a decent fightback by the bowling side after Northants were 368-5.

The Gloucestershire runfest continues at Leicestershire. They're 581-4 with James Bracey and Graeme van Buuren both beyond fifty.

Tom Alsop and Cheteshwar Pujara have steadied things for Sussex against Yorkshire. Their unbroken stand of 32 has taken them to 38-2 and they now trail by just seven runs.

  12. 'A decent start from Rae'published at 14:06 British Summer Time 18 May

    Essex 29-1 v Warwickshire 397

    Clive Eakin
    BBC CWR Sport

The Feroze Khushi wicket was a gift and Warwickshire have the breakthrough.

A decent start from Michael Rae to get his first first-class wicket for Warwickshire.

  13. Postpublished at 14:04 British Summer Time 18 May

    Surrey 213 & 64-0 v Worcs 128 - lead by 149

Too short from Joe Leach and Rory Burns is back and across to pull in front of square for four runs.

An attempted bouncer but not straight or quick enough to trouble the Surrey opener.

Ben Gibbon is round the wicket to Dom Sibley, who tries to work the ball away off the pads but without making contact.

An LBW shout is turned down off the last ball. Hit on the back leg.

Inside edge or just outside off? Not out anyway.

    Maiden over.

  14. 'Middleton wasn't playing a shot'published at 13:59 British Summer Time 18 May

    Notts 235 v Hants 61-4

    Dave Bracegirdle
    BBC Radio Nottingham commentator

Fletcha Middleton wasn't playing a shot, he just couldn't get his bat out of the way and more importantly his gloves out of the way.

It just brushed his gloves on the way through.

The game is definitely on an even keel now, I would say.

  15. rain stops play

Rain delays Kent innings at Tauntonpublished at 13:59 British Summer Time 18 May

    Somerset 554 v Kent

We had hoped to bring you the Kent reply at this point but the weather is not on our side.

So Kent openers Zak Crawley and Ben Compton will have to sit in the dressing room for the time being.

Light rain so we don't have the full set of covers on, but there are some big showers lurking.

    Hopefully a short delay.

  16. wicket

WICKET: Khushi c Bethell b Rae 10published at 13:57 British Summer Time 18 May

    Essex 16-1 v Warwickshire 397

Michael Rae has his first Warwickshire wicket - and it's a fairly straightforward one as Feroze Khushi steers him straight into the hands of mid-on.

Early setback for Essex, then, as Nick Browne comes out to join Dean Elgar in the middle.

  17. Postpublished at 13:56 British Summer Time 18 May

    Surrey 213 & 60-0 v Worcs 128 - lead by 145

Shot! Rory Burns gets a bit of width outside off stump from Ben Gibbon and cuts through point for four runs.

He gets a single off the next ball to move to 39.

Solid innings from the Surrey stalwart to date.

  18. Postpublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 18 May

    Surrey 213 & 55-0 v Worcs 128 - lead by 140

Joe Leach bowls a good off stump line to Rory Burns, getting the ball to wobble a little off the seam.

Burns gets a thick outside edge and the ball bounces in front of third slip.

He'll keep the strike with a single off the last ball, driven down the ground.

  19. wicket

WICKET: Middleton c Clarke b Pennington 20published at 13:50 British Summer Time 18 May

    Notts 235 v Hants 61-4

Nottinghamshire have an early wicket in this afternoon session as Dillon Pennington strikes!

Fletcha Middleton was trying to evade that rising delivery from Pennington but it looked to brush his gloves on the way through to Joe Clarke.

Hampshire are four down as Ben Brown comes to the crease - an experienced player who's produced plenty of the kind of gritty innings they need in this situation.

  20. Back under way at Chelmsfordpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 18 May

    Essex 11-0 v Warwickshire 397

New Zealand paceman Michael Rae delivers the first over after lunch as Essex continue their reply to the visitors' first-innings total of 397.

Just a single from the over, taking Feroze Khushi up to five while opening partner Dean Elgar has six.
