  4. 'A well balanced game'published at 12:53 BST

    Lunch: Notts 100-2 v Warwickshire 258

    Melinda Farrell
Sports broadcaster on BBC Radio Nottinghamshire

Warwickshire have done a pretty good job in taking a couple of wickets and stemming the tide.

They've have made it hard for Nottinghamshire.

The Warwickshire faithful will hope that they can keep chipping away.

I feel like we have a well balanced game.

  5. Essex need to 'bat long' for bonus pointspublished at 12:50 BST

    Lunch: Essex 8-0 v Somerset 433

    Nick Gledhill
    BBC Essex

On a pitch which offered a little less to the seamers today, Somerset, led by Lewis Goldsworthy’s patient even hundred, built a platform that should ensure they get at least a draw to ensure third place.

Goldsworthy’s third century was complemented superbly by Craig Overton’s 60 from 70 balls in a seventh wicket stand of 98.

It was Overton’s second fifty of the season against Essex after his crucial knock that helped Somerset secure victory in the reverse fixture.

Charlie Bennett, in his first championship outing with the ball, took 3-73 and the ever reliable Jamie Porter 3-66.

Essex now need to bat long for batting points and a position that guards them against any possibility of defeat.

Rob Yates will bowl an over of off breaks before lunch.

A slip and a short leg are in for Haseeb Hameed, who defends into cover.

The third ball is driven through the off side for one for the Notts 100.

That ball kept a bit low! 200 more inside 110 overs for the title.

Joe Clarke sees out the over.

200 more runs needed inside 110 overs for the title.

HANTS 248 ALL OUTpublished at 12:41 BST

    Sundar c Sykes b Chahar 56 (Hants 248 v Surrey 147)

And Hants miss out on the batting point after Washington Sundar picks out Ollie Sykes on the midwicket boundary.

That is a bit of a blunder from Sundar to be honest as, after carefully protecting the tail to get to what could be a crucial batting point at 250, he has slapped a low full toss to the boundary rider.

Sykes does well to scurry round and take a comfortable catch but Sundar will be kicking himself that he didn't try and take a less risky two.

Hants lost their last seven this morning for 94 runs and lead by 101.

  9. Lunch at Lord'spublished at 12:41 BST

    Middlesex 519-7 v Glos

Leus du Plooy's unbeaten 216 sees Middlesex through to lunch with a commanding score.

Seb Morgan reached a maiden first class half-century just before the interval too.

Ajeet Singh Dale has been the pick of the Glos attack and he has a five-wicket haul.

  10. Lunch at Canterburypublished at 12:38 BST

    Kent v Derbyshire 550-4

Derbyshire duo Luis Reece and Wayne Madsen continued to put Kent to the sword this morning, piling on the runs against the home side's beleaguered bowlers.

Reece hit 211 and Madsen 198 before both falling to Matt Parkinson.

  11. Lunch at Headingleypublished at 12:37 BST

    Yorks 28-1 v Durham 346

It has not been exciting stuff in Leeds with just 28 runs off 17 overs and Finlay Bean the one casualty for Yorks who trail by 317 runs.

The skies are blue over Headingley and batting should be easier after lunch but Durham are battling for their Division One survival.

  12. Lunch at Northamptonpublished at 12:36 BST

    Northants 52-1 v Leics 429

Arush Buchake takes Northants to 50 just before the break in the 17th over, pushing Josh Hull into the off side for one.

The young opener lunches on 16 not out with Rob Keogh on 11.

  13. Lunch at Sophia Gardenspublished at 12:35 BST

    Glamorgan 265 v Lancashire 168-2 - Lancs trail by 97 runs

Luke Wells has guided Lancashire through the morning session nicely, reaching 56 at the interval.

Keaton Jennings fell for a frustrating 49 and George Bell is on 45 not out.

Timm van der Gugten continues his impressive individual performance, taking both of the Lancs wickets to fall.

  14. 'A fascinating morning'published at 12:35 BST

    Hants 246-9 v Surrey 147

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

All credit to Ralphie Albert there, first ball he's bowled to Kyle Abbott, he's just given it a little bit of air and he's hit it straight back to him.

Brad Wheal's job is to just keep Washington Sundar company.

    It's been a fascinating morning.

  15. Lunch at New Roadpublished at 12:35 BST

    Worcs 123 & 7-0 v Sussex 350

Rehaan Edavalath and Jake Libby fend off two tricky overs from Ollie Robinson and Jaydev Unadkat to walk off unbeaten at lunch.

Worcs still face a mountain trailing by 220 runs after Sussex reached 350, dragged in no small part to that round number by John Simpson's 129 not out.

All to do for the relegated hosts in a second session with the ball still new and the bowlers refreshed.

  16. Lunch at Chelmsfordpublished at 12:33 BST

    Essex 8-0 v Somerset 433

Four slips in for Dean Elgar.

The opener is off the mark second ball with a leg stump half volley, deflected away for four.

Paul Walter drives Jake Ball straight but hasn't timed it and Ball does the fielding.

The last ball of the over is wide of off stump and swatted away for four.

    That's lunch.

  17. Another starring role for Simpsonpublished at 12:33 BST

    Worcs 123 & 5-0 v Sussex 350

    Adrian Harms
    BBC Sussex

How appropriate that John Simpson should be at the crease when Sussex secure their third batting bonus point and with it retain their first division status

The Sussex skipper's innings was a masterclass, coming to crease with his side struggling on 67-4, and departing unbeaten as his side reached 350.

Only two visiting players have scored centuries here this season, James Coles yesterday and Simpson today, both high class innings with shots all round the wicket.

This was the 19th first class hundred of Simpson's career, and incredibly the ninth since he joined Sussex last season.

  18. Postpublished at 12:30 BST

    Notts 86-2 v Warwicks 258

A bit leg side from Nathan Gilchrist and Joe Clarke tucks the ball away for two.

Lunch will be at the slightly later time of 12:40 after we lost a few overs yesterday.

Two down would be a good effort in largely testing conditions with some skilful Warwickshire bowling.

  19. Essex begin their first inningspublished at 12:28 BST

    Essex 0-0 v Somerset 433

Dean Elgar opens the innings with Paul Walter.

Elgar takes first strike, facing Craig Overton.

50 for Haseeb Hameedpublished at 12:27 BST

    Notts 83-2 v Warwicks 258

The Notts captain has held firm in tough conditions.

He reaches a precious half century in 98 balls with a single pushed into the off side, facing Ethan Bamber.

    Nine fours.

His ninth score of 50 or more in a season in which he has scored three centuries.
