  1. Postpublished at 13:48 British Summer Time 18 May

    Surrey 213 & 54-0 v Worcs 128 - lead by 139

Ben Gibbon over pitches with his first ball and Dom Sibley pushes it into the on side for a couple.

Single to Kashif Ali on the leg side for one.

Gibbon bowls over the wicket to Rory Burns, angling the ball in and shaping it away.

Burns gets inside the line and pushes the ball into the on side for one.

  2. 'Only one blemish for Northants'published at 13:45 British Summer Time 18 May

    Derbyshire v Northants 409-8

    Andrew Radd
    BBC Radio Northampton

The only fly in the ointment for Northamptonshire so far today has been their failure - by just three runs - to secure a third batting bonus point, reaching 347-5 at the end of the 110th over.

But it served to underline the visitors' game plan to build a substantial first-innings total, even at the expense of bonus points.

Rob Keogh and Justin Broad - both missing from the side since the second round of Championship matches - added 123 for the sixth wicket, one short of Northamptonshire's record against Derbyshire (set in 1919), with Keogh completing his 20th century for the county across all formats.

Broad's 75, meanwhile, was a career-best - and could complicate selection for next week's match at home to Yorkshire.

  3. 50 partnership for Ackermann and Bedingtonpublished at 13:45 British Summer Time 18 May

    Lancashire 357 v Durham 84-2

Durham pair Colin Ackermann and David Bedingham waste no time in advancing the score after lunch, with six coming from the first over of the session.

Ackermann has 17, while Bedingham has moved on to 29.

  4. Afternoon session begins at the Ovalpublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 18 May

    Surrey 213 & 50-0 v Worcs 128 - lead by 135

The Surrey openers Rory Burns and Dom Sibley did a superb job for the hosts in testing conditions this morning after wrapping up the Pears first innings promptly.

Even another 100 runs or so on top of the current lead would still make this a tough, tense chase.

Dom Sibley will be facing the first ball of the session, to be bowled by Ben Gibbon, on 17 not out.

Rory Burns is at the non-striker's end on 32.

  5. Back under way at Trent Bridgepublished at 13:40 British Summer Time 18 May

    Notts 235 v Hants 61-3

Liam Dawson has been promoted to number five for Hampshire, with Tom Prest unable to bat at this stage after being off the field with an injury during the Nottinghamshire innings.

It looks as though Prest will be able to bat at some stage, but for now it's Dawson who joins Fletcha Middleton at the crease in the post-lunch session.

  6. Postpublished at 13:39 British Summer Time 18 May

Play is about to restart after lunch in most matches.

It's looking very stormy in the south west so we might see some delays at Taunton and Cardiff shortly.

We'll keep you up to date with all the action, rain or no rain, as it happens...

  7. 'Bowling Kent out twice will be hard'published at 13:34 British Summer Time 18 May

Somerset 554 v Kent - lunch, day two

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

    No declaration from Somerset.

Instead they batted on well beyond the 450 which gave them a fifth batting point, denying Kent a third bowling point in the process.

Skipper Lewis Gregory got good support from Josh Davey and Jack Leach against a Kent attack which was shorn of both George Garrett (groin) and Nathan Gilchrist (reasons unknown).

This morning was the easy part for Somerset. Bowling Kent out twice on an increasingly placid pitch will be a much harder task.

  8. Stoneman on 99published at 13:32 British Summer Time 18 May

    Glamorgan 183 v Middlesex 170-1 - lunch, day two

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London

Mark Stoneman is on the verge of his first century since September 2033, which was scored against Glamorgan at Lord's.

The former England opener has only passed fifty once this campaign and that was when he scored 97 in the opening game of the season against Glamorgan at Lord's.

The hosts' bowling attack looks light without the injured Timm van der Gugten and the rested Mir Hamza.

There is swing, seam and a fair bit of turn so Middlesex will fancy a big first-innings lead to set up the game.

  9. 'Sussex's Robinson looking fit'published at 13:30 British Summer Time 18 May

    Sussex 150 & 25-2 v Yorkshire 195 - lunch, day two

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Another eventful session at Hove with Sussex reaching lunch trailing by 20 with eight wickets in hand. After Sean Hunt had returned career best figures of 4-64, and a very fit looking Ollie Robinson had tidied up the Yorkshire tail, Sussex made the worst possible start to clearing off the 45 run arrears. Both openers Tom Clark and Tom Haines were out to poor shots, and much now depends on Cheteshwar Pujara and the middle order to show the grit and application that Joe Root demonstrated yesterday if Sussex are to have any hope of winning this game.

