    Surrey 213 & 329-5 v Worcs 128 - lead by 414

Worcestershire captain Brett D'Oliveira has opted not to take the new ball as there is still movement coming from this older, softer one.

A big shout for LBW by Yadvinder Singh against Jordan Clark as the ball keeps low but it's a bit too leg side.

The third ball is slightly over pitched and driven to short extra cover by Clark for one.

Single to Dan Lawrence. Just the two from the over.

  2. Postpublished at 18:18 British Summer Time 18 May

    Lancashire 357 & 69-1 v Durham 236

Josh Bohannon has just thrown the kitchen sink at a widish delivery from Paul Coughlin and earned himself four runs as the ball rolls up the grass bank behind third man.

Bohannon has moved on to 21 not out, with Keaton Jennings on 37 as Lancashire stretch their overall lead to 190.

  3. Postpublished at 18:14 British Summer Time 18 May

    Somerset 554 v Kent 90-3

Jack Leach's second over is a little looser and more expensive as Ben Compton cuts the left arm spinner through backward point for four.

The Kent opener is down the track to the fourth ball, which is driven with loft and elegance down the ground for six.

14 runs come from the over.

  4. 'A long, long day for Worcestershire'published at 18:14 British Summer Time 18 May

    Surrey 213 & 322-5 v Worcs 128 - lead by 407

It's been a long, long day for Worcestershire since they were knocked over this morning.

Surrey's lead of 400, a massive psychological barrier that.

Two days left in the game and Worcestershire know in order to save this game they've got to bat for two days.

If they bat for two days, I suppose they win it.

It is not impossible, stranger things have happened in the history of County Championship cricket than a team going out getting the biggest score of the game by miles in the last innings.

But given what we've seen with the state of the pitch, given what we've seen given the quality of Surrey's attack it is extremely unlikely.

    Surrey 213 & 320-5 v Worcs 128 - lead by 405

  6. Postpublished at 18:09 British Summer Time 18 May

    Notts 235 & 10-1 v Hants 276

Ben Slater and Will Young are digging in as Nottinghamshire work towards erasing the first-innings deficit of 41.

There's been a fair amount of playing and missing, but the good news for both batters is that they've avoided repeating the zero against their names from the first innings, with Slater now on six and Young four.

    Eight overs remaining tonight.

  7. 'Tremendous from Yorkshire'published at 18:07 British Summer Time 18 May

    Sussex 150 & 166-7 v Yorkshire 195

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

Tremendous effort from Yorkshire since tea, taking five wickets and restricting Sussex to just 37 runs in 20 overs since the break.

Shan Masood has marshalled his bowlers expertly and despite a battling innings from Tom Alsop, Sussex at this stage look some way short of a defendable lead.

Jordan Clark smashes Surrey past 300published at 18:00 British Summer Time 18 May

    Surrey 213 & 306-5 v Worcs 128 - lead by 391

An eventful over from Kashif Ali.

Jordan Clark cuts the first ball through point and drives the second through cover, both going for four.

The third ball is smashed over deep cover on the front foot for six!

That's some way to bring up the 300 - which arrives in 76.3 overs.

Ed Barnard has now been dismissed twice today!

The first time he walked off with a career-best 165 to his name. Second time around, it's a first-ball duck for the Bears all-rounder.

He tickles Jamie Porter down the leg side and Michael Pepper takes the catch.

Dan Mousley is the new man in, with Warwickshire in effect 247-3.

  13. Yorkshire on toppublished at 17:58 British Summer Time 18 May

Tom Alsop is providing some fine resistance though - he's on 65.

They're back on after a lengthy rain delay in Cardiff - Middlesex are 293-4 and 110 in front of Glamorgan.

Leicestershire are in bother replying to Gloucestershire's 706-6. They're 119-4 at Grace Road.

And the runs continue to flow between Derbyshire and Northants. Derbyshire are 160-2 in their first innings with Brooke Guest 76 not out.

  14. dropped catch

Joe Denly dropped on eightpublished at 17:56 British Summer Time 18 May

    Somerset 554 v Kent 69-3

Kent might be missing the batting pedigree of Jack Leaning, who is out with a wrist injury, sustained earlier in the season against Worcestershire.

Ben Compton steers Lewis Gregory to leg for a single, taking him to 4,000 first-class runs.

Joe Denly is dropped at second slip by Craig Overton on eight!

It was a tough, low chance but the fingers were under the ball.

He's going off the field, nursing a sore digit or two.

    Notts 235 & 4-1 v Hants 276

    Kevan James

This game is really coming alive.

Haseeb Hameed goes and at last Hampshire have held on to some catches.

It was quite an ambitious shot.

  16. wicket

WICKET: Rhodes lbw b Porter 3published at 17:53 British Summer Time 18 May

    Essex 162 v Warwickshire 397 & 12-2

Warwickshire's decision not to enforce the follow-on isn't looking all that clever.

They're now two down inside four overs of their second innings as Will Rhodes departs, pinned by a straight one from Jamie Porter.

Porter and Sam Cook are sensing an opportunity to rip through the Bears' top order tonight and force a way back into the contest for Essex.

  17. Postpublished at 17:50 British Summer Time 18 May

    Surrey 213 & 282-5 v Worcs 128 - lead by 367

Joe Leach bowls an absolute beauty that pitches on an off stump line and nibbles away. Immaculate length as well.

Too good for Jordan Clark, who plays and misses.

    Maiden over.

Part time leg spinner Kashif Ali is on at the other end and rips a ball right across Dan Lawrence!

The next ball is pitched up and driven for a single.

A no ball is swept behind square by Jordan Clark for four.

WICKET: Wells c Potts b Stokes 6published at 17:44 British Summer Time 18 May

    Lancashire 357 & 40-1 v Durham 236

Lancashire have made a bright start to their second innings, with Keaton Jennings picking up where he left off first time around.

But Ben Stokes does the trick in his first over, tempting Luke Wells to drive on the leg side and Matthew Potts races back from mid-on to take an excellent catch over his shoulder.

Potts had just been struck for successive boundaries by Jennings, who is racing along at 30 from 20 balls.

  20. Postpublished at 17:43 British Summer Time 18 May

    Somerset 554 v Kent 63-3

Not the most convincing of starts for Joe Denly, who his stuck on the crease with a loose drive wide of the slip cordon for four.

He gets four more off a flashing front-footed drive, edging the ball over the slips.

This is edge of the sofa viewing for Kent fans.

Change of bowling at the other end as Somerset captain Lewis Gregory brings himself into the attack.