  10. Barnard prosperspublished at 13:28 British Summer Time 18 May

    Essex 10-0 v Warwickshire 397 - lunch, day two

    Clive Eakin
    BBC CWR Sport

Warwickshire's new look emergency bowling attack has a decent total to work with after Ed Barnard pushed the Bears score on this morning.

He hit two sixes and got helpful support from debutants Che Simmons and Michael Rae before they both fell trying to sweep Simon Harmer.

Rae, a New Zealander, has been drafted in on a short term deal to cover the absence of seven Warwickshire bowlers. In the two overs he sent down before lunch he showed some zip and pace.

  11. 'Surrey deserve to be in control'published at 13:19 British Summer Time 18 May

    Surrey 213 & 50-0 v Worcs 128 - lunch, day two

    Frank Watson
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

Surrey have really enjoyed an excellent morning.

Worcestershire started reasonably well but then Dan Worrall wrapped things up with those three wickets in the same over. The pick of an excellent Surrey seam bowling unit.

That first innings lead of 85 already substantial but has been added to by Rory Burns and Dom Sibley in exactly the right way. They've played it perfectly this morning. Put the bad ball away, accumulated occasionally with little nudges here and there and survived any odd scares without much trouble.

Surrey are in absolutely in control of this game now and they deserve to be.

Worcestershire, for all their efforts have found themselves falling short in certain key areas. They've played some pretty good cricket themselves but it's going to be very tough for them to get out of this game now with anything more than bonus points.

  12. wicket

SOMERSET ALL OUTpublished at 13:16 British Summer Time 18 May

    Somerset 554 v Kent

Kent finally end this Somerset first innings.

Lewis Gregory hoicks Joey Evison into the leg-side and Zak Crawley takes a fine diving catch just inside the rope.

    Gregory goes for 77.

    And that'll be lunch.

  14. Somerset reach record breaking scorepublished at 13:10 British Summer Time 18 May

    Somerset 550-9 v Kent

Jack Leach takes the host team to 550 in the 119th over with an edge down to third man.

That's Somerset's highest score against Kent in first-class cricket, breaking a record that goes back to 1898.

  15. Lunch at the Ovalpublished at 13:07 British Summer Time 18 May

    Surrey 213 & 50-0 v Worcs 128 - lead by 135

Rory Burns takes the opening stand to 50 just before the break with a steer wide of the slips to third man for four off Matthew Waite.

The landmark comes in 113 balls.

One ball later the players leave the field for lunch.

A dispiriting session of play for the Pears, who lost their last three wickets for 16 this morning.

The bowling has been largely tidy and testing but Surrey have toughed out the conditions thus far.

  16. Lunch at Chelmsfordpublished at 13:05 British Summer Time 18 May

    Essex 10-0 v Warwickshire 397

Five overs bowled in this Essex second innings and Dean Elgar and Feroze Khushi have kept their wickets intact as we go to lunch.

Elgar has six and Khushi four, with Essex 387 behind after Ed Barnard's knock of 165 guided the Bears close to 400 in their first innings.

  17. Postpublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 18 May

    Somerset 539-9 v Kent

Jack Leach and Lewis Gregory trade singles off the bowling of Joey Evison.

Gregory is through a pull shot a bit too early and the ball strikes him on the chin strap. Ouch.

He seems untroubled but the physio is out in the middle.

He bats on and swats a short, wide ball into the covers for one.

Leach plays the last ball safely to mid on.

With Somerset nine down we're going to play on past the scheduled interval.

  18. Lunch at Blackpoolpublished at 13:03 British Summer Time 18 May

    Lancashire 357 v Durham 78-2

Durham have managed to get through to the interval without any further damage after losing both Alex Lees and Scott Borthwick in successive deliveries.

David Bedingham has 28 and Colin Ackermann 12 and the visitors trail by 279.

Ben Stokes should be coming in next.

  19. wicket

WICKET: Vince c Clarke b Paterson 36published at 13:01 British Summer Time 18 May

    Notts 235 v Hants 61-3

Nottinghamshire strike again on the stroke of lunch!

James Vince was looking very dangerous, reaching 36 - most of them in boundaries - but he nicks off to Dane Paterson in the final over of the morning session.

This one looks very much in the balance as we go to the interval.

  20. Postpublished at 12:59 British Summer Time 18 May

    Surrey 213 & 44-0 v Worcs 128 - lead by 129

Yadvinder Singh is into the attack for the Pears and Dom Sibley pushes the ball defensively into mid wicket.

He gets three runs off a half volley, pushed into deep cover.

Rory Burns is across to turn the ball into the leg side for two.

Three more runs for Burns clipped in front of square.

This is all looking a bit too comfortable from a Pears perspective.
